I spent a few lovely quiet days here with my grandson, during a spell of wonderful hot weather. We spent time relaxing on the large patio in the sunshine as well at going for walks along the Nivernais Canal which is extremely close by. The house stayed beautifully cool despite the outside heat, so when it got too hot outside we could make use of the English TV or DVDs (or the French TV in the kitchen!) to relax. The hot weather enabled us to have two barbecues in the evening and we ate out on the patio. The house has every possible amenity to make the stay very comfortable. Although the village does not have any shops itself, Moulins Englilbert is only about 5km away and has a good supermarket, pharmacy, butcher etc which provided all the daily shopping that we needed.
The Lac des Setons is not too far away, where we could hire pedaloes/boats , and could swim if we wanted to.
Although WiFi is not available within the property, it is readily accessible at the nearby campsite, which also has a restaurant (with a themed evening on a Thursday). I found the website www.lebarrage.fr excellent and particularly helpful, with details of walks, restaurant, nearby attractions etc etc.
