“The hotel was probably very nice 100 years ago. It is still charming but in need of A total renovation. The hotel is old, worn and neglected, but unfortunately the rooms are also dirty. Cobwebs and dust. Torn sheets and flies in the bathroom. It smells more or less everywhere. Unfortunately there is a lot of seagulls that pooped down the windows and they have nests outside. “I LOVED this hotel. I’m a world touring cyclist and I love quiet and remote. This hotel was FANTASTIC. Idyllic setting high above the bay. Beautiful grounds. Lovely gardens. Stunning. The hotel just had a makeover and it looks beautiful! My room overlooked the sea—clean and comfortable and a great bathtub! Breakfast was plentiful and high quality. A dreamy stop as I pedal the UK. “I thought this was a fabulous, up market hotel. The rooms were fabulous, the pool gorgeous in fact everything was great. The only thing that spoiled my stay was the breakfast. The breakfast menu was extensive, but only for cooked breakfast. I don't eat cooked breakfast. I asked for cereal and toast. I was given a small box of corn flakes (no choice) 2 slices of toast and a mini jar of marmalade for us both. My partner had a cooked breakfast and therefore no cereal. “We were in room 302 which has a sea view and was very clean and well presented. My only comment on the room is it was very warm, it felt like the heating was on, even though the outside weather was 20 degrees and overcast. I was also a bit surprised at the additional £50 I was asked to pay on check in (????), although this is refunded when you check out. “Its a no frills stay, manager was polite & friendly & was only a phone call away day or night.. the conversion was done very poorly or cheaply and it shows. The furniture & decor was nice & it was clean. If you just want somewhere to sleep shower have a few hours out of the sun its ideal if you expect everything to be pristine, crisp, new then this isnt for you... i spoke with a couple of the permanent residents there just people and like us all some have bad days, its their home i encountered...
