The Bamboo Room

The Bamboo Room is set on the first floor, with a balcony that looks out over the garden and toward the ocean beyond. Inside, it’s simple and considered. A comfortable sleeping space with airflow, a small desk if you need it, and lighting and outlets placed where they make sense. The bathroom is open to the air, bringing in light, plants, and the feeling of being outside without leaving the room.  

Downstairs, there’s a shared kitchen, dining, and lounge area if you feel like cooking or taking things slow. If not, you can walk across to Pradeepa’s place. She runs Sunshine Café just opposite and prepares Sri Lankan meals daily. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are easy to arrange, and cooking classes are available if you want to learn more.  

Guests have access to the full garden and ground floor spaces, as well as the family room garden area which features a skatepark tucked behind the building. There in the garden area, you’ll find hammocks, outdoor seating, and a fishpond with a Buddha beside it, a quieter corner if you feel like stepping away for a bit. Closer to the main house, there’s a concrete halfpipe, a plunge pool, a playground, and an outdoor shower for cooling off after a surf or skate. The beach is a short walk away and tends to shape the rhythm of the day.
