Nice stay
Overall, the stay was great! The house was big and the host provided a lot of extra niceties. The only problem we had was inconsistent internet and wifi, but that is to be expected with a rural property. We also found the front door difficult to lock, although as Americans, we may have just not understood how the lock worked.

The property was very nice and the house was in good shape once we got there. Getting there was a little difficult as the area is very remote but we made it. The location is very close to the entrance to the Isle of Skye making it ideal.

Days in the lovely Scottish Highlands
Bunloyne is simply lovely! Nestled in the mountains with its views of Loch Long, we could not have envisioned a more perfect spot to gather with friends to savor the peace and beauty of the Scottish Highlands. The spaciousness and comfort of the house coupled with a spectacular view from each window was wonderful and prompted us to appreciate what was nearby without the need to travel far. Our hikes from the house were our favorites with their amazing views, sheep, and highland cattle. We loved hearing the stories of those who lived nearby and, meeting their well-trained and beloved dogs! Hiking on the nearby Isle of Skye and hearing the music of Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain during an evening in Portree was delightful. And on our visits to Plockton, we imagined an encounter with Hamish Macbeth. We frequently Manuelas' Wee Bakery and enjoyed the laughter and warmth of a Durney pub. Thank you, Gerard for sharing your lovely home. And to the many gracious folks who call the Scottish High lands their home, be well. We'll hope to visit once again.

Relaxing days at Loch Long
We had a lovely stay at Geds hosue Bunloyne. Contact with Ged was always very good and we always got quick responses. We have been a group of 11 persons and the house suited as well. Enogh space and equipment for all of us. We can strongly recommend the house and Ged as a host.

Wonderful family trip
Our family spent three weeks at Bunloyne in July and August. The house is beautifully designed, spacious, well-appointed, and in an extraordinary location. Looking over Loch Long was a special treat, no matter the weather. Ged was a perfect host. He responded to questions quickly and helpfully, and he gave us great advice about local restaurants. Family of 9 loved our stay!
We are a family of 9 ( 3 children ages 2, 7, 14)and 6 adults. This beautiful home fit our needs perfectly! The kitchen was generously stocked with plates, glasses, cutlery, pots and pans to accommodate our cooking. We noted how clean, new and luxurious our bed linens were in the house, and we all slept well in our bedrooms. The view from the house of Loch Long is outstanding and we would definitely visit again! Our stay was exceptional, and enjoyed by all in our family group!

Beautiful views but a little remote
We had a wonderful stay with family and friends and got to experience the Lochcarron Highland Games. This place was spacious and we had room to spread out and enjoy magnificent views. It was pretty remote so be prepared for a ten to fifteen drive to any pub or market. There were some plumbing issues but as there were six bathrooms, we were fine. It was well stocked with anything you could need and we appreciated getting to cook meals at home rather that eating out constantly. The small washer and dryer were helpful but if you’re from the states, be ready for each load to take 4-6 hours from start to finish. Would definitely recommend this for large groups who need a getaway from the city.

Magnifique location au calme!
La maison est magnifique, très grandes chambres spacieuses, il y a vraiment tout ce qu'il faut, la cuisine est très très bien équipée. L'endroit est somptueux, au calme, les biches viennent vous rendre visite le soir et/ou au petit matin... A recommander absolument !

Wundervoller Urlaub in den sonnigen Highlands
Wir sind als Großfamilie vereist. Dafür war das Haus bestens geeignet. Denn alle Schlafzimmer verfügten über ein eigenes Bad mit Dusche/Badewanne. Es gab genügend Platz. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die große und sehr gut eingerichtete Küche. Hier gab es genügend Geschirr und Besteck für alle, was gerade für eine größere Gruppe wie die unsrige (7 Personen) nicht selbstverständlich ist. Ein besonderes Highlight ist die absolut fantastische Lage, hoch über dem Loch Long, umrahmt von Bergen. Wir sind schon viel gereist, kennen viele Ferienhäuser. Aber dieses Haus ist etwas Besonderes. Wir würden jederzeit wieder dorthin fahren. Absolute Empfehlung!

Magical location
Three generations - nine people. Plenty of space. Large rooms. Many amenities. Spectacular views. Private, but not isolated. Saw a double rainbow that had us oohing and ahhing with delight. Visited Kyleakin, Portree, Uig on Skye and back to Kyle of Lochalsh, Inverness, Plockton, Dornie. Dined out, and loved coming back to Bunloyne for the night. All in all a memorable, delightful experience for my 80th birthday!

