We were assigned three rooms. The first smelled of cigarettes masked with freshener spray. The second room had not been cleaned prior to being assigned to us. The third was clean but every sound from the room above (including bathroom trips) was heard.
No one was available to man the front desk when we arrived. While we waited for someone to drive in, we had the pleasure of watching people in the lobby steal from the in hotel market. I felt sorry for the one employee that was trying to hold down the fort on Christmas eve after a coworker called off, but when you pair everything together, the trip was not getting off to a great start.
But wait! Our car was broken into in the parking lot that night and when we reported it to the police, we were informed that it was very common in that part of Lexington due to the large homeless population. 16 hours. That was how long we stayed before packing up and going home. Without cameras and better lighting at the property, I would not recommend the hotel to other visitors.
I do want to thank the front desk staff for helping us cover our busted window. If I had not prepaid on Expedia, I am not sure we would have stayed after the 3 room debacle, but the staff worked with Expedia to get us out of there and headed home as soon as possible.
