The refurbished rooms were nice, clean and warm and the private shower was awesome. We had an awesome time and were lucky to see two kiwi on the grass near the bush even though it was raining, and we heard lots more. It was really magical!”

“Our stay here was just what we needed! Perfect option for our little family (Grandma, 3yo, 5yo and Mum). Kids absolutely loved the playground at the foot of our backdoor (2 bdrm flat). Heaps of room to run around or you could just sit by the river and watch the water. The 2 bdrm flats are slightly older so don't go expecting 5 star quality. It was perfect for us with a great location, handy as we were travelling between family around the area. There's a simple shop on hand for necessities....

“Beach cottage (also called Orowaru cottage) is a gem. We had a great week there. I can particularly recommend sitting on the front verandah watching the tide roll in and out. Deeply peaceful. And well appointed for your every need. We used the cottage as a base to explore the Hokianga and Whangape Harbours. So many marae, so many early churches, friendly locals wherever we went. I came home with a lovely handmade rug from the Kohukohu Village Arts. The little Kohukohu library is another gem.”
