The Blue Heron Getaway-Claytor Lake i Appalachian Mountains of Virginia

Blue Heron Getaway ligger vid stranden av Claytor Lake i de vackra bergen i sydvästra Virginia. Sjön är populär för många vattensporter, inklusive båtliv, jetskidåkning, paddling, kajakpaddling, paddla boarding och fiske. The Blue Heron Getaway är hem för Triple H Hens. Farm färsk ägg finns dagligen. Gå med i oss när vi samlar ägg och hjälper till att foder tjejerna.

Vi ligger 30 minuter från Radford University, 45 minuter från Virginia Tech, 30 minuter från Claytor Lake State Park och 10 minuter från Boy Scout Camp Powhatan.

På plats bekvämligheter: Luftkonditionering, uteservering, grill, altan, uteplats, båt ramp, sola däck, fiskedäck och uteplats. Kajaker, paddleboard och paddla båt finns på plats för gästanvändning.
Ägarna bor på plats och är vanligtvis tillgängliga för att hjälpa till med alla behov. Din integritet kommer att respekteras. Besökare har tillgång till gården. Entré till bakgården är endast på inbjudan, eftersom hundar och kycklingar är på fastigheten.

Sväng höger in på Old Hurst Road.
När Old Hurst Road slutar, sväng vänster in på Blackberry Lane.
Blue Heron Lodge är en blå två våning till vänster längs sjön.

Vid resa I 81 N, ta avfart 94A, sväng vänster in på Route 100 och fortsätt enligt ovanstående.


En bil är nödvändig för att njuta av områdets attraktioner. För snabb resa använder jag 81. För vinterresor kan en 4-hjulsdrift vara nödvändig för att komma åt fastigheten vid ökad väderlek.

Närmaste stad är Pulaski. Livsmedel kan köpas på den lokala Food Lion. Det finns också snabbmat restauranger (Wendys, McDonalds och tunnelbana) Också en mexikansk restaurang Compadres och en japansk restaurang Kimonos.
Shop Eez på Lowmans Ferry Road strax innan korsningen över bron har ett begränsat utbud av mat, fiskemöjligheter och gas tillgänglig.

Excellent experience. The description of the property was accurate. The hosts were friendly and very responsive and respectful. Loved the lakefront property with a covered boat dock, perfect for a little fishing. Nice surprise to find the porch swing on the dock, wonderful place to enjoy the view of the lake, watching the sunset. We were tickled to find a vacation place, reasonably priced that was pet friendly. The steamy hot tub made our 30th Anniversary extra special.
Sunrise was awesome.
King size bed with choice of pillow thicknesses. The blankets were extremely soft. The decorations were lake appropriate, loved the pictures of herons.
Private space with full kitchen, dining area, living space, bedroom and bathroom. Swiveling front porch chairs, grill, and hot tub.
Our pooch enjoyed the lake view from the dock. Happy pup.

great location!

tucked away in a super nice and quiet neighborhood right on the lake. the home itself was as pictured and very clean. teresa and herman were very helpful if we had any questions. the private boat ramp was definitely a plus as well. very memorable trip!

Relaxing and Beautiful

Our stay was very relaxing by this beautiful place by the lake. The owners were very friendly and accomodating. Enjoyed our visits with them. The place was super clean, quiet and beautiful. Can't wait to return for another stay. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a great getaway.

Perfect get away

Everything was wonderful for a weekend get away. Quite ,clean and Everything I needed. The hot tub was a perfect match for the morning air. And the owners are really sweet made us feel right at home. I will be going back soon.

Anniversary getaway for Hokie parents

This was not only a great "launching" point for hiking at McAfee Knob and attending a ceremony for our Hokie at Virginia Tech, but it was a lovely spot to launch on the double kayak or merely step into the hot tub or collapse into a chair with a view!

Lake Front Stay

This is a wonderful place to stay. Located on Claytor Lake in a remote and quiet neighborhood. We were there during a meteor shower and were able to view several shooting stars each night. We also enjoyed watching the osprey, bald eagle, and hummingbird during our stay. We will definitely try to stay here again.

