A wonderful stately home hotel on the edge of a quiet North Yorkshire village, with lovely staff, great rooms/suites, enchanting public rooms and an excellent breakfast. The restaurant was closed for dinner when we stayed (we knew this when we booked) but we were recommended to try the hotel’s sister establishment, The Bay Horse pub, just a 5 minute walk away in the village, where the food was first class. Both the hotel and the pub are highly recommended.

We loved our stay here and the staff were very helpful and friendly, we wish we could have stayed longer. The facilities were beautiful at such a reasonable price. The surrounding grounds were beautiful. We ate dinner at the pub down the street which was excellent. Would definitely stay here again and have recommended it to others.

Really lovely to look round the gardens and vegetable area. All very organised. The staff were good. Dawn was so helpful. The breakfast good. The room great very comfortable but pillows were too hard for me. Bath lovely. Will hopefully stay again

An exceptional two night stay at a beautiful character hotel. Breakfast was the best and have found it difficult to find any negative issues. We will be returning again for sure, when we are next in the Yorkshire area.

We had an excellent stay. Perfect accommodation. Great location, safe area, within 7 minutes driving distance to Allerton Castle. Managed to find free parking in the area. Our room was very clean and my favorite part was a barhroom. The only bad thing was to book an Uber, we tried twice and never arrived. Highly recommend this place.

Lovely accommodation with a personal touch.
This is such a lovely place. Very personal, certainly when compared with chains. The food was excellent and the communal areas really lovely. The gardens were a nice surprise - we were expecting good landscaping but there was also really very impressive planting as well. We will be back!

We loved everything about this property! We stayed in the cottage, so each of us had a roomy bedroom. After staying in large cities for the previous week, we so welcomed walking on the quiet, peaceful, beautifully manicured trails on the property. The staff was so helpful. They booked the train for us from Leeds to London, which was an excellent experience. We couldn't have been more pleased with this property!!

Two night Stay
Beautiful property with a nice history to the hall. Room and facilities nice, although the bathroom was reasonably small. Tried on a number of occasions to get out heated towel rail fixed but all three attempts to get staff to sort the issue were unsuccessful. The evening tasting menu and service was fantastic. Overall a lovely stay.

Very disappointing room.
Very disappointed with the room. It was absolutely minute and suitable only as a very small single. The bathroom window sill was filthy and clearly had t been dusted for a very long time. In addition there were dead flies in the bathroom. We complained and were moved to a larger room but charged an excess of £100 for the upgrade. Be very careful when booking and I recommend speaking directly to the hotel and make sure they tell you exactly which room you will be staying in.

Exceeded Expectations.
Stayed for two nights bed and breakfast as a little break after our wedding. Could not fault the premises, room, bathroom etc. Breakfast excellent and staff warm and welcoming as were the owners who we bumped into on arrival. Absolute gem.

Pleasurable stay.
Excellent 'taster menu' dinner, and good restaurant service throughout. A bit crowded out in the dining room and public rooms on our last morning by wedding photographers and preparations for the wedding that morning. Bill when presented had 2 extra bar drinks added in error.

Wonderful Break
This is a fantastic place to stay and the staff were wonderful. We also had the taster menu in the restaurant in the evening and I would highly recommend - lots of amazing dishes and flavours. One thing would have been nice, after we had walked around the grounds and the village we went back to the hotel for a warm drink and asked if we could have something to nibble but nothing was available. I think the lovely lady took pity on us and fetched some biscuits.

Beautiful hotel, lovely gardens. Roaring fire in the library. Friendly staff, lovely food. Would go back, only downside was the church bells chiming every hour, a rather hard bed and the TV in the next room was very loud so we struggled to get to sleep and had to get up for work the next day. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Gorgeous venue.

Wonderful stay in "stately" hotel
Amazing hotel/stately stay. My wife and I were looking for a relaxing stay for one night with a nice garden and near to RHS Harlow Carr. What a find. On the outskirts of Knaresborough & only 20 mins from Harrogate, the location was ideal. The property however blew us away. The hotel is basically a converted and renovated stately home & the interior of the property has been lovingly restored by the new owners. The grounds are fantastic and worth staying there just to walk through the woodland walk, through the lime tree avenue (planted by royal visitors) and the rest of the amazing gardens. We were welcomed by Dawn who was very friendly, but also very professional & donned her face shield before escorting us on a tour of the facilities before taking us to our room. The garden room was amazing, with dual aspects across the main and side gardens. There was a large king bed, seating, desk, 50" TV & coffee machine, kettle and fridge. We stayed on a Monday, when the restaurant (serving 6 or 8 course taster menu) was closed, but there is a pub serving food throughout the day and every evening only three or four minutes walk away. A visit to the bar, to be looked after by Dawn again, followed by drinks in the drawing room or library finished the evening off well. This isn't the place for a lively night away, but for a guest who likes a little luxury in a beautiful historic property I cannot make a higher recommendation. I look forward to another visit in the near future.
