Room was not nice the all strong smell mot bomb, outside trash full toilet Brooke, the another one not flush we have to upgrade our budge up and moved a different property. Highly disappointed

The perfect stay

We stayed in the wine down for our family vacation in July. It was the perfect pick for my family of 5! We have teenagers ages 13-15,15 and they absolutely LOVED staying here! We used the kayaks provided and my kids did plenty of fishing. My son caught several catfish along the canal. The house was very clean and accommodating. The air works great! We brought extra towels, TP and amenities of our own but plenty were already provided. There is more than enough in the kitchen as far as appliances and dish wear which was very nice. The location is close to the beach, eateries and groceries but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the Galveston Seawall area. Pariah coffee became a morning ritual and is a short drive down the road. I love how there was a list of local shops, cafes, bait shops, etc. provided at the house. I found that very helpful. It was quiet, peaceful and beautiful. I wish I would have booked our stay for a couple more days. Maybe next time!

Fishing trip

Renter beware. The pictures were better than the actual property. Should be listed as two bedrooms

This place is a mess. plumber came out to fix commode. Left saying too old and can’t get parts. We entertained 12 people with one toilet. Nasty downstairs. BR downstairs is uninhabitable. If kids stay there it is child abuse. Canoes nasty. Swing nasty. Refrigerator downstairs rotting. Repairs were partial. Tv only had Houston stations and channels off no watch. No sports channels. Rental people know they do not have to listen to any renter more than 5-7 days so they pacify and wait till the next renters. This place needs to be torn down and build a place that gets it into the same decade of rentals. Overall a disaster and waste of money.

False advertisement/unsafe

Save yourself a lot of disappointment, do not rent this property. The pictures and description of the property are totally inaccurate. The 3rd "bedroom" is a former storage room with no central A/C. All but one room have bunk beds. Main house only has 1 shower. Strong smell of mold and mildew through out the property.

We Made It Work

We had a great weekend, the house location was great, the size of the house was perfect. But it was supposed to be a 3 bedroom and it ended up being a 2 bedroom bc the third room downstairs window unit was only blowing hot air and it's 90°+ here in Texas. Other than that we had a Jam Up Time!!!!!

April Getaway

We stayed at the smaller house on the property before and decided to rent the larger one this time. Just a quick getaway to do some fishing and relieve some work stress. It was a perfect weekend, great weather, great fishing - caught lots of fish. This house isn’t super fancy but for what we needed we didn’t want to pay for a $400 - $500 night house so this was perfect

BFF getaway with our families

Guests: Me and my best friend (31 and 36) and our families. My parents (in their 50s) and sister (17), plus my bff's boyfriend and children (13 and 14). It was absolutely perfect!!! We enjoyed every minute. We had beautiful sunsets, and also a view of the full moon. I love the open concept living room / kitchen. We prefer to stay on the bayside because it is cheaper, and also you can kayak or swim in the canal. The 3rd bedroom is downstairs, almost like a separate apartment. Also, the bathroom upstairs is jack and jill, with two toilet rooms and one shared shower, which was perfect. We loved the downstairs area with the outdoor kitchen and sitting areas. We also loved the kayaks and the floating foam platform -- so much fun! Next time, we will rent the property next door as well (it's a studio) and bring more people. A few minor issues: low water pressure, wood deck is old and has splinters, the stove was hard to cook on because it didn't heat up well (but def still useable), and they did not provide very many bath towels. The upstairs deck is also very sunny during the day and a bit of shade would have been nice. Also 11 am checkout is a bit early for us... All in all, it was such a fabulous trip. We would come back for sure. Thank you!

Great Place for Vacation

We had an amazing time! House has everything you need to cook with plenty of out door water toys including 2 tandem kayaks and a paddle board for kids 130lbs and under! Would definitely rent again!

Paradise

This place really is amazing. My husband and I planned on sleeping in the room on the bottom because my 14 year old daughter felt safer upstairs not knowing anything about the area. We were shocked to see a bunkbed and a twin bed in the bottom room and the 2 top rooms had king beds. The bottom of the bunkbed was a full size so my husband and I did stay in the bottom room . It was amazing to wake up and walk out the door and be able to fish or just jump into the water. The view was amazing. We met the owners the second day and were pleasantly surprised they were so nice and accommodating. They even took us out on their boat during out stay. There are kayaks and paddle boards and a huge floating mat and bikes that go along with the house. This place had everything. We brought our own kayaks and my husband spent 3 days fishing on his kayak and cought so many fish. He likes to catch and release. There is an elevator which was amazing for my inlaws. It was a huge bonus. The outside kitchen was great for cold drinks by the canal. We rented a golf cart from Rick's for the week. That is definitely a must. We drove it everywhere. We got to see all the beautiful homes in the community and drive it to the beach. If you get a golf cart I suggest to get an electric one because the gas one was so loud. This honestly was the best and most relaxing vacation I have ever had. We will definitely be back.

Wine Down

Upon arrival, which was early because we were told no one was there and the property was clean the owner was there making "repairs". The garbage disposal was not working. There was tape over the button for it and a bucket underneath to catch the water. The smell was disgusting. The cabinets had left over food on them and the dishes were all dirty. Once we read the check out list we understood why the dishes were dirty. They ask you to have everything clean and put away in the cabinets before check out. We have stayed in many rentals and we always load the dish washer and then leave it so when cleaning gets there they put away the clean dishes. The downstairs that is a bunk room was mildewed and we had to dump the humidifier 3 time's and still did not feel comfortable with a child staying down there. The kicker was that we were paying for a 3 bedroom home and the studio next door had 12-15 people staying there at any time. We were asked to move 1 of our 2 cars that we had on the property so they could fit a 6th one behind ours. When we called the property management company and told them they said that they could send a cleaning crew over that Saturday but we had already cleaned and we had a toddler who was about to take a nap. I had called the afternoon before they closed at 4:50pm and no one picked up so I then called the emergency number and left a message. No one called me back and I had to call again the next morning. I still have not herd back from anyone after I spoke with them on Saturday. The only time someone called was Sunday to see where the keys where and they were dropping them off. When I asked if someone was going to call me back about the issues we had she said that Joel was going to be in and would call me when he got there and was going to do a walk through. Needless to say we would never stay at this property again and would not use the management company again. Also, the outlets barely held in a plug and they had paper over some that said do not use. With a child this is of course concerning. Everything needed some major TLC. Also, very ironic that this place was called Wine Down when there was not 1 wine glass in the house. I have given the management company 2 days since check out to reach back out to us and still have not heard anything back. They had mentioned waiving the cleaning fee but since yesterday afternoon I have not heard back.

Perfect location and relaxing atmosphere

The Wine Down is a very nice and relaxing home. The outdoor decks and sitting area made it such that we could enjoy the day watching the water and birds. The house provided lots of amenities for our family to enjoy beach toys, bikes and kayaks. The down stairs deck area provided plenty of seating, bar space and grills to make for wonderful family gathering. Note regarding bedrooms: 2 King size beds are upstairs and one room with bunk bed and single bed is downstairs off the patio. It was not a problem for our group of older kids/teens but could be misleading if you are thinking of using the bunk bed room for smaller children.

Not good

The breaker kept tripping and the microwave wouldn’t work. Water bugs were bad as well. 1 out of the five bikes worked. All of the floaties had holes in them. The patio furniture was not very nice. Toilet in one of the bathrooms did not work well at all.
