Reasonable but overpriced and communal shower not
Stayed in room above pub. Room was ok, nice bedding, towels etc. The communal bathroom could do with some improvement. A shower extension in the bath that you have to hold which is a trickle of water and nothing if you stand up - making it impossible to wash your hair . Skirting and flooring not the cleanest in rest of bathroom too. Good breakfast included which isn’t mentioned on the description

Fantastic stay - highly recommded!
Beautiful location for a very peaceful stay. Stunning room which was very-well thought-out and spotlessly clean. Very friendly and attentive staff. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. For breakfast I can recommend the porridge with warm maple syrup!

Cottage with a family friendly appeal. Family owned and warm staff. Close proximity to the Pooh village and Pooh bridge. The swimmer that beat the world’s most decorated swimmer Michael Phelps is on the staff. So this property has character. American Express Cards are don’t work here, so carry Visa or Masrtercard and Cash

Wonderful staff, friendly and welcoming and always ready and happy to help in any way they could. Lovely room in the Old School House with beautiful views across the meadow to the cricket pitch. Idyllic place to stay

A gorgeous country pub with beautiful accommodation. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the location was excellent for relaxing country walks. A fantastic break away for a couple of days.

When we arrived there was no clear indication of reception so went to the bar, the young lad asked “what do you want!” Decided to have a meal on arrival but after waiting for more than 30 mins where nothing appeared, decided to cancel! Despite asking for an update and not receiving ANY information. Staff on day 1 less than adequate. Staff on day 3 and 4 much better. No indication that the room would not be serviced until I enquired. Not impressed at all

Superb rural getaway
Secluded cottage behind the Dorset Arms, in the grounds of the Buckhurst Park estate. Large, tastefully-decorated rooms, peace and quiet, and sweeping views. Food excellent. Parking also very easy and convenient. Plenty of good walking routes in the Ashdown Forest a short drive away.

We booked two twin rooms which were situated right above the actual pub (which we were not aware of). We have two young kids who could not rest and we all had a terrible nights sleep. It was extremely loud and noisy and the set up was not family friendly at all. The water flush in the toilet of the shared bathroom was not functioning properly. The staff room was next to our rooms so we heard a lot of service personnel walking along the hallway and getting stuff from that room. We had to request to be moved to other rooms which were a lot more expensive. We were not offered a discount and were still charged for the first night. Very disappointed about this. The rooms generally looked very clean but we found marks on the linen and the bath robes. The staff were friendly. If you book I would definitely recommend to ask whether the rooms you are considering are in the Cottage or above the Pub.

A little gem in beautiful countryside.
A very comfortable room in a charming cottage of 6 rooms with shared communal access. The cottage is in a peaceful setting with stunning views of the Buckhurst estate in which it sits. The land is accessible for walking from the cottage and the pub offers good food. Staff are very friendly and helpful. A good breakfast is provided and included in the price.

A comfortable stay for an overnight
Lovely welcome from the owners and a delightful hotel. We had a family room which consisted of 4 single beds. We were expecting a double and 2 singles for the children but it wasn't an issue. Nice bathroom although no separate shower and weirdly no soap, so we used shower gel! We had the room above the pub and it was a bit noisy til late, as expected. If you need a very quiet room for little ones to sleep early evening it's not really suitable. Beds were comfy and room spacious enough. Breakfast was very tasty, good choice, everyone happy. Easy and convenient parking.

I could not fault this gem of a place.It was lovely and clean ,the room was decorated very tastefully,the food in the hotel was of a very high standard.So all in all I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Rural retreat
Accommodation is in 6 room old schoolhouse to rear of historic pub in lovely rural location. Completely modernised with communal seating area with books/magazines. Standard double room was very spacious. Excellent bed/furnishings. Kettle and Nespesso machine. TV (limited channels), plentiful storage and surface space. VG bathroom with powerful shower. Very Good restaurant. Cooked breakfast excellent but cold selection limited to juices and cereals.

Staff all very friendly, helpful and efficient. Food good, room good but could do with shower being fitted on wall above bath and a mirror close to the dresser plus bath towels a bit small. Other than that, excellent, even our Cockapoo Sammy was made most welcome.

Prachtig gelegen aan b-weg. Ruime kamer met heerlijke bedden en typisch engelse florale inrichting. Zeer goed restaurant dat druk bezet is in het weekeinde. Ook gezellige pub met leuk publiek. Goed aan te rijden vanaf Gatwick.Wij hebben Sissinghurts bezocht en kleine dorpjes/stadje in de buurt. Aan te bevelen.

A wonderful traditional hotel built in the 1500s but updated to modern standards. Our room was above the pub so we could hear voices until 11:00 PM when they closed and after 8:00 AM when the restaurant opened, but we were awake at those times any way. Private bathroom across the hallway was as good as en suite. Staff was fantastic, parking available both in front of the building and in an overflow lot behind. Amazing food, wifi, outdoor garden for a late afternoon sit and drink, lovely rural location close to other places. Highly recommend!

Excellent cycling stop
Henry and the staff looked after us beautifully, and after a 50km cycle from Eastbourne up the National Cycle Route 21, the Dorset Arms was a wonderful place to put our feet up in front of a roaring log fire. The food was delicious too, both dinner and breakfast.