Amazing Place!!

This place is amazing!! The description of the property is precise. It was everything we wanted and more. It was so nice to be able to sit on the porch in the evening and have a glass of wine or walk down to the dock to do a little fishing. A big perk was being able to dock the boat. Communication with the owner was great and answered all the questions that I had quickly. It is definitely a place I highly recommend and will go back to.

July getaway

This was just what we were looking for. Quiet, relaxing, and a view of the lake. We took advantage of the fire pit (bring a lighter or matches, we couldn't locate any and purchased a lighter while we were out) and the outside area could use some lighting. When it gets dark it's difficult to see going back to the apt. Went for a late afternoon kayak ride that was just lovely! I think the upper deck and lawn furniture could be cleaned before guests arrive as it had spider webs and bird droppings. Also, the propane ran out on the gas grill before we were done cooking, but we were able to finish it in the oven. If you plan on using the grill, maybe ask if the propane tank has been replaced or how often it was used before your stay. Overall it was a nice stay and we would stay there again.

Fun Getaway Spot

Quiet, clean and comfortable. On-site hosts available for any questions. Waterfront access to Lake Claytor and close proximity to the New River Trail Park system at Hiawasee and Draper (rental bikes available at Draper Mercantile). Gas and charcoal grill available with a nice kitchen (no staples other than salt and pepper) made dinners in quite easy with a little pre-planning as suggested by the hosts, as there are no eating options within 20+ minutes. Plan your getaway!

First stay

We had a fabulous visit! My son graduated from VaTech. We stayed here for peaceful retreat from the busy campus! Close enough to campus (45 min) to make it a good fit. We did a small hike at the New River trail close by and relaxed when we were away from campus.

Roomy and comfortable apartment with beautiful lake views. We were there in November so could not take advantage of swimming or kayaking, but thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub. Loads of peace and tranquility, just what we needed! Thank you

Peaceful Getaway

What a wonderful, peaceful getaway! Our hosts were so friendly and helpful. We spent a couple of days here and wish we had longer. Just sitting on the rockers, looking out at the lake, was just what we needed after the college move! Thank you for having us as we so enjoyed meeting our hosts including Minnie :-)

Visited our daughter at VaTech

The only complaint we have is that we didn't stay longer. The apartment was perfect for my husband and I and our daughter ended up staying with us for the weekend. The primary room bed was so comfortable and it was nice to have the pull out bed in the living room for our daughter. We did enjoy the hot tub and that was very relaxing. The kitchen was well stocked and there is a Kuerig and a drip coffee maker. Bring basket filters for the drip coffee. The roads to get to the unit were so much fun, you really are secluded. At night look up to the sky to see how many stars there are!!! My last thing is that the VIEW is incredible especially from the rocking Adirondack chairs right outside the unit. We WILL be back!

Best 10th Birthday Party Ever!

I think my daughter's exact response to our week-end at the Blue Heron was "EPIC!" We were celebrating her birthday with three of her best friends and couldn't have been happier. Such special childhood memories we will always cherish in every way!

Relaxing getaway

We had a wonderful stay. The apartment was clean and well furnished. The rooms, with their many windows, gave us a view of the lake from the inside. The patio, with its lake view, provided a relaxing spot for morning coffee or afternoon conversation. We enjoyed our hosts and appreciated their kindness. Relaxing, beautiful getaway

We loved staying here- beautiful property with lots to enjoy including swimming in the lake, kayaking, taking walks around the property. There are so many beautiful spots to sit and relax. My husband was able to take advantage of the nearby mountains and go hiking/camping for a night. Herman and Theresa were very hospitable and made sure we had everything we wanted/needed. They also were so kind to show our daughter their chickens and also put up an outdoor movie one night for us. It was a very relaxing, beautiful stay!

Gorgeous Waterfront Lodge

Such a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the serene waterfront views. The apartment/lodge was furnished lovely and clean. Many options to sit and relax outside from the patio to the many decks by the water. A paddle boat that my grandson’s really enjoyed is available to use as well as kayaks and life jackets. Absolutely loved our stay at the Blue Heron!
