Magical Stay in Heaven

From my communication with Leslie and the rental company, to the ease of ordering groceries, and the tranquility brought on from the moment we stepped on the island this was the easiest and best vacation my family and I have ever had. I wish I had words to describe every single moment of the week we spent at Sea La Vie! The experience of having a PRIVATE beach area all to ourselves, having someone meet us at the dock and load/ unload our suitcases into the house, walking into an immaculate house that was stocked with the groceries we picked out, having a private chef in a FULLY STOCKED kitchen left my family and I not wanting anything else in a dream vacation. Each bedroom has everything you need for your stay, there are so many beach towels, and everything inside and outside the house is in wonderful condition. Leslie and her family put so much thought into everything in and around the property to ensure that you will have your dream vacation!!!

Family vacation on the beach

Excellent place to stay with something for all ages. We had a wonderful time -right on the beach. The owner was great in helping organize every step of the trip to have it go smooth. Her personal contact was great and thoughtful. The house is beautiful and everything thought of that we could want. It was unanimous that we want to return! By far the best vacation rental we have stayed at. Thank you to the family for sharing their home!

It was more than you imagine. With a 4 year old, the water was not the big breaking waves were perfect for him to sit and play and he was able to interact with the adults. The house was beautiful. It was clean, and had anything you would need. The owner contacted us on Tuesday to make sure all was good. It does take some planning to get there and getting groceries there. The property managers are really helpful with helping get what you need. Our family would definitely stay again.

An incredible stay!

Our stay was exceptional! Leslie provided excellent planning tools well ahead of our arrival and was quick to respond to any questions before and during our stay! The house is beautiful, spacious, clean and packed full of amenities for a comfortable stay. During our stay, Shally’s Seashells property management was so helpful and responsive and such a great resource for our group! It is just footsteps off the deck to a private beach and the daily dolphin and manatee sightings was a special treat. We would love to visit the North Captiva Island Sea La Vie home again!

Best vacation EVER!!

We all had a fantastic, relaxing vacation! We were two families with adult kids and could not have asked for more. The beachfront location was perfect, the amazing home had everything we could possibly need and more. The great communication from Leslie, the home owner throughout the booking and leading up to our stay was spot on!Leslie alleviated all the stress of traveling to the island. She offered a variety of options and recommendations for transportation to/from the airport, how to purchase groceries to ensure they get delivered to the island and things to do during our stay. The house had everything anyone would need. It was very clean, had plenty of room for everyone and very comfortable for all of us. The private beach right at the house was great and we soaked up the sun, relaxing there each day watching the dolphins and manatees go by. We took in incredible sunrise views from the beach at the house and headed to Sunset beach across the way to catch the beautiful sunsets as well! I can’t say enough wonderful things about our trip to capture it all. I highly recommend the location, the home and Leslie Cowan, who you can trust will ensure you’re well informed of everything you’ll need to know before spending a week on North Captiva Island. Wishing I could score this with at least 10 stars!!!!

Magical

This was our first time using VRBO and unfortunately the places we stay at in the future will have a hard time living up to the standard that Leslie set at Sea La Vie. She started by including all the information we could possibly need to make our trip there, and stay, as seamless as possible. And truly, it couldn’t have gone any smoother. Then there’s the house, location, and all the amenities. It was beyond all of our expectations. Our family of seven, including 5 adults and two young children had ample space and enjoyed cooking in the well equipped kitchen. My daughter claimed she has never slept so good because of the mattress and pillows in her room. The house is beautifully and artfully decorated with a convenient layout. We loved the convenience of the 2 golf carts and used the kayaks. Our favorite part, though, was the location. We were right on the beach, and literally had it to ourselves for all but one day of our stay. And boy were we entertained daily. Dolphins swam and played sometimes only about 5 yards from the shore. We had a heron regularly visit and the Ospreys entertained us by trying to build a nest on the neighbor’s air conditioning unit. We also saw enormous iguanas (One my granddaughter named Mango because he was orange and green),and shelled to our hearts content. We also spotted many starfish and even a puffer fish in the seaweed. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay and Leslie and Ally were so helpful with everything!!

Incredible beach front property, even better host!

I’ve been traveling to North Captiva for many years and this is one of the best properties I’ve stayed at. The house is beautiful, very carefully maintained, and provided ample accommodations for our entire family, adults and children alike. This would also be a great place for a first time visitor to North Cap because of the knowledge the host, Leslie, openly shares to help make your trip more enjoyable. Planning for and traveling to North Captiva is more involved than a standard beach vacation, but Leslie was there to provide excellent recommendations every step of the way. From car services and ferry schedules, to food and drink recommendations, anything and everything you can think of, Leslie had it covered. Her communication was excellent before, during and after the trip. We highly recommend Sea La Vie for your next vacation!

