Great location, and relaxing!
We really enjoyed this secluded area of the UP. The space itself is huge, and we were able to bring our dog, which was great. Would highly recommend for anything looking for a getaway with some outdoor activities nearby.

Nice quiet weekend
The section used for VRBO is spacious, clean and well appointed. It is in very good shape and we had no concerns at all. Roger answered a couple of questions i had quickly and to my satisfaction regarding operating dimmer lights.

Serenity
It was so peaceful. There are other houses nearby but we didn't hear anything. The trail around the lake is very nice. The living area is huge! All in all we had a great time.

Lovely
This house has a lovely location; the back is surrounded by woods with french doors that offer a great view. My kids saw a variety of wildlife including deer in the backyard. We flew in for a family event and booked the property for a three night stay. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a hassle-free stay in a lovely location.

Born & raised in Iron Mountain. Home for ski tournaments with friends from IL. Great location close to town. Easy to get around. Clean. Lots of room. Cozy with a view of Fumee Lake. Enjoyed our stay.

LOVE THIS PLACE !!
This was my 3rd time staying at this property. One reviewer described it as a "Mother-in-Law" apartment and that is a great description. It is a fully finished basement with an amazing view. Surprisingly large, very clean, and everything you would need. I stay here when I work in the Iron Mountain area of the U.P. and I book it as often as I can. You will not be disappointed in this property !!

Nice Get Away
Overall the stay was good. The owner of the property was super nice and super helpful. When we booked we thought the house was on the lake but it’s actually about 1/4 mile off the lake. All in all it was perfect for what we needed, a very nice place to stay

The stay was great and Relaxing! The trail path was so convenient for my husband and I to use and it was close to the house! The location was just in the right location for 2hrs drive or so to Copper Harbor, or Lake of The Clouds,. Everything went smooth! Our boys really enjoyed their stay as well!

The home and area are very nice and definitely would stay again!
Beautiful area but not really lake front its a walk through the woods and no fishing or any type of motor vehicle. Didn't see anyone use the lake the while visit but it is super clean and beautiful. The house itself was very nice and clean ni complaints at all. Roger was very nice as well!

Weekend Getaway
The place was perfect for our family to getaway for the weekend. Nice open area with plenty of space for hanging out together. The place was spotless and we met the owner who was very sweet and friendly. We can’t wait to visit again during the summer months.

Beautiful Property
I was a bit skeptical after reading some of the reviews. The description on one reviews of a "Mother-in-Law Suite" is very accurate. The website does give a first impression that the property is on a lake, which it is not, however there is a lake close by with some very nice hiking trails. It is basically a finished walkout lower level with the owners living upstairs, yet it is surprisingly private and surprisingly large. The kitchen area is fully stocked, but no stove, so be aware of that. The living room is very large with Roku, YouTubeTV, NetFlix and Hulu with great Internet. I would suggest the owners add the Amazon Prime Channel to their selection so those of us who have Amazon Prime can watch movies on the rainy days. The bedrooms are nice and comfortable. I very much enjoyed our stay and will be a return customer for sure.

A Work Trip that was everything we needed!
My husband and I decided to utilize our remote working opportunity to travel while we worked. We wanted a place that had a scenic view but also needed to have strong internet. We absolutely got that with this place. Nestled in the forest, the scenery is breathtaking. Everything is within a 5-minute (or so) drive (food, groceries, etc.). The home was extremely clean. While we were initially disappointed due to the lack of stove/oven, we adapted and utilize the hot plate and the toaster oven and they worked great. This may sound silly but the one thing I was actually not happy about was the soap (hand and dish soap). It is clear that it had been watered down - likely to try to preserve the life of it. During this time it is particularly important to have soap. We purchased our own to supplement. LOL - so if the worst thing that can happen is soap?! I'd say it was excellent. Absolutely would stay again. And would ensure that we take more time to go and explore more. The host and the home owner were very friendly/helpful/responsive. Thank you for making our trip so amazing!

I stayed at this property with my children and grandson. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the beautiful hiking trail around the lake. The owner was very welcoming and friendly and the cleanliness of the house was outstanding. The only issue was no stove so you have to use the microwave and grill .

Inaccurate info on listing
Three different areas of this listing clearly said there are three bedrooms. There were only 2. Not good when we needed 3 bedrooms for our family. When we called Roger, the host, upon arrival regarding the situation, he offered a blowup mattress and said it had a pump. We left for evening activities, and when we got back around 10pm and tried to blow up the mattress there as NO pump. Thank goodness we had a pump in our car to use. Also the fact that the house is listed as being in a lake is misleading. If you are expecting to use the lake or even see it from the house...you won’t. This lake is a nature preserve, so houses do not sit right on the lake, there is no beach access. To get to the lake you have to walk through the woods for almost a 1/2 a mile. So as far as the kayaks provided, you’d have to carry the kayaks that distance through the woods to get to the water. The house was clean enough though decor and furnishings are quite outdated. There is no air conditioning, which typically may be fine for the UP of Michigan, but this particular week, it was warm and quite humid. We thought no big deal, we will open a few windows as it cools off during the evening. Nope...most of the windows don’t have screens, and 2 out of 3 large patios doors had signs to not open them. So we had to keep the house closed up and stuffy. Thank goodness we only stayed one night as it would have been quite disappointing to have spent a week long vacation in this home. The owner was quite unwilling to take responsibility for the inaccurate listing.

Unfortunately there was a glitch in the conversion from Homeaway to VRBO that somehow listed this as a 3 bedroom. (this occurred through the website not through the owners) It was never done that way by the owners and it was unknown to them. Previous to this there have only been 5 star reviews so the property was never intentionally misrepresented. Even the summary line stated it was a 2 bedroom.

The owner was extremely nice and the place was beautiful. With our big family it was refreshing to have a place to stay where we could spread out and relax. We had everything we needed and even when the entire town was out of graham crackers for s’mores, the owner found us some. It was quiet, peaceful, and we loved exploring around the lake.

I am 87 y/o my son and daughter in law drove up from fla to take me here to see my 2 sis and 4 brothers as I had not seen them since I lost my husband Jan 13 2018. I also saw many other relatives. My trip was full filled. Thank you. My first stay in rental property. I miss saying goodbye in person . Also no overhead lite on sm bedroom. I am not call on the phone person . From old school don’t like to complain The only thing negative was the steps but Roger told my son it was ok to dr down. All in all a get set up. We are great full. SO QUIET and Peaceful and RELAXING as my son and daughter in law are in medical field and need this very much.

Nice, quiet place
Location is great, near downtown but also in secluded area. Great walking/hiking trail right outside back door. Owner is a wonderful person and does not bother guests at all, but also welcomes company. Excellent place to stay!

Far enough away from town that it's quiet and close enough to get to everything in about 10 minutes. Close enough to see Fumee Lake. Give minutes from Lake Antoine. I'd certainly go back.

Iron Mountain Getaway
The entire time there was incredible. The accommodations were outstanding and the owner, Roger, had us feeling like family. Thank you for your hospitality! We used the Fumee Lake Trail multiple times and Iron Mountain is just minutes away. As a group, we have stayed at different venues, but this one was beyond OUTSTANDING!! We will be back!!! Beautiful facility, everything provided and well maintained
We would definitely stay there again. Lovely area, lots of wildlife, good local restaurants. House is in quiet neighborhood, facility is similar to a mother-in-law suite with two bedrooms, bath, kitchenette, living room and dining room overlooking a lake, which you can see when the leaves are down. Beds very comfortable. Allows small dogs too but have to kept off the furniture.
