“We loved our stay at Kehena house! We were greeted by Stephen when we arrived and given a quick tour. They were hosting a Pride potluck that day and he kindly invited us to come eat and join in as guests of the house. Everyone we met was friendly and we felt safe to be ourselves. “Great little bungalow tucked away in paradise. Check-in was easy, kitchen supplies were sufficient for the two of us and wifi was more than sufficient. It’s “off the beaten path”, but if you want a touch of tranquil Hawaii, this place will transport you there”

“Sitting listening to the ocean waves is very relaxing. The sun doesn't shine directly on the deck, which I truly enjoyed. I did want the chairs to fully recline. The Lava Flats are close by and worth a visit. The black sand beach has no easy access route that we were able to find. My next trip to the Big Island, I will look for this rental. I did find the key box a little difficult to open and the laundry room instructions takes you to the wrong side of the house.”

“I was so excited about this house when I booked it and it did not disappoint! The landscaping and pool were incredible and 4 bedrooms with big beds was perfect for us. We loved the pool, fruit trees and coquis at night. Only downsides would be, only 2 bathrooms. A third would’ve been nice, especially for the bedroom that was separated from the rest of the house and the location was a bit far from Hilo but both of those things were worth it for how amazing the house was. ”

“Cons: no hot water in the shower or house. At all. Ran ONLY the hot water line & never got hot water. Hubby bathed in kitchen sink with water from tea kettle. No privacy. At all. Other houses can be seen clearly from all windows & shower of this house. That deck? It's for anyone to use & anyone on it can look right down into your shower. A house up the hill can be clearly seen from shower which means they can clearly see you in the shower. We bought 50ft clothesline and 2 shower curtains from...
