“The room was clean enough but the shower room had streaks down the paint and signs of mildew. There was some discarded cigarettes by our bedroom door that a previous occupant must have left but housekeeping never removed them before or during our stay. Food in the restaurant was decent but the service was slow and we had to ask several times over for jugs of water to be brought to our table, too. “Very attractive grounds and hotel facade. Internal amenities were reasonable. But restaurant was dire....both dinner and evening meal, disappointing after / before long drive. It photographed well on the website but I should have taken the time to look at the menu...clue would have been there.”

“Wow. Amazing to find a Hotel like that in the middle of nowhere. While the decor is dated, the staff and food were great. We didn’t see any squirrels- which was a bit disappointing. Great walks around the area.”

“Accommodation was satisfactory but the noise from other residents throughout the night was awful. In our room on the ground floor, you could hear every footstep and every word - the walls were paper thin. ”

“Staff were kind and friendly. Food was good in the bar but over priced. My room was grubby, the bedding and bathroom were clean but there was dust and dirt on the ledges and windowsills. No shower gel in the bathroom either. I was also above the kitchen there was lots of banging about outside and a constant humming/droning from what sounded like extractor fans. This did stop around 9pm but then started up again at 10pm. It was really quite loud, I could still hear it when I had my headphones...

Room was very clean but very noisy could here people in next room even their conversation and our room was at the front so constant traffic noise , lots of lorry’s going by. The double bed in our room (4) was very uncomfortable could feel the springs so not much sleep. Breakfast was interesting bought to your room in a basket ! ”

“It’s so hard to find the quintessential English pub these days but the shoulder of mutton hits the spot. The food was home cooked and great, not prepackaged Pub was clean, no damp or mould The view from the beer garden was amazing overlooking the valley The room was Pub basic but clean and not mouldy. Price point was spot on Publican and chef fantastic Highly recommend”

“En väldigt stort och rymligt rum på ett centralt boende. Rummet var ganska dammigt och på morgonen fanns ingen personal tillgänglig före kl 9, vilket drar ner betyget. Efter att puben stängt på kvällen fortsatte festen utanför, och det blev väldigt högljutt och svårt att sova.”
