We could not find anything about the hotel to complain about. The food was beyond excellent and it was a joy to eat and savour the varied dishes provided both in the buffet and a la carte! The staff were all friendly and attentive and the slow pace of life soon engulfed us and we felt relaxed and totally at home which is exactly what you need on a holiday. Will definitely be going back!

Beautiful and well maintained grounds and pools. Rooms were spacious and very clean. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom products were very nice and they kept them stocked daily. Food at the buffet and Italian restaurant were very good. Great selection of choices of food. Only complaint would be that with the half board plan, no drinks were provided with the dinner, not even water! Also, even though we had our room set to do not disturb, the maids still entered our rooms and cleaned and people knocked on our doors to refill coffee etc. Those were the only things that bugged me and that’s really not anything to worry about. Honestly, It’s definitely the best hotel on the island! We rented a car and traveled over the entire island. The best beaches are on the west side of the island. Xi beach is right by the resort and is one of the nicest. Try the tavern on Xi beach. The food is really good and cheap! The hotel is worth the money for sure. We got massages at the spa and the ladies there were wonderful. We loved our stay and the island. Next time I would spend a little more and get a villa with a private pool 😀

Découverte d'îles grecques (Céphalonie et Ithaque) encore méconnues et préservées. Magnifiques, luxuriantes avec des paysages fabuleux. Un savant mélange d'activités diverses (plage, ballade...) a rendu ce séjour dépaysant et reposant.

Great for large families
Negatives - very inflexible reservation staff. I booked 5 rooms for my family and ended up adding an additional nights. Considering the size of the booking, I would have thought they would have been much more accommodating with my requests. Positives - The Resort was great, lots of space for kids. Great pool areas and the food was decent. Fresh fruit at mealtimes were excellent.

On our behalf we have tried our best to meet your needs. Upon arrival all rooms received fruit & wine, 4 out of 5 rooms were free upgraded and allocated next to the other even though your reservation was during high season and we were fully booked. Our reservation department helped you with all the details in order for 3 rooms of your family to be able to extend their stay and even when one room of your reservation didn't check out as it was supposed to do at 12:00 we waited till 19:00 for them to return without causing them any inconvinience. Insgesamt eine schöne und saubere Anlage. Der Service lässt etwas zu wünschen übrig. Großer Minuspunkt: Die Gläser waren morgens wie abends immer dreckig. Wir waren in dem neuen Teil des Hotels. Die Ausstattung des Zimmers war hochwertig, allerdings wurde ziemlich unsauber gearbeitet.

Excellent séjour à Céphalonie fin septembre
Excellent séjour à l'Apollonion Resort de Xi Beach.Excellente nourriture et service impéccable sauf au bar près du restaurant où les sièges en bois ont presque tous des fientes d'oiseaux ( le personnel ne les nettoie pas même après une remarque) et les sièges en tissus sont très vieux et très sales. Les chambres sont bien conçues et très agréables, nettoyage quotidien très satisfaisant. Belle piscine et très belle plage de sable fin à 300m idéale pour les familles et les seniors. Nous n'avons pas rencontré de francophone durant notre séjour d'une semaine, anglais très utile. Voiture indispensable pour des visites intéressantes (Argostoli et ses énormes tortues marines à voir le matin entre 9h et 11h, criques superbes et villages de montagne ...). Pas de moustique ou très peu pour un séjour du 17 au 24 septembre avec eau de la mer et de la piscine bien agréable.

du + et du -, tout dépend ce que l'on privilégie
hôtel à la déco plutôt triste ( couleurs ternes) et pourtant peintures récentes, nous n'avons pas apprécié d'avoir pour deux une chambre familiale avec mezzanine, ce qui la rendait beaucoup moins jolie. Coussins, sièges à la piscine ou au bar sales très belle salle de bains, très bonne insonorisation une très jolie plage de sable à 400m,idéale pour des enfants Point vraiment faible: la qualité du buffet, nous ne nous sommes pas régalés sauf à la soirée grecque, 4 desserts au choix chaque fois et souvent les mêmes( + des fruits) Bon emplacement de l'hôtel grâce au ferry qui permet de traverser directement de Lixouri à Argostoli

