“Cottage was perfectly located and well equipped albeit small for the price. Bathroom great, cosy lounge and well equipped kitchen. Couple of areas needed redecorating. But communication was non existent. Contacted host twice without reply on day of arrival to get the passcode for the keys. Also phone number was for Sykes cottages which was closed. Ended up knocking on doors nearby and finally got to the right person.”

“Room was clean and tidy, good amenities especially with the small fridge in the room. Staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast had a good choice and served very quickly. Ample parking at the rear of the building. Good choice of evening meal, only sorry we weren't there on Sunday for the carvery. Great location in a beautiful small village. Would recommend and stay again.”

Unfortunately, a family member was rushed into hospital just before the planned weekend and we had to cancel our trip. I wrote to the hotel via the Hotel.com messaging facility with apologies for the cancellation and enquired if they were prepared to provide us with a credit for a stay in the near future. We heard nothing from the hotel, so...

“Ett mycket varmt välkomnande i ett ganska nyrenoverat B&B. Den bästa vistelsen hittills på vår resa genom England. Mycket inbjudande och rent. Sköna sängar. Lugnt område, men nära till centrum. ”

“The reception employees were not service minded during check in and out. I arrived at 11 am and asked about the possibility of early check in (anytime before 15:00 even paid for). The receptionist asked for my name and once I gave it, the reply was No, it's fully booked even though: - he didn't even check. - a couple that he helped before me got to check in. - when I came back in the evening and asked for a floor fan, the evening receptionist said he'd look for any available in the "unoccupied...
