This was an absolutely amazing experience. We stayed for 18 days. We didn't come for vacation but came to West Palm Beach (north of her for my surgery (below the knee amputation) with a surgeon who is a specialist for my condition. So this review may be atypical of others. We live just outside St Louis MO so we needed a place to stay that was private and comfortable for my recovery. As I needed to stay in the area for 2 weeks for follow-up. I didn't want to stay in a hotel. Besides the high cost of the hotels in the area of WPB, the minimal privacy, interruptions, and inaccessibility, a vacation place like this seemed a much better option. At least for me.
This place is a hidden gem. If you stay here ONLY tell people that you like because this needs to stay an oasis! Shayne the host, was MORE than accomodating. He understood why we came there and was extremely respectful of our privacy, while checking in to making sure we had enough towels, if we needed to do laundry or if he could get us more linens etc. He cares about his little spot and the people who come to stay.
Space: it's a converted, detached garage, basically an adorable tiny home that had everything we needed to hold groceries, cook (cooktop & microwave, no oven), watch movies/tv great wifi and wheelchair accessible. It's all fenced, private, w/ large trees, a beautiful patio and yard. It was lovely and shady except for only a few hours midday. AC works great! Beach is 5 mins away and the sky is stunning at night. We will definitely be coming back some day for a real vacation!
ADA: my wheelchair was the 18" seat and 24" wide total, standard height. I was easily able to access the property, in the chair, from the car to the front door. The door has one step in that is rather small in height but I did need help getting in and out. But that's the only step in the whole area. I was able to get in and out of the bathroom with room to turn around. The only thing is the walkway to the shower in the bathroom was too narrow (b/c of the vanity) for the wheelchair but the walker did fit. It has a small step into the shower, maybe 3" But it fits a shower bench perfectly and transfer was easy. Not to mention the shower is gorgeous and open; no shower doors and it has a handheld shower head. The bed was the same height as the wheelchair so again transfers were easy. I could easily maneuver around the little place. It was perfect and worth the money, without a doubt. Thank you Shayne and Ivana!!
