The Gate

Located only a stone's throw from the stunning Freshwater Bay, The Gate is a two-bedroom ground floor apartment by the sea. Designed and decorated to create a blissful coastal vibe, with plenty of original touches throughout and the addition of a hot tub.



Step inside to find the gorgeous kitchen/dining-room, decorated in calming tones, with its double doors opening out onto the patio and the spacious, private garden beyond. With the sea just a few minutes' walk away from the end of the garden, holiday days can be spent in the best way - with a refreshing dip in the sea, before heading back for breakfast on the sunny patio.



The Gate has an open plan layout with plenty of space for the family to spread out and relax; truly getting away from it all for a well-earned break. The sitting-room has two comfortable sofas, perfect for cosying up and watching a film at the end of the day. There are two beautiful bedrooms, one of which is a 'zip and link' super-king size or twin beds, you choose! The other is a double bedroom with doors leading straight out to the sunny garden. There is a lovely large shower-room and two separate WCs making it a perfect property for a family or a group of friends to come together.

LOCATION:



Freshwater Bay is one of the most picturesque beaches in West Wight and lies just to the South of the town of Freshwater. The beach is covered in a mixture of grey flint and chalk pebbles that make a unique sound as the waves rise and fall onto the shore. There is sand below the low water mark and some sandy areas to sit if you walk to the more eastern side of the bay. There is also a rock ledge revealed at low tide at this side, which is great for rock pooling with your kids.



Smugglers once used the caves around the bottom of the chalk cliffs that are exposed at low tide – if you wish to explore them it is best to find a local guide as you can become cut off by the tide. Kayaking is the ideal way to see them and the other small bays. This beach is popular for surfing and water sports and boats will moor offshore to come ashore. The Freshwater Independent Lifeboat is launched from this bay when required by those in trouble at sea.



Overlooking the bay is the Albion Hotel that houses a public bar or visit the Dimbola Museum and galleries for an afternoon tea..

OUTSIDE

Garden with 2 terraces and outside dining furniture, under sunshade pergola, coal BBQ provided for guests.

Allocated parking for 2 guests cars adjacent to the garden please note: the owners vehicle does occupy a single space within the allocated parking area..





For hygiene reasons, the hot tub water is changed between each guest’s stay. Please be aware that the water may take until the first morning of your visit to reach its optimal temperature. Nonetheless, the hot tub will be available for your use during this time.

PLEASE NOTE:



Guests can choose to either pay a non-refundable damage waiver of £35 or provide a pre-authorised security deposit of £350 before check-in.

If the security deposit option is selected, no money will be taken unless damage is reported at the property within 7 days after departure.



This property can accept a maximum of 1 pet(s). The charge is £35 per pet, per week and we kindly ask that you bring your own bedding for your pet(s). Please ensure that you correctly add your pet(s) when making your booking, so this additional cost is included. If it becomes apparent that you have brought a pet(s) with you but did not advise us, we will contact you to request payment separately.



There is no electric car charger on site and guests are prohibited from using the mains electric in the property to charge a car. If it becomes apparent a car is being charged, then the guest may be charged an additional amount to cover the extra cost.

The Island Holiday Company are responsible for the full management of this property and should you need to contact us during your stay we are available between 9-5 Monday to Friday, We also operate an out of hours emergency service on the weekends - please refer to your property brochure left inside the property, for further information and contact details.



No stag or hen parties are permitted at any of our properties.



There is a strict no smoking/vaping policy, inside all our properties.



Linens and towels are provided, but please bring your own beach towels and cot linen as necessary.



Please be respectful of the property and the neighbours during your stay; leaving the property as you found it on your arrival.



A breach of the above rules and guidelines could mean forfeiture of the Security Deposit.

Great location, cute cottage, very clean. Bedrooms were a little tight and it took 2 days to get the hot tub on and up to temperature but we did get to enjoy it on our final night.

Last minute summer break

The location was fantastic. It was great to make a cup of tea in the house and drink it on the beach! The size of the accommodation was generous in the shared spaces. The hot tub was delightful. Put some hooks on the pergola next to the hot tub for towels. Put some side drawers next the bed in the main bedroom for clothing. When there’s heavy rain, the storm drain will flood the end of the garden (it will go down over a number of hours) but this will separate you from the parking area…could some raised pavement be put in to access the parking area?

Excellent Accommodation Let Down by Outside

The internal was designed and fitted to a high spec as described and had all that you need for a great holiday. Supplemented by a great location just a stones throw from the beach. Sadly the exterior of the property did not provide the same standard. Unfortunately the Hot Tub did not work for the duration of our stay and despite having a large patio and grounds these were not well maintained and looked sad and tired. A shame because there is great potential for a lovely relaxation space, barbeque and seaside garden planting which would significantly enhance the property.

Good but some deficiencies

The property is in a good location for Freshwater beach. Inside there is a large light and airy kitchen/diner with some comfortable seating but not enough to seat 3 or 4 adults to socialise conveniently. The twin bedroom is virtually inaccessible because of the size of the beds! The outside space could be made more attractive and practical - there was no "easy" furniture for sitting about. The hot tub was wasted on us and had a constant irritating hum.

Beautiful bolt hole by the sea

Loved the location, by walks and the sea. The living space and bathroom areas are fabulous and large. Everything you could need in the kitchen, the drier was a bonus after using the hot tub (lush), we could dry our towels. Would stay again definitely. Hanging in bedroom was a bit wobbly, could do with fixing. A couple more hooks on the back of the bedroom doors would be useful. These are very minor though and did not affect our holiday at all.
