Unik 1700-talsstuga nära Loch Lomond och Trossachs

Lilybank är full av karaktär. Det är en 2 sovrum, 2 badrum stuga byggd 1781 (en av de äldsta i byn). Stugan ligger i den pittoreska byn Killearn vid foten av Campsie Fell-området, en miljö för många filmproduktioner.
Detta område användes också för olika platsinställningar i träffserien - "Outlander". Vi är 10 minuter från filmplatsen - Devils preekstol.
Stugan - Det finns 2 sovrum, båda med eget badrum med dusch / badrum (ett övervåningen med dubbelsäng och ett nedervåningen med 2 singlar som kan ändras till en dubbelsäng vid behov)
Köket är välfylt med ingredienser och köksredskap. Det finns en stor kyl och frys och Everhot serie spis med inbyggda ekenheter och bänkskivor av granit. Loungen har en mycket varm kolbraskamin.
På baksidan av stugan finns en vinterträdgård som leder ut mot ett stort terrassområde och en två nivå trädgård, med gräsytor, parkering för ett antal bilar, grill och cykeltäckning.

Området -Killearn ligger i närheten av Trossachs, Loch Lomond, västra höglandsvägen och många andra välkända sevärdheter. De historiska städerna Stirling, Perth och Edinburgh ligger en kort bilresa bort.

Byn själv har en Coop-butik, en utmärkt pub och restaurang. Det finns många andra anläggningar inom gångavstånd eller en kort bilresa bort. Glengoyne destilleri ligger inom gångavstånd och turer ger en utmärkt dag ut.

WiFi- Stugan har en bra wifi-signal.

Golf - Närliggande kurser finns på Balfron och Drymen. Saint Andrews Old Course och Fife-länksleden ligger cirka 1 timme och 30 minuters bilresa bort. Här finns många golfbanor i världsklass.

Cykling - Det finns många cykelleder som finns lokalt och i den närliggande drottningen Elizabeth Forrest. Cyklar kan hyras i Drymen.

Promenader och klättring - Killearn ligger cirka 30 minuters bilresa från Ben Lomond, den sydligaste Munro. Det finns också ett antal Munros en kort bilresa norrut längs Loch Lomonds bredd. Det finns flera vandringsleder runt byn och högt i Campsies med utsikt över byn.

Fiske - med tillstånd vid floden Endrick och Lake of Menteith, Loch Lomond.

Butiker i byn - kemist / läkarkirurgi, tesalonger, Hewitt- och Aker-delikatesser, Panik-galleriet, Old Mill Inn bar och restaurang.

Transport - bussförbindelse per timme till Glasgow, Stirling.

Mat / hemleverans - Saffron Tandoori och Balfron kinesiska beläget i Balfron, en 5 minuters bilresa eller med hemleveransservice. Det finns också en bra chipbutik i Balfron.

Öarna - Arran-färjan vid Ardrossan ligger en timmes bilresa från Killearn. Färjetrafiken tar 1 timme. Ön kan också nås via Clonaig-färjan på västkusten. Detta är en härlig naturskön enhet.
Det finns många andra som enkelt kan besökas på en dag från Greenock / Gourock - 45 minuters bilresa från killearn.

Whisky Distilleries- Glengoyne ligger mindre än en mil från Killearn. Det är en härlig promenad genom skogarna och kullarna för att komma dit.
Auchentoshan ligger cirka 10 mil bort. Båda ger utmärkta turer.

We had a great stay at Caroline and Ken’s place. It’s a lovely typically Scottisch house. Inside and out. Warm and with eye for detail. It’s noticible that it it’s owners take care of it with love. If you like to walk, cicle or have interest in history, there’s enough information about the surroundings. It only takes a 15 minutes to half an hour drive te climb your first Mountain in the Highlands or visit the city of Glasgow. If you stay in the Coop is around the corner, and there’s always the pub. Thanks Caroline and Ken, for having us!

This lovely cottage is warm and welcoming, and we, a family of four, have spent a wonderful time here. The kitchen, especially the Everhot, is simply a fantastic place for enjoying family dinners in a very cosy setting. The living room is just as you would expect—cosy and full of comfortable furniture.A highlight of the master bedroom is the soft Tempur mattress, which makes every night a dream. The landlord, Ken, was always available for any questions that came up—fantastic support.If you're looking for a truly traditional cottage in the beautiful area of Killean, you should definitely consider this one.

Practicality problems

Dishwasher is a must. Cleanliness of cooking equipment lacking (no dishwasher, eco products?). Limited surfaces for food preparation or computer/printer connection. Beautiful bathroom upstairs, but sink has no mixer tap nor plug, and wet shaving is a trial given the mirror situation. Sleep quality affected by too small bed size.Unfortunately not the property for us.

