Lyxig 18th Century Historiska School House

Tierneevin, Gort, Co Galway, Irland

Shawe-Taylors Old School House är en underbar plats för golf, vandring och avkoppling. Namnet Tierneevin är en irländsk ord som betyder "En vacker plats", så namnet talar för sig själv. Detta är en mycket lyxig byggnad och vi är mycket stolta över målet under förutsättning. Vi är säkra på att våra kräsna gäster kommer att njuta av semestra i denna vackra del av Irland. Charmigt period skolhus (ca 1820), som nyligen restaurerats till sin ursprungliga glans. Miljövänlig interiör slutade med andas produkter såsom kalkbruk på väggar, pitch pine och traditionell flagga på golv. Isolerad hela har skol en hög energi betyg. Med sin katedral stil tak, träbjälkar och en mezzanine / balkong sovrum, det är vackert presenteras med antika möbler hela, lägga enorm värme och karaktär. Detta är en underbar plats att komma bort från all stress i ett område med enastående naturskönhet och geologi.

Perfekt för en golfande och / eller promenader semester. Gort Golf Club är bokstavligen på din tröskel med mycket rimliga priser tillgängliga, och ett utmärkt klubbhus och restaurang. Denna fantastiska 18-håls golfbana ligger på 160 tunnland pittoreska parklandskap, med utsikt över Burren och Clare Hills. Golfbanan designades av 1989 Ryder Cup hjälten Christy O'Connor. Den består av fyra utestående par-3: s, en test par-5 nionde och en fantastisk par-4, huggen igenom av Burren sten och naturliga vattendrag. Från fastigheten kan du ta en härlig 3 mil cirkulär promenad, som löper genom Burren landskapet. Landskap, fåglar och vilda djur, botanik, geologi och arkeologi - alla kan avnjutas på denna korta promenad. Också i närheten är Kilmacduagh klostret med flera kyrkor och ett runt torn. Klostret grundades i den 7: e talet av Saint Colman Mac Duagh, därav namnet Kilmacduagh (kyrkan son Duac). Kinvara och Ballyvaughan finns närliggande fiske- och bondbyar både i utkanten av Galway Bay. För shopping finns Galway City och Ennis, båda bara 20 minuters bilresa från fastigheten. Det finns många fina restauranger i närheten i Gort och Kinvara.

We stayed with two children and grandparents. The cottage and surrounding property were idyllic. The home is perfectly located to explore the Galway and Cliffs of Moher area. The owners met us to give us a tour of the house and show us how things worked which we felt was above and beyond. Cons- The home is not as clean as we would have liked and we found all the cookware needs to be updated. Overall, we had a nice stay in this charming home.

The house was absolutely fabulous. We had a great time with our family, and it was so nice of the owner, Brid, to meet us there and show us around the property. She also gave us wonderful recommendations for local restaurants and attractions. The house is centrally located for quick day trips to Galway and the cliffs of Moore, etc. Our children particularly loved interacting with the donkeys and the cows on the perimeter of the property. It was a wonderful house and we highly recommend it. If we ever come back to Ireland, we would definitely stay there again.

We stayed here over Easter. The house is amazing it has everything you could ever need. It’s in an excellent location to visit the sites of Co Clare & Co Galway. The host is a lovely man & easily contacted.

Ideal time

Perfect stay in the old Schoolhouse, John was very helpful when we met to go over details of the house. Location couldn’t be more ideal for exploring the area. Gort has nice restaurants, pubs. Grocery shopping options are Lidl, Aldi,SuperValu. Would love stay again in the near future

A lovely base from which to explore Western Ireland

Just 50km from Galway and in the countryside, this home was a wonderful base for explorations from Connemara down to Limerick. We could have fared further but for lack of time. The home is quite charming, Brid gave us excellent recommendations for nearby eateries and had stocked the home with information useful to tourists. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone who is considering a visit while the home is available.

Better than the photos

This place was amazing. John is friendly with a wonderful sense of humor. The schoolhouse is just gorgeous, cozy, and inviting. Anything we needed could be found in the house. And the two donkeys stole our hearts. We fed them the first day and they called for us at the gate every morning and evening. (They love carrots!) There are ruins of a monastery a short drive away, well worth a visit. The location is very central to any of the sights. Careful of the narrow roads if you are driving and stay cognizant of the little pullovers. You might have to back up!

Lovely cottage in the country

Beautiful setting for this cottage! We loved our week stay and had a great base to travel in this area. There was plenty of room for 6 adults. We also had so much fun feeding the family donkeys!! Please note that the property is not in the city area of Gort (like the map shows)-it is a few miles outside, in the country. Our family hopes to be back soon.

Lovely vacation in Ireland

Very friendly hosts, house is large enough for a Family and utterly clean. All sights at Ireland‘s West Coast are easy to reach because it is close to the motorway. Shops and Restaurants are close by. The Hosts had lots of great tips! We will happily come back!

Warm and inviting home

We really enjoyed staying in the school house converted into a family home. It felt very spacious and warm and inviting as if we were at our own home. Brid welcomed us and showed us how to work everything. Some of it was different for us coming from the States so the tour was appreciated. We recommend this house rental 100%!

The School House was a Treasure.

There were 4 of us. Originally I thought the property was closer/or in town. It is not. You are about 2km from town. But that is ok. This place is really nice, we loved it. From this location, with a rented car, Ireland is your oyster. We day tripped from the house in every direction, plus Gort has a rail connection and Dublin is an easy trip away. The accomodations are spot on and John is a helpful host. We would rebook in an instant.

First time in Ireland

This was our first trip to Ireland and it couldn’t have been better. The old school house was just what we were looking for. John was so helpful with places to see. He told us about the Burren Perfumery so we drove out to it. The drive alone was wonderful. The perfumery was excellent, can’t wait for the production be delivered home. I would stay at the old school house anytime! Thank you John, for a wonderful visit to Ireland!

Large House in the Country

It was a quiet place, around the corner from a Catholic Church, where we attended Mass. It was charming. Isolated from the hurly-burly of the town of Gort. Beds were comfortable and kitchen was superb. Living room was large and comfortable and plenty of shelf space for all our daily stuff.

Perfect House

We had such a nice Week in the old School House, which was lovingly furnished and very good equiped. The introduction through the Owner was very nice and helpful with lots of recommendations for many things. We loved the scenerie around and felt so comfortable there.
