Unique, Cozy and Secluded - Not Your Typical Beach Rental
This amazing beach house has tiled floors throughout, unique furniture and decorations, open floor plan, pleasing color schemes, the style is reminiscent of an old island home. None of the typical condominium-style beach decor in this charmer.
The 3rd bedroom/bath has a separate entrance.
There are 2 private beach access for Surfside Shores residents and guests that are both a short walk.
Neighborhood description
The cottage is located in Surfside Shores subdivision, 14 miles out Ft. Morgan peninsula.
Fort Morgan is a well-kept secret with its beautiful white sand beaches without the crowds where you can enjoy the sunrises and sunsets from almost anywhere. Surrounded by nature in Fort Morgan you may see great blue herrings, turtles, dolphins and much other wildlife - truly a unique coastal area. Fort Morgan is known for its historic Civil War-era fort, a 6,000-acre wildlife refuge, and the Dauphin Island Ferry to the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. You can also enjoy bird-watching, charter fishing, golfing at world-class courses (Kiva Dunes next to Surfside Shores), offshore fishing, kayaking, biking, exploring the fort, shelling, ocean swimming, or simply relaxing enjoying this secluded paradise. Close by are several great restaurants offering fresh seafood, burgers, pizza, along with a store that has beach items, food, and necessities. If you feel like more entertainment Gulf Shores is just a 15-20-minute drive away. The Orange Beach Wharf/Restaurants/Shopping and Foley’s new OWA attraction and outlet mall are 30 minutes away.

The house sits about 500 yards from the beach (as the crow fly.) 3 block walk. There are 2 private beach access for Surfside Shores residents and guests that are both a short walk. Golf carts available for rent for those who choose that option. I am happy to provideinformation on rental companies in the area.

Deceiving listing/bad odor/outdated
Our first impression walking in to the house was the horrible and strong stench of mold/mildew. It was worse in the downstairs room. The house is not secluded but rather overgrown. You can see neighbors on all sides. Much of the house needs updating and it had an active water leak. The best part of the house was that it had what seemed to be a good AC unit that kept the house plenty cool. I was very disappointed as I felt like this location costs us more than our usual places we stay in Florida. I don’t think we will stay in this area ever again.

Awesome family beach house

Comfortable!!!
We had a fabulous time at this beach house! The beds were comfortable, kitchen well stocked, and the neighborhood was quiet. Short walk to the beach and we loved the private setting of the house. We used the back porch every day! I would recommend this place and would stay here again.

Wonderful place to stay!
We loved our stay at this wonderful house. We loved the private feel with the trees all around the house. No problems at all, and the host was always quick to answer any questions we had. We will definitely be making a return trip to this wonderful house!

Perfect Beach Cottage Getaway!
Driftwood Cottage was exactly what we were looking for with privacy and close proximity to the beach. Pictures of the house were very accurate of the home furnishings and condition. The cottage was very clean, accommodating and home-y We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to return. Communication with Stephanie was excellent!
