Wonderful experience
Our weekend stay at the Avery was relaxing and enjoyable. The breakfasts were amazingly prepared. This was our first B&B experience and it did not disappoint. The location was perfect for walking into the downtown shopping district. Our room was clean, updated, and very comfortable. We would highly recommend them.

The property was very clean and updated. It was very conveniently located to Main Street, less than 10 minute walk. The hosts are very friendly and outgoing. They thought of any and all amenities that would be needed and had them available to guests. We will certainly stay there again on our next visit to Galena!

Perfect place in Galena
Beautiful home on a hill as you enter Galena from the east with free street parking by the house. Very comfortable all around (porch, bedding, room). The owner was very informative. Home was very quiet. We never heard people walking around and barely heard anyone talking during the breakfast. Would definitely stay there again.

Can’t wait to come back to Avery House!
A beautifully maintained home with comfortable accommodations walking distance from Main St. Galena. Breakfast was excellent and the best touch is the candy bar at the front door. The beds are VERY comfortable and the rooms are gorgeous. My hubby, the coffee addict LOVED that there was coffee available 24/7. The backyard and porch is perfect for a lazy afternoon. We cannot wait to come back and stay again. We dream about having coffee on the back porch. Bob and Cherish are the BEST hostesses.

Stellar!!!
Our first time in a B&B so I have no point of reference or comparison. We are of the opinion that our experience is now the benchmark for all future B&B planning! We were spoiled since we were the only guests for a couple days prior to the Memorial Day weekend. Having the entire house to ourselves was icing on the cake! Bob and Cherish are amazing hosts! I can’t say enough how we felt at home with down to earth personalities. The conversations we had were filled with knowledge and history of the house and area and more. If given the chance, intellectual conversations flow easily and we had the feeling we knew them as friends since we connected on many levels. Open minded, well educated, and professional through and through! Bob is a badass in the kitchen! Make sure you tell them what you want in the beginning and they (Bob) will make it happen.

Warm welcome by the owners. Bob was eager to please and worked with room and breakfast preference when applicable. His potatoes, eggs and bacon were scrumptious. He was very helpful in offering suggestions on places to eat and visit. Highly recommend this place when visiting Gelena, IL. P.S. they have a candy bar for all to enjoy.

It was close to the area of town we wanted to visit and shop in. Dining was also close by. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast!

Very nice and comfortable
Very nice little B&B at just 4 rooms. We stayed in Lynn Marie , one of the larger rooms and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfasts were large portions for us and delicious. Very close to downtown attractions. Only about 5 or 10 minute walk to restaurants and shops. The hosts were informative about the area.

The property is truly on a hill. When you come from flat Chicago, navigating up potholed streets on the way to the property can be daunting. But I arrived to a lovely property managed by a lovely couple and two dogs. I stayed in the Lydia room which has a comfortable king bed with a couch that can be used as a daybed. It is at the back of the house adjacent to a common room - very private. The bathroom includes a shower and had plenty of soap and towels. The common room had reading material, coffee maker, ice machine, refrigerator, microwave and water cooler. In addition, popcorn, glasses, water bottles and utensils. I felt like I was home! My boyfriend said he wasn’t leaving!! The property also has a backyard oasis with tiered seating with a gazebo. And did I mention the Candy Bar?!? Mini Hershey bars, peanut butter cups, Twix, Kit Kat bars, etc. Lastly, the property is located within walking distance of Main Street. I totally recommend this property.

Beautiful and Historic B&B
Bob and Cherish are phenomenal hosts, think out every detail, are quick with wit and charm, and make sure that each guest feels as welcomed or as left alone as they would like. Myself and my boyfriend love historic homes and prefer to give our dollars locally. Neither of us had ever stayed in a B&B and I was a bit nervous we would have an experience reminiscent of the Cheshire Cat in Gilmore Girls, if anyone else can relate to that reference. The Avery is an immaculate home, dutifully cleaned, well preserved, the beds and bedding are high quality, and the hosts were the gravy to the weekend. We spent much of our time away from the B&B, but the breakfast and socialization we experienced each morning made me wish I had more time to relax in the garden (which is also unbelievably gorgeous). I will be recommending this to my friends!

My wife and I sprung this reservation an hour before check-in on Bob and Cherish. Despite the short notice and only for a single night, Bob was very accommodating. He gave us a wonderful tour of the property and low down on spots to hit in town. The property is very easy walking distance to downtown attractions. We were looking for a low key home base for the evening and next morning and thats what we got. Bed was comfy, the grounds were beautiful and breakfast was great. I would definitely stay again.

Avery on Prospect is a beautiful mid 19th century home that has been fully updated without losing any of its charm. Our host, Bob, welcomed us with the wonderful history of this landmark home. The furnishings and amenities were all spot on. Bob was a delightful, entertaining host and marvelous cook who offered us right out of the oven homemade blueberry muffins, and his very special potatoes and onions complementing yummy scrambled eggs. His wife, Cherish offered her homemade granola with yogurt and blueberries. We did not leave hungry. The only drawback might be the stairs which could be difficult for some. That being said, I would enthusiastically recommend this guest house to anyone traveling to Galena. Judy T

Great B&B to stay in Galena
The new owners (Bob and Cherish) were amazing hosts for my weekend in Galena. The property is beautiful and well-maintained, and you can tell they care a lot about keeping the property looking nice. Bob is an amazing cook and we had two delicious breakfasts from him! The property was located really close to main street, and we were able to walk there pretty easily from the B&B. Also a nice hiking trail with easy access near the B&B. Overall, I'd definitely stay here again next time I'm in Galena.

Adorable B&B! Totally worth it!
Amazing B&B experience! Bob and Cherish are super nice and they make a fantastic breakfast every morning that you don't want to miss. There was absolutely nothing that we would have improved as it was perfect. We're looking forward to going back again in the future. The room was very clean, it was very quiet, and the whole house had a very cozy, welcoming atmosphere.

Historic B&B very well maintained yet integrated smartly with modern amenities. Bob and his wife great. Brief historical overview then available when needed.
