Best staff ever!
Best possible service! The staff was relly so very kind and helpful, the best thing with the hotel! Besides that the balcony was really over the top!

Underbart hotell med otrolig service
Ett helt makalöst och UNDERBART hotell. Utmärkt service. Mycket trevlig frukost. Fina rum och en helt otrolig lobby med härligt glastak i olika färger. Bibliotek och "The-room". Varje bord man passerade hade en skål med godis. Så fort man vistades på nedervångingen så kom det en otroligt serviceminded personal och ville bjuda på något. Liten men härlig uteplats med utsikt över havet. Man kunde sitta i bilioteket och hitta nya härliga detaljer i interiören hela tiden. Kanonbra transfer-service T&R flygplatsen. Enda nackdelen var en hård säng som knarrade så fort man rörde sig och det var lite lyhört... Men vilket härligt hotell. LOVE IT :)

This is not like any hotel I have ever stayed at. This was more like going home and visiting family. Tiago and Chevier (probably spelled wrong) went out of their way to take care of us. We traveled far and were exhausted when we arrived before 10am. They quickly offered us breakfast while we waited for our room to be cleaned. They granted us entry to the room quickly. This is an older large home converted to a hotel with rooms. We stayed on the 3rd floor in the front facing suite. It was comfortable and had every amenity possible. I would stay here again and again. The breakfast was amazing and fresh juice and pastries can’t be beat. Breakfast on the terrace was like being in a movie. I chose the ride from the airport to the hotel by the driver service that they offered as I have read other drivers have had trouble finding it. It was a great experience all the way around.

A stunning unusual historic quirky masterpiece of a hotel. The service provided by the staff was uncommon and outstanding, never had such concerned and helpful staff in a hotel. The included breakfast was phenomenal. Really the best that Lisbon has to offer. the Alfama neighborhood is the perfect location. But be prepared for a walking and climbing and walking and climbing, and walking and climbing.

The property is exquisite. It is right along the water in Afalma, and extremely walkable. Rodrigo and Tiago are warm and welcoming hosts. Definitely recommend for travelers to Lisboa.

Really unique property. 6 rooms furnished in the old world style. Staff is amazing and will do pretty much anything to be helpful. You’re told to treat the place like your home and it felt like it was!

Disappointing, expensive
Deceptive advertising and not worth the money. While the building is eclectic and curious in its own way, it is not “luxurious”, “exclusive” or “refined”. To get there from our Uber we had to walk through a filthy entrance, strewn with trash and fragrant of urine. I booked one of the more elegant seeming rooms on their website, with hardwood floors and grand windows, but they placed us in a dank attic room three flights up (with to no elevator) with carpet, little light, old unattractive furniture, and no historical detail. They eventually offered to move us, but at this point it was too late in evening to pack up and relocate. The staff are kind and the location in Alfama is convenient, but this is a two star experience with four star prices.

This property is a historic building, so it’s very special. The views are unbeatable, the staff is exceptionally accommodating and friendly. The breakfast was great and we enjoyed our stay. There is one downside, which is it is a bit hard to find and not all the taxi drivers know the location and how to get to the entrance. Once you know, it is a great find.

Absolutely beautiful! Great area for drinks and dining. All of the staff were excellent. On night the host walked us to a local restaurant to make sure we got there safely. Just a wonderful experience. Our first time in Lisbon and we will be back.

This is truly exceptional, in an early twentieth century palace with only six full suites (the luxury one on top with steps up to a 360-degree city view). It is on the river, in a fun neighborhood just north of the old city center, but itself quite historic with tile-fronted houses. The hotel/castle’s interior detail work and stain-glass windows are phenomenal. The service the most outstanding of all, and a delicious full breakfast, home-made and hot, served in any location desired. The entire large first floor is available for guests’ use, and the drawing room has an original very old globe to enjoy, as merely an example of all that has been saved as decor; the same for the original chandeliers. Do not miss this, if possible. Delightful, very special, far from the realm of even the most upscale hotels.

Do not stay in this hotel! We booked a room for three days. I soon as we checked in, we noticed a bad smell in our room. After 30 minutes we advised the manager the smell was so bad we could not stay there. The manager agreed there was a smell in the room, but said the refund was up to the top management. We left the hotel only to learn later that the hotel has a no refund policy and refused to give us any refund! In addition, the hotel looks nothing like the pictures. It is old and rundown like a grandma house.

Beautiful property that is a bed and breakfast. Could be great if they altered what was served for breakfast. 5 days and the same thing served each day. They should also set out a bar or wine and beer and some snacks each afternoon. Asked for breakfast the night before at 7:20 one morning and had to leave for a tour without eating because it was not ready. While we enjoyed our stay, it is certainly not at the 5 star level. With a little staff training, menu adjustments and some additional amenities they could get close.

The front desk staff, Xavier, Tiago, Bruno and Danilo went out of there way to provide a wonderful experience from our arrival to our departure from carrying our luggage up the stairs, making reservations, and securing taxis. Breakfast was excellent every morning, and we were provided a boxed breakfast with cappuccinos the morning we traveled to Sintra. The tower room was lovely with an amazing two level balcony. The area around the hotel, Alfama, was so charming and authentic. It was the perfect beginning to our vacation.

This boutique hotel, which was a house previously, felt like a home to us. The decor was according to the period and was so unique. Our suite was very large and comfortable with several windows and doors that opened up to the streets of Alfama. The location was perfect. Out our door the street was closed to cars and was lined with restaurants that played Fado music. The best part was the staff! They made us feel special. The breakfast was stellar. We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful building with beyond wonderful service. Truly worth every penny, get the suite with the patio if you can. They brought the scrumptious breakfast to our room at no charge, we never wanted to leave. The only inconvenience is finding the place once you arrive at the address!

This is not 5 star, 2 star at most, you need to walk through a dark alley with overflowing dumpsters, then you need to walk 20 dirty steps, there is a door in a dark allay with a doorbelll, i usually stay at 5 star properties, this was not one of them by any stretch of the imagination, false advertising, both expedia and the “ hotel” refused refund.

Dear Mr. Steinar, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience regarding your recent booking. We are sad to see that we did not match your expectations and understand your motives. Unfortunately, the streets and alleys of Lisbon sometimes are not as cleaned as we wanted. We keep very high standards of cleaning inside the whole house but, sadly, we cannot do much regarding the outside of the property or the dumpsters. Regarding the refund, our hotel only has six rooms in total which does not allow us to be very flexible. Kind regards

Loved - the hotel with its huge, beautifully appointed rooms, breakfast on the balcony, freshly squeezed orange juice, separate shower, convenient locale, and the attention to every detail by the head of staff. Hated all the stairs, outside and inside the hotel, but I'm old, and the very solid mattress on my bed.

The hotel has been wonderfully restored to its original splendor. Very clean, comfortable and welcoming. The suites are spacious and tastefully decorated. The included continental breakfast is delicious. The staff are attentive and gracious and very hard working. What more can I say? Except we WILL be back!