Great cottage in a super location

We loved our 3 week stay at this delightful cottage. It was extremely comfortable, with a well equiped kitchen to self cater and a super co-op just minutes walk away. The large smart TV was also a bonus as we were there during Wimbledom and the start of the Olympics.We loved the village and all the wonderful walks that were available to us right from the front door. Killearn is also extremely well located to so many attractions making it easy to venture out on half day or day trips. Ken was a super host, very responsive and very helpful which made the whole experience even more memorable. Thank you so much.

Wonderful time north of the border

Lovely stay in a quaint and comfortable cottage. Loved the kitchen and cooking on the range. Absolutely loved the tv and surround sound system. The village pub was brilliant. Very friendly and very busy but the food was wonderful. An excellent week.

Lilybank

Es war ein schöner Aufenthalt in einem altem hübschen Haus. Das Haus ist sehr individuell und liebevoll gestaltet. Es gibt sehr viel zu gucken, was es allerdings auch etwas eng macht. Der Everhotoven ist gewöhnungsbedürftig.Die Umgebung bietet viele Möglichkeiten, Natur und Städte. Ein sehr schöner Urlaub.

Cozy retreat

We had a lovely time at Ken's and Caroline's small cottage. It was our honeymoon and Ken was kind enough to postpone our stay due to booking difficulties on our part. The Cottage is located in a nice scottish village that has a great restaurant and is all around quite lovely. The cottage itself is very cozy and is well equipped for guest. Especially the kitchen has massive amounts of kitchen ware with which to cook, although the stove is rather unusual (because it's always on). Works well enough though. Also there were a good amounts of cooking ingredients already there which made cooking for only a few days a lot easier and cheaper cause we didn't have to get things like Salt or Pepper in larger amounts. There was fast Wifi and a well equipped TV, a fireplace with wood supplied. Communication was great as well. Instructions always understandable and always fast replies. Two smaller complaints though: the cottage in general is rather dark, even when it's sunny outside. Nothing major and nothing that could be done about it, just a small thing that we per se didn't like as much. Secondly it was always somewhat colder in the cottage because the heat had to be turned on manually and took a while to get warm. So whenever we went out or during the night it cooled considerably. Again nothing major but irked us a bit. Overall a great little place in a very cute but still feeling modern little village.

Characterful home in an ideal location for touring…

Characterful and quirky, Ken and Caroline’s home is a cozy base for either setting out for a day of adventure or taking the many wonderful hikes right from their front door, or sitting by the fire as you listen to the rain. The bed is very comfortable and the showers are good. The bathrooms and bedrooms were clean. Killearn was an ideal location, with the Co-op just minutes from the house and three choices for coffee or a meal a short walk away.. The people were welcoming and friendly. We had a wonderful stay!

Cozy cottage, well-situated and well-equipped in a good location

Cottage is exactly as pictured, very characterful. Makes you feel like you're very much in Scotland - big plus when you're visiting the region as a tourist. The house is well-equipped, with everything you'd need for cooking, washing, a big TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime, good WiFi. One thing it doesn't have is a dishwasher. And a thing you might need to get used to, is the Everhot oven, which is exactly that: always hot, no knobs to turn or dials to read. But we found it convenient, popping in the bread for a few minutes in the morning and getting great results with oven-prepared offerings from M&S. When you're done eating, sorting the waste can be a bit of a chore. It's nothing the owners can help or do about, but you have to sort all waste into five different bins. Luckily, the owners detail what waste goes into which bin in the provided manual - and apart from the manual there are a lot of labels and signs around the house with pointers/instructions for various things. The village of Killearn was a lovely surprise. It might not seem like much on the map, but it has plenty to offer. The Co-op supermarket just 50 meters down the road, is small but has pretty much everything you need and is open all day until late, even on Sundays. Then there's the The Old Mill pub/restaurant, a 5-minute walk, with good food and drinks. The Kitchen Window on the other side of the road for a coffee and some lunch. For the kids, there's a big playground/park practically around the corner. Around Killearn, there's a lot to explore. Loch Lomond is close by, cities like Stirling and Glasgow are half-hour drives. In between are castles and distilleries, little villages with great charm. All in all, if you're planning a vacation to Scotland, Lilybank is a perfect base.

Beautiful Cottage and absolutely wonderful hosts!!!

Lilybank was a wonderful place to stay. The cottage was exactly as stated. Ken could not have been anymore helpful with us! He was extremely responsive! The Everhot was a bit intimidating but worked like a charm. The back porch was a great place to wrap up a long day of activities. We had a great time talking, listening to music and enjoying the privacy. I would absolutely recommend Lilybank to anyone. My only advice would be to bring a top sheet for the bedding. This was my first time to the UK and was unaware top sheets are not customary. Overall 5 star!!!

Holiday Scotland 2021

Lovely cosy cottage in beautiful country setting

Me and my two children (7 and 4) had an amazing week at Lilybank. The cottage is like a home from home - so comfy and cosy. The garden is beautiful and perfect for relaxing in after a long day exploring. The village is lovely and peaceful with a great pub and convenient grocery shop. It's also well placed to explore the surrounding area.