Pool area closes at 6pm, which is too early.
Definitely not a 5* hotel. Very disappointed to find the pool and the whole pool area closed at 6pm - this seemed very early, especially on hot days - we had to go to a friends hotel after 6pm. There is only one pool which felt rather small for the size of the hotel -the other pool shown in the photos was for the private use of certain guests. The pool often felt busy, even though the hotel wasn't full. Breakfast was ok, no fresh juices. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Beautiful planting around the grounds. Plenty of parking. Locally there isn't much on offer - a few tavernas by the beach, but Xi beach isn't very nice. For a nice beach you have to go to Patani - half an hours drive. The children claimed the wifi wasn't very good

Overall hotel very nice and got a complimentary room upgrade however service wasn’t very good, and in the bar was extremely poor. On one occasion my group of 6 waited approximately 30 minutes (possibly more) to receive some drinks. The bar wasn’t even very busy at the time and there seemed like there were sufficient staff around. On pretty much every occasion though the drinks took a lot longer than they should have and the staff never seemed terribly apologetic. I would give the hotel in general 4-5 stars. Service by the pool/bar area 1-2.

It was a lovely hotel, honestly nothing bad to say
It was a wonderful hotel, one of the best places we have ever stayed at as a family of five. We stayed in one of the maisonettes and they were fabulous as they had their own pool which linked to a larger one and it was great to have a second bathroom for our teenagers to share upstairs.

Really great relaxing break
We had a great time relaxing at this hotel. Getting there isnt well publicised so we arranges a taxi (through the hotel) which we negotiated a cost of €80 (each way) before we left the UK. If we had researched a little better, we would have found there was a ferry to Laxouri then a taxi to the hotel (my advice-do this) for half the price. On arrival, staff were great, cold drinks were given at the reception, bags were taken and we were shown to our room. Really nice, clean, spacious room bottle of wine and a bowl of fruit to welcome us in. Ventured down to the pool, no problems throughout finding loungers always loads to choose from every day, no need to lay towels out. Pool was a great relaxing treat, quiet and tranquille. We stayed half board, breakfast far and away the best meal the hotel offered, wide ranging selection of any style of breakfast, including a quality full English. Dinner, in our view was dissapointing. Evening entertainment was sparse but did cater for everyones tastes, again a little disappointing bar staff were friendly. We ventured out to the beach which had some nice bars and views, this served as a leg stretch and break with a little more activity and noise. Small mini market offered a nice range of drinks and snack should you wish to stay on you veranda for a night cap. Return to the airport was a breeze using the ferry. All in all, we had a great break at a beautiful hotel, I would recommend this hotel for a relaxing break.

Excellent family friendly hotel
I just can't fault this hotel. Although initially I thought it was not big enough for 5 star, for a small Greek island I would rate as 5 star. We were there with our 7 year old son so was looking for safe, clean, family friendly hotel and the staff working there offered it all. They are incredibly kind, helpful and lovely people. The pool, bar, restaurant, rooms are very very clean and well maintained. Hotel is 5 mins walk to beautiful Xi beach which is sandy, organised with lots of restaurants and mini markets around. I would totally go back and very strongly recommend. Just be aware it is at least one hour taxi ride from the airport which cost us EUR 80 and 1.5 hours away from port Poros for ferry transfers. We strongly recommend you to hire a care to see other parts of the island also which can be arranged by the hotel with parking amenities.

Not quite five star but excellent value for money
nice modern hotel with everything you would expect. Not really five star but when you compare prices it's very competitive (although wine and drinks typically overpriced!). Outdoor cinema a nice touch though.

Great hotel can't fault it
Just got back from a two week stay. The hotel is very well run the staff are amazing. The rooms are cleaned daily. Wifi isn't great in the rooms. The restaurant has a great variety of Food great breakfast lots to choose from. The evening food pasta, different meats loads of salads which I loved. Shame there wasn't more fish dishes as I don't eat meat but veggie option was good. The cocktails are great especially the expresso martinis after dinner. We went down to xi beach most days. Baywatch did the best burgers and salads. Also fish bones is to the left of the beach have to walk through the water very authentic food lots of fresh fish. Two weeks was too long for us 10 days would be fine. The food repeats it's self in the restaurant. Did the Thomson boat trip which was great fun went to some lovely beaches. The Greek people can't do enough for you.

