  • Welcome to South Barn in Winestead, East Yorkshire, a beautiful barn conversion newly renovated and brand-new to Finest Retreats for 2024. This spacious and welcoming holiday home can accommodate up to 8 adults, with one additional double pull out bed suitable for two children.

    The barn boasts an inviting and luxurious atmosphere, perfect for socialising and relaxing with friends and family. The expansive kitchen is equipped with all the modern amenities you'll need to cook up delicious meals during your stay, including dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, oven and hob, with dining seating for up to 10. An additional utility with washing machine provides extra storage space for those muddy boots at the end of the day!

    The carefully designed interior offers a harmonious blend of comfort and style, ensuring a relaxing stay for all. Two bedrooms are located downstairs, a king size with en-suite shower bath, and an additional king-size room which is located next to the house bathroom. Upstairs there are two further spacious en-suite bedrooms. Bedroom three comprises a zip-link superking-size room with an additional double day bed suitable for two children, with ensuite shower over bath. The fourth bedroom comprises a second versatile superking zip-link room with ensuite shower over bath. Both superking-size rooms can be made up into twins on request at time of booking.

    Nestled in the heart of East Yorkshire, Winestead is a charming village steeped in history and natural beauty and provides an excellent base to visit the surrounding area. The nearby seaside town of Withersea is an excellent day out with the kids or the four-legged members of the family, with the traditional ice cream shops, fish and chips and rockpools to explore.

    South Barn is ideal for family get togethers, unfortunately we are unable to accept any stag/hen parties or large events. For bookings and more information please contact Finest Retreats.

Great property in a great location

This is our 3rd stay at the barns and all have been great with this well equipped property. Nice quiet location with plenty of parking.

Expectations exceeded

Brilliant accommodation for family gatherings and for us was the ideal location. One major benefit for us was having bedrooms with en suites on the ground floor for family members who struggle with mobility.

Well equipped and comfortable stay

There were lots of things provided like enough tea and coffee, washing machine & dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, hand soaps & bodywash & shampoo. There was enough of everything for the full duration of our stay.

Excellent South Barn

Excellent weeks stay at South Barn. Big house for large family gatherings with space for everyone. Well equipped with all you need for cooking etc. warm and comfortable. Would highly recommend. Since it’s such a large house, I do feel a travel cot and high chair would be a good idea.

Great Christmas stay

We had a great stay and found the facility was very comfortable. I would happily stay again but would make a couple of observations. It would have been great if the property had been warmer when we arrived. It did warm up but it would have been nice to not have to find the heating as the very first thing on entry. For a property that caters for so many people, there was a shortage of saucepans. However, overall, we were very happy.

A brilliant place to stay as a large family, close by to lots of local attractions.

Excellent place to stay, the host left us all the essentials we needed and a detailed folder of everything we needed to know. The space felt fresh and clean despite a few old cobwebs when side tables were moved for use etc. Close by to local amenities and also local attractions like the Deep, Hornsea beach and Hull city centre. Overall we had an great time at south barn and would recommend to others. Thanks for having us. There were lots of old cobwebs around so maybe a thorough go through prior to guest arrivals. The oven did not heat up appropriately to cook a roast dinner it took twice as long as it should have which was a bit of a nightmare to be honest. We presume this is given it's age so would recommend it may need replacing soon. Birds have nested in the gable wall in the family bedroom, so would also note you may want to look into this as they kept us up with banging and clattering behind the plasterboard from 4am onwards, hopefully they haven't caused too much damage in there.

Superbly equipped, roomy accommodation.

South Barn was ideal for our family get-together. The house is very spacious - great communal areas - and is set up for large groups so there is ample seating, ample cutlery, crockery, glasses etc., making it perfect for socialising. The house isn't cluttered, wide walkways and big bedrooms, and two bedrooms are on the ground floor so great for people with mobility issues. Beds are comfortable and the bed linen is of a high standard. The giant bath towels are especially nice. In fact, everything about the place feels very good quality, including the furniture and appliances (induction hob is excellent!). There is plenty of parking space too - we had six cars between us and there was more than enough room for all. The large rear yard is securely fenced so safe for children and dogs to play. And this place is very dog friendly - even providing dog towels, bowls etc. The location is great - a tranquil little hamlet with no through traffic so no vehicle noise at all. The kids loved morning walks to local honesty boxes to pick up fresh eggs for breakfast. Everything we needed was within easy driving distance. Nearby villages have decent takeaways and handy convenience stores. Withernsea (lovely little seaside resort) is about 10 minutes away, and Hull is less than half an hour. Peaceful, clean and airy, we loved this place!
