Bars and food are available in the clubhouse and retreat, with a Sunday roast a must-have (opening times vary). Redwings Horse Sanctuary has its own café/shop, including toys, souvenirs and more (well worth a look), opening times vary. All are within walking distance and part of Caldecott Country Park.

Nearby, the Norfolk Broads beckon with their intricate waterways and diverse wildlife. Rent a boat or take a guided tour to navigate these enchanting channels, which are home to an array of bird species, including kingfishers and swans. For a day at the nearest beach, Gorleston is less than 15 minutes by car, plenty of parking and has a golden, sandy beach, yacht pond, arcade; get the small adults an ice-cream or yourselves a coffee or fish and chips at various points along the promenade. Alternatively, visit Great Yarmouth’s Golden Mile and enjoy a thrilling ride at the Pleasure Beach Amusement Park. Further along the coast, you have seaside magic of Sheringham and Cromer and savour fresh seafood, such as the traditional Cromer crab.
