It is clear that although this home is beautiful in a lovely setting, that as providers of rental property, a positive guest experience is not a priority.
The lack of upfront and honest communication began a couple days before our arrival as we were between continents and very long flights with the great surprise of requesting last minute “fees”, including a 150€ deposit on linens that were found to be grossly stained and insufficient in number, and fees for check-in and check-out times. We arrived to find the property description was fraudulent as this property does not have 4 bathrooms OR a king size bed as described in the VRBO site. To add to the insult and frustration, neither ever took accountability for the inconvenience and lack of accurate information onto myself or my family. When reporting that a bathroom drawer facing fell off and injured my foot and that a toilet seat was not attached, I was told I had “bad luck” by the owner.
Basic information such as where to throw out garbage, Wifi connection, how to use appliances, air conditioners, laundry machines, TV, or where switches are located for shades required many time-consuming emails.
To add to our negative experience, we were clear when we needed to leave at 5:30am. We could not wait for the housekeeper’s lateness and had to decide where the keys would be accessible and safe, as we lost precious time in meeting air flights and train departures.
This whole experience has been upsetting and most disappointing.