Ruined by a terrible host.
My review is not on the quality of the stay (which is ok... very dated in parts, complicated appliances, poorly functioning dryer, LONG drive in from town and hard to find with navigation), but rather on the host. We checked out on a Friday and left the place as it was when we checked in. There were no issues with the property, and our communication with the host was minimal (except when he tried to pressure us into allowing a multiple-hour electrical inspection during our stay, which we declined). On Saturday, the host messaged us accusing us of breaking a bed, without providing photos. No beds were broken. Unless he is talking about a bed slat, which several beds had missing ones? The beds were fine during out stay. Considering the place was booked the night we left, assuming if there actually is any damage it was caused by the next guest. We have been traveling since we left, and I don't check my email on the weekends. I arrive home after 24 hours of travel on Monday to find him "politely" letting me know he would be charging me a damage fee of $305. Still no photos. He claimed I had not responded. I responded minutes later asking questions, but no response from him until this evening when he claims to have sent photos to Vrbo (since I raised a dispute with them). Go elsewhere, unless you want to be accused of things you didn't do, billed hundreds of dollars extra, and then not sent any evidence.

Thank you for your review and your version of events. This is only the second time that I have had to retain anything from a guest's damage deposit and on both occasions the guest has at first denied that there was any damage, and then that the damage was done by someone else and finally that there wasn't really very much damage anyway. I found it very difficult dealing with you because at first you didn't respond and then, as you have done here, you claimed that there was no problem when you left. Then when you had seen photos of the damage you claimed that it had been like that when you arrived! If things are damaged during your stay, which often happens, I suggest that you would be better advised to contact the owner explaining what actually happened and enter into an open dialogue about it. Unfortunately in your case I never found out what really happened and none of your changing "explanations" made any sense.

Perfect large house for big group
The house is fantastic. 12 of us (from toddler to grandma) spent 5 days in the house over Easter and it provided all we could wish for. Space for everybody, large rooms, comfortable beds, good books, some games, a pingpong table, well equipped kitchen, large dining table, stunning views, driving distance for day trips to Skye, and more made us feel relaxed and at home. Communication with Ged was very nice and clear. Would strongly recommend!

New Year break at Dornie
This is a fabulous property and we can’t rate it highly enough. Beautifully furnished, lots of space even when all beds are occupied. Very warm and comfortable. Kitchen very well stocked and amazing views - from any window! Can’t wait to go back.

Excellent stay with captivating views
Excellent stay, as an enjoyable experience all round. Amazing views, a fabulous location in the Highlands, a well-appointed house with some beautiful aspects and tasteful furnishing. Very spacious, which is a great benefit for a large group. Only thing lacking was a stove or open fire, which may be for good reason. We generally like the focal point of this, though the house was very warm and clearly well-insulated. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

Beautiful house in a perfect location
Nine of us including three kids and a grandmother loved the property. Beautiful house, well equipped with space (and peace) for everyone. Cooking was a pleasure in the kitchen, everything you need is there. The boot room was very handy and had ample room to keep everyone's kit. Location is stunning, views wherever you are in the house and there are easy walks from the front door. We couldn't have asked for more.

The property is beautifully located and extremely comfortable
Located above the Loch, the house is beautifully positioned for views and with large windows in every direction, you can drink in the scenery as it changes through the day. The bedrooms are all a great size with comfortable beds, with soft bedding , lots of room for clothes and bedding and the bathrooms have fantastic showers. The living space is huge with capacity for 12 people//3 families to find together and alone time. The kitchen and utility room have every necessity and the boot room and drying room are fantastic. Beautiful house, wonderful location
The house and host were great - easy to communicate with, well situated in beautiful environment and well appointed inside. He the Vrbo site was difficult to use and a mix up meant that the code to get the key was incorrect leaving some of our family outside the house for an hour whilst trying to get help.

Ideal remote getaway
The homeowner, his property, and the location of the property were all great. The property is just as described and ideal for an extended family (4 families in our case) where you need more than one reception room. The house is suitably appointed and we had no issues. The only real comment is that TV area's sofa and chairs were past their best. When our four-year-old removed the cushions it was clear that the cleaners had not been diligent enough to consider young kids pulling the cushions off the sofas. Our real gripe was with VRBO. We had been given a code to a key lockbox that was subsequently updated. While we had two further emails with the updated details on the property, attention was not drawn to the change. As a result we missed that detail and spent an hour getting into the property. VRBO was almost impossible to contact due to there being a poor mobile signal. When we did get through their plan was to rehouse us. As you can imagine this was not practical given our number the time of day and location They did not have/try to give us the correct door lock code and passed us between people three times. It was only that we managed to get the homeowner himself that resolved the issue.

