There's better alternatives in the area
One of the worse experiences I have had in LA. I don't generally give negative reviews lightly so I wanted to take a few days to think about it first - but yes this was not a great stay. Out of several negative things, the one that stuck out the most was the service. One example - we came back to the hotel after dinner and wanted to have a drink at the restaurant bar before going to the room. It's about half-empty. We tell the gentleman working at the restaurant that we won't be eating and only have a drink. He shows us to a table and the waitress comes to take our order. When she finds out we're not eating, she says it is against the rules and we need to pay for our drinks now and take them to the bar. We think...ok, it was your colleague who sat us here, but fine. While she is getting the cheque, her manager also comes over, and says "I'm gonna need y'all to order some food!". What kind of place is this that's half empty, and 3 different staff don't even communicate with each other? We left our drinks and paid up and went to bed. There were other smaller things like me showing up 40 minutes after the check-in time from a transatlantic flight and my room still wasn't ready, or that there were 10 cops surrounding a man sitting on the ground in the parking lot one of the days. Overall just a very anxiety-inducing stay. It's possible I just caught them during a bad week, and the beach is nice. But I'm not planning to stay here again.

Nice area of LA
The hotel is very good, the valet parking is 35 dollar/day but there is an outside public parking very close (on the other side of the road).

We had an excellent time at Jamaica Bay. The location is lovely, the linens are luxurious and the staff is kind and professional. The price is not cheap, but is comparable with other fine hotels in the area.

The team here took amazing care of us. From the gorgeous room, with stunning views and which has clearly been renovated in the past year, to the front desk staff who took such wonderful care of us and the back patio, which is a lovely place to spend an afternoon. this place is great in every way.

The staff friendly and efficient. The room comfortable. The air conditioner is a bit noisy but efficient. Bathroom lighting amazing. The water in the bathroom gets hot quickly to scalding temps. The faucet if water turned up will spray all over. The beds comfortable the pillows a bit flat but ok. The restaurant has good food. Selection limited. The coffee is good. The bar closes early but when open good cocktails and appetizers. The TV was difficult to figure out how to use so we skipped it. We did not miss it.

We loved our stay at Jamaica Bay. We read some of the negative reviews and couldn’t understand what any problems were. Our room was recently updated and had a balcony right on Mother’s Beach. The restaurant downstairs offered delicious food and has great entertainment. All of the staff were super helpful and concerned about our stay. We will definitely return.

Das Hotel bietet einer der schönsten Ausblicke von L.A. direkt auf den kleinen Sandstrand von Marina del Rey. Der Aufpreis für die entsprechenden Zimmer lohnt sich. Venice Pier bzw. Venice Beach liegt in Fussreichweite. Die anderen touristischen Highlights wie Santa Monica, Malibu, Hollywood, usw. sind mit dem Auto gut zu erreichen. Sehr geräumige Zimmer, die momentan (Januar 24) peu a peu renoviert werden, aber auch der alte Zustand ist in Ordnung. Pool & Whirlpool sollten auch mal wieder renoviert werden, sind aber ebenfalls in Ordnung. An dem wenige Meter entfernt gelegenen Marina-Strand befinden sich BBQ-Plätze (Grill & Bänke) zur freien Benutzung. Das Hotelrestaurant gilt auch für Ortsansässige als beliebtes Frühstückslokal, das Frühstück ist allerdings nicht im Preis inbegriffen. Die typisch amerikanischen Restaurants „Cheesecake-Factory“ und „Killerschrimp“ liegen nur wenige Meter entfernt. Parken kostet 32$/Nacht, solange man selbst parkt. Bei Valet Parking wird es noch teuerer, leider eine viel zu hohe Gebühr, die in den USA aber in den letzten Jahren üblich ist. Wir waren sind regelmäßige Gäste in L.A. und für uns passt die Kombination aus Lage, Aussicht, Zimmergröße und Preis am besten. Palmen vor dem Hotel und der Strand lassen gleich ein wohliges Urlaubsgefühl aufkommen.

We enjoyed being by the marina and it was a good walk to the beach and pretty close to Venice. The carpet in the main hallway was a bit dated, but I thought the room was very nice. The restaurant and bar with view of the marina was cool. Front desk was very nice. Would stay there again.

Just don’t.
The staff was very helpful and friendly but the beds were NOT queen sized and were horribly uncomfortable. There was a water shutoff on the first night we stayed and had I known that was going to happen I wouldn’t have booked. All in all I would not recommend this hotel, especially at the price point.
