Beautiful home! Stunning furnishings, light fixtures & bedding!! Very tasteful! It was warm & cozy! My family stays here when we are in town visiting our family. The landscaping is professionally designed, installed & maintained. This is truly our home away from home!! Thanks Funks Inn for another wonderful stay!!

Our German Christmas at Funk's INN

Funk's Inn was the perfect setting and location for our family to celebrate a themed Christmas with a German flavor. All of us enjoyed the history, the space, the accommodations, the wine, and the setting. Lance was great in helping us create the atmosphere desired. While many great memories were made there, one of my favorite was learning how to play pool with my grandchildren

Creepy but cool! Perfect for a short time with friends or family.

We made it a girls weekend. We had 3 adults stay, but 4 to 5 could stay comfortably. We liked the history behind it and are into a little ghostly possible haunting adventure. The back deck was our favorite hangout. Its centrally located between St. Gen and Festus. Its a beautiful rurral area, but you aren't more thab 30 minutes from restaurants, etc. The owner was very nice and quick to respond and even left us snacks and homemade wine. We enjoyed the riesling!

Historical upgraded well maintained property!!

This place is great place to stay. Clean, well maintained, cozy, well equipped for anything you need while away on vacation. The house has so much history and all the documentation was very interesting. We stayed here because it was close to Festus where we were attending a car show. Had 2 trucks and trailers and had plenty of parking. Grilled out the first night and sit on patio and back porch and hung out. Played pooled and watched Smokey and the bandit on one of the many tvs. Listened to music on our phones through the speakers throughout the house. What a fantastic property. Hope we get the opportunity to stay again in the future.

Jackson family Thanksgiving at the Funk house

Beautifully restored home that was very interesting and comfortable. Part of our group traveled from Colorado and North Carolina to reunite with Missouri family members. This house provides a wonderful meeting place for sharing meals, memories and fun. We plan to return to the Funk house for future Thanksgiving holidays.

1870 German Stone House

This was our second visit as we brought along our adult children that have been asking to get to go along this time. The hosts, Lance & Heather were great - as always. This is a unique experience to live in and experience history.

A unique stay with everthing you could need. Clean and beautiful restored home full of history. I loved the attention to detail spent on making the house comfortable for us, but also the details in the house itself. Everywhere I looked I was able to find intricate details in the home, from light fixtures to door hinges. We will be back.

Unique, huge and fun

Great experience all around and it made for the perfect getaway weekend. Clean house, a lot of charm, very spacious, lots of essentials and beyond in the kitchen and very reasonably priced. The only hindrance is that it isn't near any stores or gas stations, but I would certainly stay there again.

Anniversary Gift

Great place to stay with a lot of history. The country setting and scenery was very nice and it was a short drive to St. Genevieve to have a great meal at the Audubone. Lance is a great host and we would definitely stay here again.

Easy, beautiful and Unique

We had a fantastic stay, communication was brilliant, very easy check in process and the place was squeaky clean. It is such a unique place and anyone with the slightest interest in history will really appreciate it. Fabulous historical home

The house is a wonderfully restored, civil war era house. It has modern amenities (AC/Heat throughout, Wi-Fi, dishwasher, etc.), but they are tastefully incorporated into a house with original finishes and period furniture. If you are coming to Ste. Genevieve for the history, staying here will add to your trip. The owner is very helpful and responsive if you need anything.

My dream home!

This house and the care given to it to keep it as original as possible is amazing! It was like we stepped back in time. The property is beautiful, coffee on the back porches was wonderful. Whole house speakers were a great touch! We would definitely return for a stay at the Funks Inn!

The Stone House

This property is wonderful for anyone who is interested in history. It is a peaceful getaway that makes you feel like you have stepped back in time. There are modern amenities but these blend seamlessly into the historic decor. My niece and I truly enjoyed our stay.

Just what we needed.

Funk Inn was the perfect place for our family of 6 to transition back in to the St. Louis area. We were able to enjoy some relaxing time as a family, while still being close enough to visit family in Ste Genevieve and friends in St Louis. Our children enjoyed the chance to explore the beautiful property surrounding the house during the day and to do some star gazing while sitting around the fire pit in the evening. The house amenities made it convenient for our children to attend school remotely and my wife to login for work during our extended stay. I would would definitely recommend Funk Inn to anyone looking for a quiet get away or just a change of scenery while staying connected to your daily routines.

Amazing property

This Inn is amazing. Lance has done a wonderful job of restoring it. There is a history of the house on the dining table that my daughter and I spent over an hour reading. It was so fun. We came down for a girls weekend and had a blast. We spent a lot of time around the pool table and around the fire pit. We also took a quick drive into St. Gen for lunch and shopping. We will definitely be back. So many fun memories were made. Thank you Lance for having us.

A very good stay

Unfortunately we wer in the area for a funeral. The property was located in an area that allowed peace and serenity. The only recommendation I could give would be knowing what to do with our bags of garbage that we had accumulated. Barring that the house is beautiful and well-maintained and thought out four guests needs.

Quiet and peaceful stay

This property is absolutely cool. The renovations are amazing, and it was fun to think about what life might have been like for the original owners. Great restaurants are only a short drive away, and so are some good hiking spots. There is a place called Mary's Market right down the road where you can get groceries, and we recommend the Main & Mill Microbrewery in Festus for takeout. There is also a Starbucks in Festus if you just have to have it, but the house has a coffee pot along with tea and coffee, which was perfect for us. We loved the quiet setting and the views from the back deck. It was far enough removed to be nice and peaceful, yet close enough to town to not feel isolated. The house is furnished with antiques from the period, and it was like walking back in time. The kitchen has modern amenities but also antiques, such as lights that are wired with electricity to suit modern day living. The owners keep the place very clean and stocked with water, kitchen utensils, dishes, pots & pans, and cooking essentials. They even left wine and crackers for us, which was super thoughtful. The only thing we didn't like was that the neighbors didn't seem too friendly to outsiders. A lot of giant Trump flags, no trespassing signs, and suspicious looks. That's not under the owner's control, of course. And, well....if you like that kind of thing you'll feel right at home. My husband (White, cisgender male) went running a couple of times, and he felt uneasy as several men stepped out of their houses to look him over. Just something to be aware of. We mostly just enjoyed the house itself and a quiet weekend for our anniversary. The owners have really done a wonderful job!! :)
