âThis a great place to stay that is in the Victorian era mode. I hope the basic decorum and vibe of the place never changes. It is a throw back to another era and all of the pictures from earlier times in Kolkata and the hotel and news clips are very interesting. Yes there maybe some pealing paint (which to me is part of the charm) but there is a touch of class throughout - e.g. white table cloths, real crystal wine glasses, antique furniture. âThe hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of sights and restaurants. It has AC but an old one without instructions, that is difficult to navigate. There was supposed to be warm water but it did not work during our 2,5 days stay. The reception is on the top floor, an extra staircase away from the lift so not really convenient location.
Suggestions for improvement: get rid of the cockroaches, update the room instructions, provide AC instructions, provide a proper amount of sheets...
