The apartments itself is good, the inner walls are thin, so you can hear everything in the room. But the wall separating the rooms are solid, so no complaints on that part.
It's spacious, the patio is nice and the place only has 7 apartments, so it;s not crowded. The owners are friendly, helpful and flexible. Their is only one air conditioning in the apartment, but it gets the job done.
Improvements to be made:1. Not all rooms have a tv. 2.Needs more hooks to hang up clothes in the rooms and bathroom. 3. The owners close their photo/copy shop at around 6pm which also serve as the check in counter. If you arrive late, you will have to call them which I was not informed about by hotel.com. But they live close by and arrived within a couple of minutes to check us in.
Area: it's in front of a school and next too a bank and some small shops. The area is nice, and 3 blocks away from the main center of La Fortuna. As with most places 3 blocks away from the center has price difference when you look at restaurants and souvenirs shops.
The best thing: The best thing of this place was the local small restaurant in the same building. The food is good, local and very cheap. The only thing, but that is as most things in Costa Rica their service is slow. I would recommend this apartment, I didn't expect it to be this good, it exceeded my expectations. It has the comfort of a home, with the small kitchen, attentive owners and service. I will be using this place again in the future.