Our second stay - even better than the first time!
We stayed for 10 days with our 8 year old daughter in mid-July 2016. We had previously stayed at the hotel for 7 days in 2014 at the same time of year. Having holidayed in a different country/resort last year, our daughter was adamant that we return to the Apollonion as we had had such a wonderful holiday two years ago. It was the first time that my wife or I had returned to a hotel/resort and the Hotel Apollonion was every bit as good as we remembered. This visit, we were upgraded from a family deluxe to a suite which we actually didn't want. When we went to reception to ask if there was a possibility of being down-graded again, they were so understanding and had us moved within two hours. This sort of helpfulness and customer service permeates every aspect of the hotel staff. The battery in our hire care went flat one morning - the maintenance team (completely of their own accord) sprang into action and eventually phoned the local rent-a-car place to bring round some jump leads. Within 3 minutes, the car was up and running again. Absolutely brilliant. The food in the buffet for breakfast and dinner is great - huge choice and always something for everyone; the view from the rooms (we were in 327) is stunning; the rooms are well appointed and stylish; the outdoor pool and sunbeds are just right; and the cocktail of the day was sampled religiously! Superb holiday and we will definitely return to the Hotel Apollonion for a third time at some point in the future.

thank you very much for your comments. Sorry about the discomfort of the pool towels but it turns out to be the only way to control this service. We had it free and available in the room before but at the end of the season more than 1000 towels were missing.

Very good resort
We had a fantastic stay at the Appolonion Resort & Spar. The staff are extremely polite coupled with the overall cleanliness of the resort makes for a very relaxing holiday. The upkeep of the resort should also be mentioned as it a credit to the and owners.

Well kept hotel with excellent service and food
We had a fabulous weeks stay at this hotel in September and we found it very good value and hard to beat on service and food. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable? The pool area was always very clean and never too busy to find a bed for sunbathing. The nearby beach was slightly disappointing though as it was just a thin strip of sand with lots of sun beds and I prefer something a bit quieter. Saying that however the sea and sand where very clean. It is advisable to hire a car, as the hotel is quite remote and it is worth exploring the island. We like the Petonai beach which was a drive down a hillside but well worth it. All in all though I wouldn't hesitate in returning to this hotel as the standard was high in all aspects.

A very nice hotel within 5 minutes from the beach. Excellent facilities at the hotel, very friendly staff who can't do enough for the guests. The food is fantastic something for every one.

Resort a cinque minuti a piedi dal mare
L'hotel e' ubicato vicino ad una spiaggia di sabbia rossa molto lunga, dove si trovano depositi di argilla con cui e' possibile fare i fanghi. Il mare come in tutto il resto dell'isola e' molto bello. L'hotel ha camere graziose e pulite, il personale molto gentile e il cibo di buon livello e abbastanza vario.

Fantastisk sted! Elendig mad, næsten uspiselig og slet ikke græsk. Discount. Vildt og stærkt irriterende, at poolen har adgang forbudt før 10 om morgenen og efter 18 om aftenen. Så vidt jeg kan se, er der heller ingen grund til det, for den skal ikke overdækkes. Vi, der er væk hele dagen, har netop brug for at hoppe i poolen på de tidspunkter, hvor der er adgang forbudt. Der er også en stærk adfærdskontrol på stedet. Fx skal man hente sine badehåndklæder om morgenen, krydse af, aflevere om aftenen og krydse af igen. Vi stjæler sgu ikke jeres grimme håndklæder!

Un hotel signorile.
Ottimo hotel per chi vuole una vacanza serena gustando ottimi cibi , lontano dalla confusione, in un ambiente signorile ed in mezzo a gente educata e gentile. All'arrivo la nostra camera non era pronta e siamo stati ospitati nella suite : un vero upgrade , praticamente una villetta con con due camere, soggiorno, patio , solarium, due bagni piscina iacuzzi privata e accesso personale alla piscina riservata al complesso delle suites.