Beautiful

The house and location are beautiful. We rode the golf cart around the island daily and went to mangos for ice cream several times while we were there. My husband and sons caught tons of fish while my daughter and I explored with the kayaks or laid out in the sun. Communication with the owner (Leslie) was wonderful. She contacted me about a month prior to our vacation and kept in contact with me throughout. She answered all of my questions and even ordered a game I had asked about and had it at the house for our stay! North Captiva is definitely somewhere we will go again and it was one of our favorite family vacations

Perfect vacation home for kids!

We had a wonderful time! The home was clean and stocked with everything you would ever need. We were traveling with all ages from 68 to two one yr olds. The two masters on the first floor were nice for my husband and I’s elderly mothers. The master up stairs had a wonderful bonus room that had a crib and a toddler bed. It was so nice having my youngest children so close but yet separated for some privacy. They had everything you would need for small children including baby gates, baby monitor and pack n plays. We would put the babies down for a nap and head to the beach with the monitor without any issue!There is also a nice shaded spot for the babies to play under the deck that kept my 1 and 4 yr olds occupied for hours. The beach was PERFECT. Wonderful sunrise views with calm waters for our younger children. The private beach was perfect and came stocked with yard games like cornhole and even games for the children. Also plenty of beach seating. The ice maker and fridge beachside were such a blessing. A cold drink was always just steps away. I also liked that our private beach had clear boundaries that kept my children on our property …. this was the first vacation wear my kids could roam and play and I could actually sit and relax. Great beachside fishing also! The gulf carts were in great shape and had plenty of room with having the two available. The owner and management company are very responsive and kind and are truly just a text away. Highly Recommend!

Best time ever!!!

We had the BEST week ever at Sea La Vie on North Captiva Island! I would absolutely recommend this spot, the perfect location for family. We saw beautiful sunrises, so many shells, starfish, dolphins and manatees. My son and husband enjoyed fishing off shore and we used the kayaks provided. Leslie was wonderful to work with, she took care of everything and the house was beautiful and organized with everything you need for a great stay. It really doesn’t get much better than this, we can’t wait to go back to this little slice of heaven!

We stayed at this gorgeous house with my extended family and had an amazing time. The house is large, comfortable and has everything you need! The host, Leslie gives you all the information you need to make your stay perfect! the beach and view from the house is to die for. Awesome house with amazing views and a great location!

We were a group of 8 comprised of two family’s of 4. The house fit us perfectly and gave everyone their own space to relax. The views were absolutely amazing and we found we spent the majority of our time on the front porch or below the house relaxing. The ice machine and fridge downstairs was really nice to have as well as the abundance of beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. The house and kitchen is fully stocked and there wasn’t one thing we found ourselves needing that wasn’t there in place. As for the location, it’s got the largest private beach area of any property we had seen on a side of the island where the water always stays calm. This was a nice thing with children, allowing them to play in the shallow water and not having to be right next to them. The gulf side (the other side of the island and maybe a 10 minute cart ride) is nice to visit and beautiful as well but in our opinion not and area you could let the kids swim freely without the presence of an adult very close. The house is also situated on the side of the island known for dolphin sightings. We regularly(multiple times per day) saw pods of dolphins sometimes close enough to hear them breathe, it was pretty cool. I can’t say enough about the location of this place to everything you would need or want to do on the island, it really is perfect. The property owners and management were extremely easy to communicate with and gave us welcome packets that left no questions unanswered. We will be staying here again!

Beautiful beach house

Everything was great at Sea La Vie! We had everything we needed between beach items to use, the 2 golf carts and a well stocked kitchen. It was nice to have extras like the beach chairs, umbrella, games, corn hole, ice maker etc. We really enjoyed the house and it was obvious the owners want their guests to feel comfortable and at home. We would love to return sometime and recommend Sea La Vie to others wanting a nice family vacation house on beautiful North Captiva.

