We had the IMMENSE privilege of staying in Carolina's property for three months during the summer of 2021 (May-August). We loved everything about our stay.
Here's a brief breakdown of the "bests" of the property:
- Property: the house is gorgeous and VERY comfortable, especially for families with small children. We had twelve people in our group, with 4 adults, 3 teens, 2 tweens, and 3 smaller kids. The property was the perfect mix of being beautifully decorated while also being kid-friendly.
- Location: There are a number of stellar views in the Valley but Carolina's house had our favorite views. Every morning we would wake up mesmerized with the views from our bedrooms. The property is the last in the complex, which means the views of the mountains are unobstructed. Nighttime is just as magical, as the property's remote location allows for daily star shows.
- Local support: For all the beauty of the location and property, it wouldn't have been nearly the experience without the local support. We had the joy of engaging Marlene (property manager/chef extraordinaire) six days a week. As mentioned in other reviews, her cooking is excellent (our kids were blown away daily and each had their favorite "Marlene dish"). In addition to being a great cook, Marlene was an amazing local connection to the village. Together, we explored parts of the Valley, played soccer in the neighboring field, and enjoyed meals together with her family on a regular basis. She was more than hired help. She was a true friend to all of us (ESPECIALLY the kiddos)
In addition, we really appreciated the complex manager and his wife, as well as the local yard crew - each of whom were so kind and generous with their time.
- Owner responsiveness: Carolina is a great owner. She always answered our questions quickly and provided great recommendations. We look forward to working together in the near future.
A few items of which to be aware:
- Hot water is run by gas propane, which you need to purchase on an as-needed basis (we went through a couple of canisters of gas a week = $15.00)
- Internet was acceptable but did cause some hiccups at times (we had a lot of devices between the 12 people). I would recommend getting local data plans if you're there for an extended stay.
- There is a "hot tub" on location, which consists of a small stone tub that takes about 6 hours (+ 1 propane tank) to heat. It was a fun experience but not something we used often.
