"Five-star price, nowhere near five-star standard
The hotel has a good location and the reception staff were friendly, but the room showed significant signs of superficial cleaning â not what youâd expect at this level.
A day before checkin an email advised that the pool was closed for maintenance leaving it too late to rebook should this have been a strong decision maker. Thatâs just cheeky.
The bed was another issue: the bed linen was too short for the bed, meaning the whole thing comes undone the moment you move. The mattress also has significant pilling, clearly felt through the sheets. The mattress canât have been changed for years as it has sagged and no longer returns to its original shape, suggesting it is well past its replacement date noticeably affecting sleep comfort.
I asked to se a duty manager to highlight the poor cleaning (toilet having visible reminders of previous guests - argh!) but was told no one was available. My som was not to complain but to get it rectified and leave some helpful points.
Therefore I sent an email with photos to reception (and mentioned it in person on my way out) to be passed on to the housekeeping supervisor and received zero follow-up. No message, no call, no reply nothing. At a five-star property, that says something about the feedback culture.
A shame, because with more attention to detail this could be a genuinely good stay. Yes the interior is dated but that in my mind is no bother.