Albergo moderno e ben gestito. Il personale è gentilissimo. Adatto per chi si vuole riposare e non vuole rinunciare atutti i confort. Il cibo servito ė di ottima qualità. La clientela ė principalmente nord europea per cui nel resort si respira un clima di tranquillità e di educazione senza schiamazzi e urla. Gli italiani sono pochissimi. forse non particolarmente adatto agli adolescenti che vorrebbero divertirsi con animazione, balli, ecc ( che non ci sono). Il mare ė a 5 minuti a piedi ed ė bello anche se la spiaggia rossa a mio avviso non ė eccezionale

In campagna ma non lontano dal mare.
Anche per questioni d'età (73) io e mia moglie avevamo da tempo deciso di non fare più vacanze al mare, che abbiamo sempre trovato piuttosto noiose. Ci siamo lasciati trascinare da una coppia di amici che c'erano già stati l'anno scorso e cercavano compagnia. Vedrete, ci avevano detto, si noleggia una vettura e ogni giorno si può andare in un posto diverso e tutti bellissimi. Così è stato. Siamo andati in posti a soli dieci minuti dall'albergo, ma anche mezz'ora o un'ora, attraversando paesaggi naturali, senza traffico né resse. Sulla spiaggia eravamo praticamente soli, però va detto che erano i primi di Luglio. Io, che non amo stare in spiaggia, vagabondavo nei dintorni e mai ne scorderò " l'azzurro, il verde e l'ocra. I clivi digradanti sul mare d'incomparabile mitezza. E i panorami scoscesi eppure fioriti ed odorosi di cespi e aromi forti e inaspettati" come dice una poetessa. Una volta mentre facevo la doccia sotto una palma da banana circondata da canne ho sentito degli schiamazzi; pensando che fosse qualcuno che aspettava il suo turno mi sono affrettato e uscendo ho visto che erano .... oche, non nel senso di ragazze stupide e rumorose, ma vere bellissime bianche oche! Prima di partire abbiamo avuto il tempo di visitare ad Argostoli il monumento funebre dei martiri della seconda guerra mondiale. E' stato un momento che ha aggiunto una sfumatura triste alla immancabile malinconia di quando si lascia un posto in cui si è stati bene.

Superb!
We had a very comfortable stay at the Apollonion resort and Spa Hotel. Both breakfast and dinner we of a high standard and staff were most helpful and friendly. A very nice pool and a 5 minute walk to Xi beach added to our enjoyment. A special mention for Mr. George (operations manager) , Viorel (Pergola bar) and Theodora (reception and Art Gallery), customer service perfection. Thank you very much for a very nice holiday.

Great hotel, returned for a second year.
Lovely hotel and fabulous island. Something here for everyone. Hotel very comfortable, very clean and everyone very helpful. Did not use the spa this visit. Outdoor cinema is great and worth the experience in the evening, hotel provide blanket if required if you feeling a little chilly. Pool great never had a problem finding a relaxer chair though some people felt they had to reserve their spot before breakfast with a towel on the chair. Food was great and varied throughout stay. Well run restaurant. Very good choice of food at pool bar if you require lunch. On site art gallery worth a visit. The island of kefalonia is beautiful and was well worth a return visit.

Better than expected!
Arrived to be told we were being upgraded to a suite for free! Thanks very much! Room was superb and despite my sceptical outlook on half boards / all inclusives generally, it was very good quality with lots of choice for fussy eaters like myself. Staff were friendly and attentive and facilities were sound

