## Emplacement
A marked identity, a renowned seaside resort, Le Barcarès has everything to seduce. Surrounded by a pond and the sea, this strip of land was abandoned until the 17th century. It was then that a fishing village settled there and a few decades later, Le Barcarès had an important fishing port, and even shipyards where the famous Catalan boat was built. In the 1960s, property developers took over the coastline and made Barcarès a renowned seaside resort with the symbol of Le Lydia, stranded on its beaches. This liner, now converted into a museum, disco and restaurant, is the fourth oldest existing liner in the world. The neighborhoods all have a particular character and you will like to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of each one. From the old village to the Grande Plage, from the Lido to the Port, the atmospheres change and give a unique character to Barcarès.
