Central location but no value for money
The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of sights and restaurants. It has AC but an old one without instructions, that is difficult to navigate. There was supposed to be warm water but it did not work during our 2,5 days stay. The reception is on the top floor, an extra staircase away from the lift so not really convenient location. Suggestions for improvement: get rid of the cockroaches, update the room instructions, provide AC instructions, provide a proper amount of sheets and towels, clean the door handles and bathroom better. We were impressed by the elevator staff.

We had made a booking, but when we arrived, the staff didn't accept that. Said that it was not available. So we had to pay more for our visit there. The bed was not so very good. Location is perfekt. But I don't think I will go there again. Sorry!

Beautiful old colonial buiding
great stay!, this is the second stay at this guesthouse, staff are very very helpful, lovely and clean room, very central location, just off park street, lots of places to eat close by, will stay here again! love it! can`t wait to go back! missing kolkata all ready!!

Really nice
One of the best place to stay when you are in Kolkata markets are near clubs are near even tourist spots are near by and the staffs are really nice and very helpful also even the rooms are clean and perfect I'm very happy with my stay and I wish sunflower guest house the very best for the future ahead.

enough good budget accommodation, perfect location
restaurants are within walking distance. staffs are nice. bathroom is ok, hot water is always available. Wi-Fi available. lift from ground floor to 4th floor. no breakfast. no closets. too many cockroaches.

便利な場所
夜中の2時に到着したらゲートに鍵がかかっていて、中で寝ているスタッフを起こして開けてもらいました。場所もわかりやすく、チェックインもスムーズです。Reviewで窓が壊れていて閉まらない、Wi-Fiが使えないと読んでいたので、窓は持参した紐やテープで止めて使い、携帯のデータを使えるようにしました。でも後で聞いてみたらWi-Fiも使えました。ただ、パスポート番号の登録が必要です。問題はゴキブリの多さで、テーブルやベッドの上にも上がってきました。枕の下や毛布の上、人がいても逃げません。殺虫剤を持って寝ました。

Not in the quietest of areas (but where is in Kolkata) Friendly staff , room spotless, bedding well past its best but clean, All I could wish for in a budget hotel.

Good but a little expensive
This hotel was perfectly manageable and in a great area. My only complaint is that for the price (2000rps a night), I normally expect a bit more in India (e.g a sheet to sleep under, a restaurant, nicer service at check-in). However, this may be because this is what you have to pay for a basic hotel in a nice location in Kolkata.

Pretty Central for sites
the hotel is secure and convenient. WiFi available in a lounge area. Staff friendly enough but a little careless. The room was airless, windows padlocked so never opened. Bed back achingly hard. Most difficult detail was that the sheets and towels are so very old and grey..and so incredibly depressing. The room was clean, but so depressingly decorated. Everything was brown.

Quirky as hell, but good place to stay
This hotel is in an old colonial era building and some floors contain residents, other floors hotel rooms. There is an ancient lift (only to floor 3) with a very helpful lift operator. Reception is on the 4th floor, reception area on the 3rd floor - a little weird and hard to find. There's a nice enough rooftop garden. Location is fantastic - few hundred meters away from happening Park St, and maybe 500m away from the 'New Market' area shops and Chowringhee/Sudder st etc. It's tedious trying to get back into the hotel late - gates and room areas are locked up, no one to be found anywhere, and the floors are not marked so it was impossible to find our rooms, which are in locked corridors, Half the time I was worried about knocking on some resident's door. Correspondence with the hotel is a poor experience - I enquired about an extra bed in one room, got no response and had to end up booking an extra room in another hotel. When we got there we found extra guests in rooms were possible (Expedia had.only options for 2 per room). One bad experience - my son who was staying with his grandmother nearby visited, and stayed quite late watching tv. The next day there was an unpleasant confrontation with management who demanded extra money. We'd booked 5 rooms for 2 nights. Pretty lame! I'd still stay there though, there's something quite cool about this place. Showers were tepid/luke warm if I recall. No toilet paper supplied. No tea/coffee. Wifi in common room only, and poor.

sunflower guesthouse for two weeks
During a two week stay, my hot water heater in the room broke (which they repaired), and the light circuit in the room shorted out (which they also repaired promptly). The room was not well cleaned, but was overall peaceful considering it was in Kolkata. The hotel is just really old and stuff needs to be fixed often. The elevator man was a very nice touch.

Ageing hotel that has seen better times
We booked a double room with Expedia and then requested by e-mail a single room or extra bed for the following days for our goddaughter who decided to travel with us at the last minute. This was all confirmed by the hotel in writing. On the first night, the floor in our double room cracked alarmingly when we walked on it, and when we got out of bed the following morning the tiles came up all together. It was an improvised job of tiles on hardboard. Our goddaughter arrived late (midnight) as her plane from London was delayed and she was not let into the hotel by the night porter (despite our instructions that she would arrive late), so she spent a cold night on the steps outside. The money-grabbing hotel staff wanted full payment for our nights' lodging with the poor floor, and our goddaughter's single room which she could not use until 6am! When we informed the hotel manager what had happened, he apologised, but did not seem to have control over the daily running of the place. Other travellers beware!

Good for hot water and comfortable bed
Basic hotel but you get hat you pay for. Advise checking the room beforehand as I originally got a dark room with no windows. Also you have to pay 50 rupees each day for the wifi which is only in a social area... Bit annoying. Otherwise hot water and a comfortable bed in a great location. Roof garden is also a nice place to read a book

the sunflower guest house
loved this budget hotel,staff are very friendly and room was very clean,also felt safe which is important for women travelling on their own. there was a lovely roof garden to sit and chat to other guest and it`s just round the corner from park street,the main tourist area.

Overall good experience.You can stay here.
Overall good stay . I was little worried when i enter the building. There was no reception in front and there is old lift ( maually operated) which takes you to 5th Floor from there u need to walk with stair case to reach to reception. the person has details about mybooking but wanted to see my email to confirm. he took 15 minutes to allocate me a room in 1st floor. This room was standard room, quite small room swith very narrow bathroom. but cleaness and other things didnt disopointed me. there was no switches near to bed to switch off the lights..:) however, the clearness of guest house quite okay to the price I paid. 1) No food available in hotel. however, once you walk out of hotel , there are planty of food joints to eat. 2) No wifi, wifi is available on paid basis and available only from 10 AM to 8.PM ( i didnt bother to try to buy ) overall good guest house to stay without any frill service.

コルカタ、サダル周辺でWi-Fiが無料で、使用できて、シングルの部屋で検索して、予約しました。 ところが、Wi-Fiは無料ではなく、2時間で30ルピーと言われました。 しかも、使用場所は共用ルームのみです。 Wi-Fiを最優先して予約したので、騙された感じがしました。 ですので、ホテル設備欄に偽りあり、です。 部屋は普通です。それ以上でもそれ以下でもないです