Firstly, I was very sorry to learn of your difficulty in accessing the property and sympathise with your frustration at dealing with VRBO. I did also suffer similar frustration when dealing with them to resolve the issue (which now hopefully has been resolved). I also acknowledge that the sofa is in need of renewal and this is already in hand (although this won't happen immediately unfortunately due to supply constraints and location). Very glad that you enjoyed your stay and that otherwise the house suited your needs.

Fantastic house with everything you need
The house is beautiful, incredibly spacious and very well furnished with everything. The kitchen is particularly well stocked with all the essential items for making large meals for a big group. The views from the house are incredible in every direction. Great selection of games and books which we made use of. Drying room and plenty space to hang things was much appreciated after wet days exploring the mountains. Ged was helpful and prompt in replying to all queries in advance as well as providing all the necessary info for check in and house rules. I’d love to come back to this house again.

Spacious, exceptionally well equipped house, stunning location
My family and I had a truly amazing holiday at Bunloyne. The views form the property are outstanding. The house is very big, very comfortably accommodating our party of 11. Gerard was an excellent host, answering queries extremely promptly. The surrounding area has so much to offer. We enjoyed some lovely walks in Plockton, Balmacarra forest, and had an epic boat trip to see the seal colony, and walk on the sticky rocks at Ergol, on the Isle of Skye. We will definitely be returning to do all the things we didn't manage to do in a week, and to enjoy the house once more

Absolutely beautiful home with picture-postcard views - perfect for family get togethers
We LOVE this house. The pictures don’t do the house or the gorgeous views justice. It’s absolutely huge, but also lovely and warm. It’s great for kids of all ages, we had kids aged 1, 4, 10 and 14 and all of them loved it for the board games, table tennis, the space to run around in - are so many rooms that you can lose your children in it! It has lots of practical features too, like a very well kitted-out kitchen, washing machine (I have messy children), boot room for wet/muddy clothes and a warm room to dry them in. We didn’t spend much time in the garden but that was more suited to older children who can be trusted not to fall down the quite steep in places, drops. It’s also in a great location with loads to do and see nearby. We spent a lot of time on Skye which is only 30 mins away and it wasn’t far to go to Loch Ness either (only 1.5hrs). The only thing that could’ve been added to the house to make it better was a high chair. Otherwise, totally perfect for an autumnal get away. Thanks for a great stay!

Absolutely amazing property!
Our stay at Bunloyne could not have been better. The house with its extraordinary ever-changing views was perfect for our family with plenty of wonderful space for togetherness and for quiet times too. We were perfectly situated for day trips to explore Northern Scotland. Additionally,Ged is a great host, so helpful from booking til checkout.

Stunning house and location
Stunning house and location - couldn't ask for a more relaxing place to stay. Spacious, clean and modern with lots of spaces so that you could always find somewhere quiet to sit. Kitchen well stocked with quality crockery /pans etc. A couple of little things that could be improved but didn't take away from our stay: the lighting in the kitchen was very dim at night - especially by the sink; one twin bedroom didn't have a mirror and the other twin only had a small one and; it would have been nice to have a hook in the bathrooms for dressing gowns. But, like I say - this didn't detract from the beauty of the place. Locally, the pub in dornie did amazing food (probably best to book in advance), and the Eilean Donan castle was beautiful. (make sure you find the view point on the road above dornie). If I was ever that way in the future then I'd definitely stay again :)

Fantastic property and highly recommended (with a few quirks)
A large and stylish property with outstanding views of Loch Long and the surrounding hills. There are plenty of great spaces in this property to relax and enjoy. The kitchen is very well equipped. Overall this is fantastic property and highly recommended. There are a few minor quirks. The master bedroom is huge and would benefit from a little more furniture to soften the space. Also, the large floor-to-ceiling window (with flimsy and stained curtain) in the master ensuite, opposite the toilet is simply impractical - no privacy. Perhaps a double-sink make more sense? Also the garden to the back was a bit scruffy - weeds, plastic bags. All minor gripes though that could be easily improved.