Very nice hotel!
This was our first time to Kefalonia so when we were booking, we didn't know about the various regions and places to stay, but we did well in choosing The Apollonion. The hotel is new, the rooms are very nice and the food and staff are very good. The staff are professional, courteous and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast is outstanding and the dinners were also very good. Lots of choice...some items were staples on the dinner menu (like the greek salad etc) but the main dinner choices were different each evening. No complaints at all about this hotel except for the gym, which was a big disappointment and not the quality you'd expect from a 5 star hotel. We ended up jogging in the morning around the local area instead of using the gym. We had a rental car so we were able to drive to different beaches each day. I would highly recommend renting a car because otherwise you are kind of stuck at the hotel when there are plenty of lovely villages and beaches to explore. Xi Beach is a 2 minute walk from the hotel but we only went there once. The beach is red sand and very shallow...many more better beaches locally to go to. We are seasoned travelers and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Vacanza di relax
Abbiamo soggiornato nell'Hotel nelle settimane centrali di agosto. La camera standard doppia è grande e ben dotata di servizi. All'accoglienza un cesto di frutta, acqua e una bottiglia di vino. Il personale è estremamente gentile e professionale. Sono presenti due piscine, di cui una per bambini piccoli (noi l'abbiamo usata moltissimo avendo un bambino di due anni e mezzo). L'ultimo giorno ci hanno fornito gratuitamente una stanza di cortesia (integralmente accessoriata e compresi i teli mare) perché avevamo l'aereo alle 22.Due sole note negative: internet molto instabile e spesso assente nelle stanze, stanze in serata molto rumorose a causa del piano bar. Consiglierei comunque l'Hotel ad adulti o famiglie con figli grandi, perché ho trovato l'ambiente in generale non molto adatto ai bambini piccoli.

Comfort e relax a 5 minuti dalla spiaggia di Xi
Abbiamo prenotato una camera deluxe vista mare e siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti! Fin dal nostro arrivo, siamo stati trattati egregiamente. Cocktail di benvenuto e un addetto su macchina elettrica ci hanno accompagnato alla nostra camera, molto bella e spaziosa, con dotazioni deluxe (accappatoi, ciabatte da camera, set cucito) e pulitissima. L'hotel, con personale gentile, preparato e disponibile, è a cinque minuti a piedi da una delle spiagge più tipiche dell'isola, quella di sabbia rossa e fine di Xi. Consigliamo questa spiaggia anche a chi non ama nuotare con fondali profondi e alle coppie con bambini. Il fondale dolcemente digradante e la sabbia fine vi piaceranno. Davanti all'hotel c'è la fermata dell'autobus per Lixouri ( tragitto in 10 min circa) e da Lixouri un ferry boat vi porterà (in 15 minuti e a 2,5 euro a testa) ad Argostoli. Il costo della tratta hotel (Xi) e Lixouri è di 8 euro. Avevamo la mezza pensione (colazione e cena), il cibo era molto buono, soprattutto la carne e i dessert, di qualità sopra la media. Bella e con molti lettini la zona piscina.

Hôtel très agréable pour des vacances balnéaires en famille, les chambres sont assez grande avec une belle terrasse, la demi-pension était très bien à l'exception de la soirée BBQ qui n'avait rien d'exceptionnel. Nous y avons séjourné 11 nuits avec notre fille de 3 ans qui a adoré la piscine, petit bémol la piscine ferait à 18-18.30 ce qui était dommage pour un mois d'août. L'emplacement de l'hôtel est près de la plage mais une voiture est quasi nécessaire car il n'y a rien autour de l'hôtel pour sortir boire un verre ou faire des achats.

Destinazione fantastica albergo discreto
Cefalonia è un isola incantevole , ideale per chi ama la natura , il mare bello ed un pizzico di avventura. é da premettere che è assolutamente indispensabile noleggiare un auto. Appollonia Resort non può essere considerato come albergo 5 stelle. La struttura è nuova e moderna. La mia prenotazione era per una camera deluxe vista mare, in realtà il mare si intravedeva da lontano dato che l’albergo dista 400 mt dal mare ed non ha una spiaggia privata. Abbiamo apprezzato invece vino e frutta al nostro arrivo in camera. La pulizia della camera e delle parti comuni molto efficiente. Il personale educato e gentile . Anche per quanto riguarda il cibo non ci siamo trovati molto bene. Ci aspettavamo di mangiare tanto pesce ed un buffet molto più ampio .. in realtà nella settimana in cui abbiamo soggiornato abbiamo mangiato solo agnello e pollo e le solite insalate. Tutte le bevande compresa l'acqua erano a pagamento.Ottima la colazione. Anche per quanto riguarda i servizi per i bambini erano veramente limitati. Conclusione, a nostro parere la struttura è quasi un 4 stelle.
