The city has all it's traffic running 'underneath' the city itself and the hotel can be a bit hard to locate.

âWe have stayed at this hotel several times in the past but were very disappointed with our latest visit. There was nobody at reception therefore we had no idea where to get keys etc. We eventually phoned someone and was told our room number and the key is in the door! Only one towel and no one to ask for another until we were leaving. The shower head had not been cleaned for ages and therefore water spraying from all angles. TV turned on during the night a couple of times and woke us up! ...

âExcellent location and hotel parking , room very clean and nice decor, very comfortable bed and nice hot water in the bathroom.Instructions on getting room were not clear by email. No key in the key box as it was described. We had to get key from restaurant staff in the hotel. We also couldnât watch any TV as there was no remote in the room . âThe atmosphere at B&B Hippo-Droom was really a classic "home-a-way-from-home", which made our last days in Belgium a perfect finish after three years in Waterloo/Belgium.
We can recommend B&B Hippo-Droom as the first or last "home" if you are moving to or from Belgium, or if you are just visiting Belgium for anyother reason and need a place to call home for some nights.
The closeness to R0 (motorway) makes Hippo-Droom very accesible.â

"I do a lot of business travel and this is the worst hotel in years. As a business traveller I expect to have good alternatives to iron my shirts. They only had two irons at the hotel and only lend them out for a âŹ10 deposit. The first of the irons was leaking water and I had to ask to have the other. That's when they told me they only have two. (The second iron thankfully was fine!) What was even worse was that the ironing board was a miniature version for tables and in my room there was no table. The legs on the ironing board were perhaps 4 inches (10cm) when extended which made it sink into my bed when I tried to iron in my room. To my great embarrassment I had to go down to the lobby area to do iron my shirts while other guests passed by. I can't recommend this hotel to any other business traveler.
The breakfast was very simple kind of Mediterranean with a few additions. My overall review - for budget travellers it is perhaps ok but not for business travellers. If you are a business traveler then you should select another hotel."
