I'm sorry you felt that way! We take our reviews very seriously, as do others, so I need to address a few things for the benefit of potential guests who might read this.
First, I would start by asking rhetorically and to anyone reading, "what is your definition of a Bed and Breakfast experience?"
We provided this guest a private bedroom and a private bathroom. In the morning, we provided a home-cooked meal of French Toast and Bacon, along with fruit and other toppings, and juice, milk, and coffee.
I've stayed at Bed and Breakfasts that dropped off a box of donuts!
And, I believe, we far exceed other Bed and Breakfast homes by making available nearly the entire house for guests to use, including the home theater, the air hockey table, the toys and board games in the basement, etc. And then, of course, the most important thing - the hot tub. I believe your wife enjoyed it for quite a long time. I wish you would have been able to try it! Maybe your whole impression would have been different! It is life-changing!!
We only allow one set of guests at a time and are approved to host up to 8. There were just the 3 of you, so space should have been sufficient.
Many wouldn't know this but, by definition, a bed and breakfast must be the home of the person hosting you.
Regarding paper towels. Did you ask for more when they ran out? We didn't receive an IM from you. Our onsite host assures us that she replaced the roll in the morning, before breakfast when she saw it was empty..
And finally, regarding your two statements about our level of communication. According to VRBO and our INBOX, this is how it went:
When you booked, you asked a question. We responded with an automated message providing a variety of info and a personal message answering your question - all within 1 minute of booking.
One week before arrival we sent out another message providing other info and asking a few questions. You responded by saying "Thank You" and repeating your earlier question. You must not have seen our earlier response. We repeated our answer - within 42 minutes.
The day before arrival, we sent out another message, with other info and a question about dietary restrictions in anticipation of breakfast. You responded, "No food restrictions"
On the day of arrival, we sent out another message that included your entry code and asked for your ETA. You responded that you would arrive in 5 minutes.
When you arrived, our daughter, your host, met you, showed you around, and talked to you about the hot tub. Later, she got it up to temperature for you and you took it from there. She also, re-asked about dietary restrictions and found that actually, almond milk would be a better choice for the french toast.
So my questions now are, if this is "little communication" and "no host response", then - "How much more communication and interaction would someone want?" and "How much more quickly and thoroughly should we respond?"
Finally, we regularly compare our prices to hotels in the heart of Frankenmuth, and we try to make sure to always provide a better value!
And I'll make this offer. Show me the price for similar room(s), for the same dates, at a hotel on Main Street in Frankenmuth and we will beat them by 20%.
To assist those looking for a bargain: you might get a rate similar to ours at a hotel in Bridgeport or Birch Run, and maybe a little cheaper in Saginaw or Flint.
Do that if you are okay with a little drive to get back and forth to Frankenmuth.
If you want the best type of Frankenmuth experience - stay with us!
I would also ask anyone researching via these reviews to look at the reviews on our other listings for this house since each room or combination of rooms requires its own listing to be bookable. This means that our reviews are divided among the 3 listings.
Thank you!
