The Space:

This cute dog-friendly home is just a block from the beach! Cook out on the gas grill after a day at the beach and eat outdoors on the dining set, then enjoy a refreshing swim in the private pool or relaxing on the hammock. The front porch has recently been renovated to be enclosed for the kids and family pups.



During your stay, take advantage of the many outdoor activities offered on the island, including fishing, surfing, biking, kayaking, boating, and much more. Shopping, restaurants, and bars are located on Center Street, just under one mile from the house. A short drive (just under 12 miles) will take you to downtown Charleston where you can enjoy shopping, fine dining, and local historic tours.

Nice place, great pool/spa, and yard. Cleaning leaves something to be desired, especially since they refused us even a moment of early check-in, apparently because the cleaners needed the entire day to clean. I appreciate the pet-friendly aspect, but there was still dog hair everywhere, so if you don't have a pet prepared, be aware of that. The sofa bed was proper gross when we opened it up, but luckily, there was an extra comforter to lay over the dirty sheets on it. Also would have been nice to have more than one pot's worth of coffee. Overall, a nice place, just sort of lacking a bit considering the cost.

Perfection

Finally the perfect size a house for me, my hubby and pup. We struggle to find a home that’s pet friendly and has a fenced in backyard with 3+ bedrooms we won’t use. This beautiful home has everything we need and more. The screened in porch is a great place to read in the shade and the pool was perfect for sunning and cooling off without the hassle of sand or beach chairs. We can’t wait to go back!

Perfect Beach Cottage

We had a wonderful week at the Sea Urchin! It is so clean and comfortable and beautifully decorated. The backyard is a paradise and we felt very safe having our dog there with the fenced in yard and enclosed porch. We so loved the pool and the hot tub and the proximity to the beach (and town)! We will definitely be back!

Beautiful Backyard

The pool and backyard really makes the Sea Urchin a 5 star getaway! The house is on the small side but it was just two of us and our pups so it worked out perfect for us. House was clean and nicely decorated. and was just a 2 minute walk to the beach.

Cozy beach house great for small family (just need to fix hot tub)

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sea Urchin. It was great for a small family of four plus a small dog. Quick walk to the beach and neighborhood park. The backyard was a perfect spot for the family to hang out. That all being said, there are two main reasons that I took off two stars. The hot tub was not hot when we got there and after several hours of trying to get it to work and text exchanges with the company I had to reset the breaker panel every time we wanted to heat the hot tub up. And it was not always clear if it was heating up. We would have to start the process an hour or two before we wanted to get in and sometimes wouldn’t know if it was actually heating up (there are no indicators of the heat being on so you’re basically doing trial and error). This is a big deal when the main purpose you select this property (and pay the premium price) is due to the hot tub amenity. Second, the door knob on the bathroom was broken (kept falling off) and my 5 year actually old got stuck in there (door handle fell completely off). Luckily I had pliers in my car and was able to open the door without the knob. Fix these issues and the property becomes 5 stars.

This is the second time we have stayed at The Sea Urchin on Folly. We absolutely love this charming house. The backyard and front porch is the perfect getaway spot. This will be an annual family tradition!

Pluses: The house is tiny but very cute, dog friendly, and in a great location. The beach is a short walk away and easily accessible. Check in was easy and smooth. I enjoyed rolling out my mat and doing yoga on the front porch when it was raining and on the grassy area when the sun was shining. Minuses: We were not able to fully enjoy the pool area because the two lounge chairs were busted and left rusting on the deck, so there was no where to sit. The kitchen was not very well appointed, lacking many basics. The communication with the property manager is all via text and automated. No response to my texts. The daily rate increased by 1/3 by the time all taxes and fees were tacked on.

Thanksgiving get away

The property was clean and perfect for our dogs the entire backyard is fenced in which makes it very easy to let the dogs run around without worry ! Footsteps away from a very nice beach and the home is small but cozy with everything you need . I would warn though the local restaurants are not stellar . Food was a tiny issue if you don’t love mediocre food . We did drive a short 20 minute drive to downtown Charleston to get good food and that was perfect for our family ! Rita’s restaurant which is owned by Halls is in town and that’s about the best food and service you will get ! All and all a great rental and pool and hot tub was a amazing treat ! Definitely would book again !

Great house with awesome back yard

This is the perfect house for a couple or a small family. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the listing said there was a heated pool, and apparently that is no longer an option - this basically makes the pool unusable after summer which was disappointing. As of this writing it still says there is pool heat. Other than that though the house is awesome.

Great spot

This was a great place to stay! We are local and just looking to get closer to the beach for the week. This was the perfect spot! The pool was a great way to chill out after the beach. The backyard was beautiful and great for the dogs!! There were so many places outside to spend time (ie pool, backyard, front porch). The rooms were a little small because of all the luggage we brought but the kitchen and bathroom were great! We will definitely be renting this spot again!

Just what we needed

The short walk to the beach to see the sunrise along with the private pool and hot tub made this the perfect getaway for our family of 5. The pool needed to be swept from a storm and property management addressed it as quickly as they could. There are restaurants and grocery within minutes of the house. Charleston is about 30 minutes away with plenty to do and see. Our only negative was the one bathroom but we made it work. Definitely wouldn't keep us from coming back again.

Adorable cottage with amazing backyard!

Owners put a lot of thought into the renter’s experience. We booked for a quick get away, and we had a wonderful time. There’s a binder with menus from all the area restaurants, which we used multiple times. We initially planned to spend the majority of our stay at the beach, but the backyard was so relaxing and inviting, that we found it hard to leave. We hope to come back, with our pups, and next time, we intend to stay much longer!

Sea Urchin

This is the perfect property for families with young children. Great back yard and outdoor space. We chose to rent a golf cart for the week and this location made for easy travel to restaurants with to small children. The Property is1 block to the beach and a short golf cart ride to Berts & center street. We visit Follly at least once a year and we Would definitely rent this property at every opportunity its available!
