We stayed at the Best Western for one night. Check in was easy and our room was very clean. The air conditioner sounded like a creepy squeaky door each time it turned off (roughly every 30 minutes) which was scary when we were sleeping. Check-out, however, was frustrating. Due to new policies in place at this specific Best Western, they preauthorized the first (only) night and then proceeded to charge us for the night. On our online banking, we could see two charges for the full amount pending. When we questioned the staff at the desk as to why it appeared that we were being charged twice for a one-night stay, she (a manager) got very defensive and upset. I stopped her twice during her rant to explain that we weren't mad at her...we just wanted to understand what was happening. Her bedside manner (ie - social skills) was lacking and she wasn't able to 'read the room.' Other guests were staring at us as they walked by as if we were the ones causing a scene. My husband and exchanged several looks, unsure of how to respond to her behavior. I completely understand that she may have been having a bad day, however, we did absolutely nothing to trigger the reaction we received. We ended up leaving without a resolution and were made to feel as though we were a burden for asking clarifying questions. Now, we are left with nearly $500 worth of charges that we have to figure out with our bank.