Fantastic stay
Lovely location just by Loch along with views to behold forever . Massive house with all facilities and amnesties kept and maintained in pristine condition. The owner certainly has good taste ;)..We had a grand time with family and friends . The location of this house offers easy access to Skye and the beauty spots of the highlands . We covered plockton , boat trips with the kids , hike to storr , the glo mach falls , quiaraing , fairy pools and a tipple at talisker .. A truly memorable holiday made special by a truly special house . Can’t wait to visit in the future to see autumnal or winter views .

Fantastic house and location
Once you've found the property you will see the views from almost every room in the house. Plenty of space for our extended family around the different rooms. We had glorious weather and managed 2 trips on Skye, Glen Elg, Glen Elchaig and the Applecross peninsula. Our last day was in Plockton which is really lovely

A beautiful holiday cottage in tranquil location and views
very unique experience in tranquil location .very spacious beautifully property maintained with very high standards and guest requirements in mind . I would recommend for any families wanting to have unique highlands experience. Can accommodate 3-4 families however we booked only for 2 families due to COVID restrictions. A dream in Scotland
A huge house with great facilities and a view that takes your breath away. Everything you need is available in the house. The beds are comfortable. The furniture is modern with a touch of Scotland. We will come back and enjoy it again.

Annual Family Get Away
A lovely space for our family to get together in - lots of room to be together or take yourself off for quiet time. Stunning views. We didn’t particularly like the large window and glass door in the en-suite when sitting on the loo - if you had room a bath would perhaps benefit more from the view but we are nit picking here! New ping pong balls needed - the games room would have been used if we’d been able to play table tennis. Great selection of books and games. A lovely welcome gift too, thank you. We would be happy to return as we did love the house and our time spent there - highly recommend.

Hi Elizabeth, Thank you for your kind review. I am sorry that you were not able to play table tennis. There are plenty of ping pong balls in the house and a simple phone call or email would have sufficed to sort that out! I take it that you also found the curtain for the en-suite? Wundervolles Haus mit einer unglaublichen Lage
Das Haus von Ged ist einfach wundervoll. Wir hatten eine unglaublich gute Zeit in diesem Haus. Alles ist sehr sauber, fast jedes Zimmer hat ein eigenes Bad und die Küche hat einen tollen Ausblick. Das Haus ist wirklich mit allem sehr gut ausgestattet. Vielen Dank für diese wunderschöne Zeit.

Huge spacious house with incredible views
What a terrific house! I would say that the photos don’t do the place justice - the rooms are all huge and there is space for even a family of 9 like ourselves to find some quiet space. Everything was very clean on arrival and easy to keep tidy. We found everything we needed in the kitchen to cook some big meals. We had some stunning weather when we were there and the views from the kitchen and the main bedroom were very impressive. Recommended!

Amazing home and location, wonderful host!
This house and location in the highlands of Scotland is absolutely perfect for a family or large group excursion. The house is beautifully appointed and the rooms and bathrooms are such that our family of 12 with American views of space and comfort were perfectly happy. The host was amazing...communication was fantastic...and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! We will definitely be coming back!

Amazing views, lots of space
This is a very modern, well-equipped house with oodles of space - large bedrooms,a games room, with ping pong table, large kitchen with two dining areas, an open plan TV roomm and another lounge a the end of the house with amazong views, The owner Ged was quick to respond to messages re any problems. Set part way up a hill side overlooking the tidal Loch Long, the voew from the house every morning were wonderful and great to wake up to. We would certainly stay there again . Ged sent good directions with photos, but one further tip when finding it, particularly if arriving after dark, put 'Willow Weaving, Sallachy' into Google maps and directions as'Bunloyne' isn't on. Its a couple of hundred yards further up the lane but means you take the correct turning after drving down a single track road for three miles from the main road.

Very spacious house in stunning location
The house is modern and very spacious, with plenty of room for as many as 12 to spread out, lots of bathrooms, a bedroom you could almost get lost in and a spacious table tennis room if the weather kept you in. It was well equipped for meals in (a couple of extra spot lights over the sink area would be handy). It has a stunning outlook over Loch Long and was well located for the long walk in to view the magnificent Falls of Glomach. We would recommend the seafood restaurants in nearby Kyle of Lochalsh (on the station platform) and at the Plockton Inn. Richard

We really enjoyed it!
Wonderful large house with plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen contains everything you need. Even a nice look-out over the lake. :-) Amazing landscapes. The landlord promptly answered every question we sent per E-Mail.
