Lugano is in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino and combines the very best of Switzerland and Italy. It is known for its rich heritage, picture-perfect streets and stunning natural setting. Head to the Piazza Della Riforma (23 minutes walk), the heart of the city, to sample some of the best local cuisines. If you prefer to cook yourself, then Lungano’s farmers’ market (Tuesdays and Fridays) in Via Carducci (20 mins walk) is the place to go to pick up the best ingredients.

A day trip out on the Lago Lugano is not to be missed. If you would rather stay on land, then a stroll along the lakeshore offers magnificent views over the water.
