Cozy Cabin in the Hills

  • Sunset Trails Cabin was updated for the 2022 season and under new management. The cabin has 3 bedrooms with queen beds on a split level (the loft is no longer in use). One bedroom leads to a large deck with a beautiful view. It has two 3/4 bathrooms, full kitchen, gas fireplace, deck with gas grill, and a washer and dryer. Sunset Trails is located 5 minutes from Hill City on roughly 1.5 miles of gravel road (guests on motorcycles please take note of the gravel road). Its walking distance from the Mickelson Trail and about 20 minutes from Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. For those of you that like to stay connected you do have cell service here and we just added Wi-Fi!! Cell service is spotty in some areas so please pull up the map and directions before heading to the house. This home is in a neighborhood so those of you that bring ATV/UTVs please be considerate of the road and the neighbors.

The cabin was exactly as described and was perfect for our stay. Great location! It was so clean and was stocked with everything we needed! There was even a welcome balloon, candy, and fresh meat and eggs waiting for us! Communication was excellent with the owners and I cannot say enough good things about our stay. We had a wonderful time and we hope we can come again sometime!

The cabin was the perfect size for our family of 5. It was very clean, beds were comfortable, and the cabin included everything we needed plus extra amenities (coffee, paper plates/utensils, board games, etc.)! We loved the outdoor deck and location of the cabin-not too close, yet not too far from town. The hosts were kind, friendly, and helpful to make everything easy! We highly recommend and will plan to stay again in the future.

Wonderful stay in the woods

My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. It was clean, quiet and private while still being close to most of the great attractions in the area.

The property was fabulous. Clean, well appointed and stocked (they even provided some ground filet mignon and farm fresh eggs). So nice when traveling, that you wind up staying at a place where hospitality must be important to the owners. Fresh ground coffee, nice towels in the bathroom, laundry pods provided with newer washer and dryer, all the travel/hiking guides for the area, etc. The property was beautiful and just remote enough. Great base camp for exploring the Black Hills, Badlands, Custer State Park and Wind Cave. Would definitely stay again if out in the area.

Everything was exactly as advertised. Hosts were extremely helpful and definitely went above and beyond when we had some vehicle issues. Location is great for any kind of trails you’re looking for, can hop right on the trails from the cabin and go any direction. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return if we come back to the area!

Great Fun in the Black Hills!

Thank you so much, we had a great time staying at your Cabin! We truly enjoyed our stay. The place was very clean and loved the inside of the cabin, was very enjoyable. We seen some wildlife and enjoyed sitting out by the fire. It was one of the best I have stayed at. Would stay again.

Peaceful getaway!

Loved the location, far enough out of Hill City for some privacy but close drive back to town and also the trails! House was perfect for us and the hosts were very responsive! Will definitely stay again.
