Even when the lake is seasonally (winter) lowered, guests still love the peace, privacy, and sun-drenched decks that make this home a year-round retreat.

The fenced deck with gates gives children and dogs space to play safely while you unwind. The home’s smart layout and comfortable furnishings make it easy to share with another couple or bring the kids along for adventure.

Just about 20 minutes from Chimney Rock State Park and charming Chimney Rock Village, Blue Moon Cottage is close to hiking, waterfalls, shopping, and local favorites like Appalachia, Highlands Kitchen, and Legends on the Lake. Ingles Grocery is only 5 miles away — stock up and settle in, because you may not want to leave!

1 hour to Asheville, NC to multiple breweries, great local eats, local artisans, and tons of hiking, etc.

1.25 hours to Dupont State Recreational Forest where you can hike to three different sets of waterfalls- *my personal favorite hike*

Things to know:

The Lake will be reopening in May 2026 for swimming and water activities.

Every winter the lake is drawn down 12 feet for shoreline repairs.

There are several steps down to get to the property and then more steps to get down to the lake. There are railings everywhere but just something to note when taking luggage down from car.

Trash pickup is Monday mornings. Please make sure trash receptacle is secure every time you open it so to keep bears out.

When using rafts, kayaks, or paddle boards please stay in No Wake Zones to avoid boating traffic. The whole cove is a no wake area so it is safe to be in the cove.

There should be plenty of firewood scattered around outside. If you run out of firewood, Ingles is the closest store to grab a bundle.

Our Checkout process is easy:

Load and start the dishwasher

Gather all used towels and start a load of laundry (do not worry about bedding)

Gather all trash and drop into bins at top of parking area (make sure to secure bins s that bears cannot get in)