Peaceful Paradise

If you are looking for a heavenly escape from the chaos then Sea La Vie is for you! Everything about our trip was perfect. From the moment we stepped foot on the island we felt at ease. We were greeted by Brian from Shally's Seashells Property Management. Brian grabbed our bags off of the Water Taxi and put them on the trailer attached to his golf cart. He gave my husband and I keys to a blue and pink golf cart and the kids excitedly hopped on the back of the carts to go for a tour of the Island. Brian showed us around the island and told us all about the Manatees that come up to visit people near the shore. Prior to arrival we had the option of having the house stocked with groceries which we took advantage of. When we walked into the house our wine and beer was chilled and waiting for us. The house was perfect and fully stocked with everything we needed from sea kayaks to shovels and floats for the water. I could feel all of the love and attention to detail that the property owners put in the home. The only bad part about this home was leaving to go back to the mainland.

Fantastic getaway to North Captiva!

Leslie (the owner) is so wonderful! Her charming home is decked out with everything you'd need to have a wonderful vacation, right down to copper cups for Moscow Mules (our favorite cocktail!). The island is remote, so preplanning is necessary - Leslie gave detailed instructions which made everything run smoothly! The closet full of beach items and cabinet of games were just some examples of this ideal VRBO for a memorable family vacation. We've stayed in dozens of VRBO properties around the world and Leslie is the BEST host ever!!

Perfect place to breathe

When we booked we wanted an off the beaten path location and North Captiva fit the bill. Sea La Vie was perfect, space wise, amenities, and our own beach!!! Thanks to our hosts and management staff.

Slice of Paradise!

Such a beautiful home! Interior is beautifully decorated and everything you need was provided. Lots of beach towels and beach chairs. Tons of beach toys for children and adults. No need to bring those items. Leslie was extremely helpful in providing all the pre planning information for ground transportation (I highly recommend John and Yvonne), grocery shopping (Debbie was fantastic), Seafood market and liquor store. Leslie was alway available to help me before and during my stay. She took out the anxiety of staying on a private island. The golf carts and kayaks were a big hit. The best family vacation we’ve ever had! So relaxing and laid back. There’s a lot to do if you want or not. It was great to have our own private beach. The water was so warm and sunrises were fantastic! We can’t wait to come back!

Amazing View

This was our 3rd time staying on NCI and the first time at this property. This by far was the best vacation rental we've stayed at so far. The rental was clean, well kept, well stocked and very well organized. Thorough guidelines were provided. Communication was very helpful and delivered timely. The owners were great to work with and we truly appreciated everything! The house itself is beautiful and so are the views. Being on the bay/sound side was better than the golf side due to the beautiful sunrises, large private beach, and frequent dolphin and manatee sightings. We used the two kayaks to get closer to the sea life, and we were rewarded with dolphins jumping near to us. We are pretty familiar with the island since we've been twice before. This is definitely a serene place to go to get away from everything and unwind. We love that there are no cars - it's fun getting around on golf carts. Barnacles/Mainstays offers good casual dining. Sunsets are nice at the sandbar. And as an added bonus, the shells by the preserve are beautiful in the morning during low tide! If you go, bring lots of sunscreen for the day and insect repellent for mornings and evenings, specifically repellent for "no-see-ums". Water shoes are very helpful to protect your feet from all the shells. In fact, make sure to plan and pack well, because it's harder or more expensive to get things you need once you are on the island. The owner will give you these tips too, but these important ones are worth repeating! Anyway, our stay was absolutely perfect and we would definitely go back if the opportunity arises!

Absolutely Magical

There were four adults and four teenager boys and we had an absolute blast. The house was clean had everything we needed. The house manager was amazing and very helpful. Love the option to have our groceries delivered and placed in the home for when we got there. Having the golf carts was very convenient. Overall it was a trip of a lifetime and a vacation none of us will ever forget.

Great Family Vacation House

The house was amazing. Right on the beach. If you like water and nature this is the house for you. A manatees came right up to us right on the beach that was outside our backdoor. There are also dolphins and starfish right off your front door. There are kayaks at the house as well as ping pong, bags and games. The house is clean and well stocked. The kitchen has everything you need to cook great meals. I am looking forward to going back again.

Just got home and I’m ready to go back!

Just completed a 10 day stay at Sea La Vie and it was everything that we had hoped for. First of all, pre trip communication was outstanding. Leslie responded quickly to any and all questions and even ensured we had life jackets for my granddaughters. We arrived on the island two hours early and Ally & Sean accommodated the surprise arrival without issue. Upon arriving at the house, the grocery order had been filled and the house was just as described - beautiful. The house was immaculate and anything needed was available. The island is incredible, the island club pools very nice and my granddaughters thought driving around on golf carts was a lot of fun. I would recommend Sea La Vie to anyone looking to spend time on North Captiva.
