Perfect Stay
I cannot be more happy with our stay. We rented Cedar Cliff as a smaller alternative for our wedding. The space was large and accommodated all our guests and wedding dinner. The large table in the Grand Room was PERFECT! The location on the cliffs was amazing for our ceremony and photos. Perfect Day. If we have a question, the hosts were super responsive to all our needs. Will be back for sure!

Beautiful home for a large group!
We rented this home to celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary. There were 15 of us, ranging from ages 14-69. The house provided most of what we needed for our stay... a bed for everyone and multiple bathrooms. The house stays true to its age and authenticity, meaning little to no updates, and leans more towards the "rustic" side. (No dishwasher, washer/dryer, etc, small bathrooms, etc... which was fine by us.) If you want to keep a fire going, be sure to purchase and/or bring lots of firewood. We loved the lake views and the large family gathering rooms! No need to bring bottled water, as the well water is delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed the location, size, character, and comfort of this beautiful home!

Family Holiday Gathering
Our family of 8 had a wonderful stay at this Lake Superior gem. The location is incredible. Everything we needed was stocked and ready to go. We enjoyed the 'bones' of this 1930's era house. Grateful to have had a great experience that provided memories for decades.

Dirty floors, dusty, rotting wood floor under toilet tank, oven worked and then it didn't. Inconsistent check-in, check-out instructions. We will not be returning to this rental.

We appreciate all feedback. The toilet tank sweats and after trying everything, we have scheduled a tank and floor replacement this November.. The pilot infrequently blows out on the stove and we are sorry that was not reported in time to relight before dinner.We have reported the check in time error that VRBO has sent to our guests . We have no control over what they send. Our listing and email have he correct times. We apologize for your inconveinence and will do our best to rectify these issues.

Cedar Cliff Family Stay
We stayed for 3 nights in August 2023 with a group of 16 adults and 3 young children (aged 10 moths to 4 years). The group included Minnesotans and family from Spain on their first trip to Minnesota. Cedar Cliff is a wonderful property and setting. A few things were a little "rough around the edges", but then it is an historic kind of property with it's own type of charm. Overall we enjoyed the stay and had a great time together. We would definitely stay again, especially if we had another large group.

Beautiful Location, With a Sizeable and Charming House
The Cedar Cliff property is in a beautiful location overlooking Lake Superior! The house is older and charming, and the owners stocked it very well. It's only a 5 min drive to Eagle Mountain Ski Resort, and very close to the local General Store in Tofte that has everything that you'll need.

Perfect family gathering place!!
So much wonderful space: TWO huge screened porches, the longest dining table anywhere, with enough chairs to seat all 22 family members, along with enough PLATES and serving dishes and cooking pots--miraculous! FABULOUS 6-burner gas stove. And pet-friendly!! Even though most of our relatives were staying elsewhere, we found this was the perfect gathering place most evenings, for all of these reasons--and it felt very much like a return to our grandmother's huge lakeside cottage, where we spent every summer in our childhood. THANKS FOR A GREAT TIME!!

Superior experience for all!
Our family came together to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary, two upcoming retirements, and annual vacations for families who live in four different states and rarely have the opportunity to be together. We enjoyed the house, lake, fire side pit, and many excursions. It was delightful in every way and memorable for our family. Thank you for the opportunity.

Family Get together
We had a wonderful time at Cedar Cliff,the house was perfect for us.Everybody enjoyed being together with plenty of space The house was perfect,clean and it has everything you need and more. We were there late June the weather was cool. But lots of mosquitos but that is just a fact of nature and it didn't spoil our fun !!

Very charming, large, old Craftsman home
I really liked the charm of the old house. It wasn't new, but nicely kept. Well stocked. Wonderful location and view of the lake. Good proximity to North Shore spots.

No TV...what to do
We rented this awesome house January 2022 for our family of 10, ages 23-87. I was concerned that 3 days with no TV would be a challenge. Instead it was an experience I will never forget. Our time was spent playing games, doing puzzles, cooking amazing food and telling stories. This was by far my favorite vacation. Michelle

Perfect ski weekend with friends
This is a perfect property for a large group of friends/family looking to do a ski weekend at Lutsen. It's a 5 minute drive to the Lutsen mountains, but you get the incredible lake views at your house. We could not believe the beauty of the property and views of sunrise and sunset on the North Shore. The house was perfect for our group of 20, and we loved being all-together at the charming, cozy, historic house. The massive great room was ideal for eating and games, and everyone honestly loved gathering/cramming into the little breakfast nook when we woke up in the morning. We would love to return every year. It was a perfect stay.

Lutsen cabin
We had a delightful stay. The cabin, location, and amenities were fantastic. We were there during a cold snap over New Year's and the cabin remained cozy and warm. The fireplace was great and is a perfect place for larger groups. Proximity to skiing can't be beat.

Exactly what we needed!
Although there are not a lot of modern amenities with this property, the amenities that are there were perfect for my family! The charm of the house is welcoming and cozy. The water, the outdoor fire pit, and the outdoor area were well used by us all! There’s a calming waterfall right next to the property that was fun to explore! The beds and bedding exceeded expectations when it comes to a VRBO. The games,books, and puzzles were a good variety and, again, well used . The kitchen was very well stocked and we cooked there often during our stay. We will stay again if the opportunity arises!

Beautiful setting
The location and setting are wonderful. Lovely views of Lake Superior. Lots of space for eleven women enjoying a weekend of hiking. Gorgeous fireplace. Very well equipped kitchen with everything we needed. One suggestion for owner is to add more lighting in the living area.

A little piece of heaven
We loved the character of this home. There was plenty of room for the 10 of us. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, spices & everything you could think of. The weather was beautiful, we even swam in Superior, nippy but doable. We spent a lot of our evenings on the screen porch and down at the fire pit. I would definitely recommend this home and look forward to returning in the near future.

Family Fun
Our multi-generational family group thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful historic home on the shores of Lake Superior. We spent days and evenings on the 2 large screened in porches enjoying each others company while playing cards, board games or just just talking, laughing and creating great memories. The kitchen is outstanding as is the dinning area and living room. The bedrooms were very comfortable and waking up to the sound of waves of the lake was and added bonus. The house is located just a short drive from the areas most scenic destinations. I highly recommend Cedar Cliff Retreat for your next vacation.

Perfect location for family reunion!
The great room is absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed the porches on both sides of the house for listening to the waves at night. The bedrooms are situated for families to have their own space during the stay and we were happy that there were doors to close off the bedroom hallways so the little kids didn’t get woken up from the adults in the great room. We would definitely stay here again!!

Awesome Location
Great trip to the North Shore and house was fantastic. Location was great to do day trips as far south as Gooseberry Falls and as far north as Grand Portage. Lutsen has a great little grocery store and coffee shop we visited daily. House was perfect for 15 adults with plenty of room for everyone and that great dining room table for dinners together. Fires every night and absolutely stunning views. Could not have been more pleased with the accommodations! Absolutely loved it!

Memorial day weekend trip
I stayed here with a large group of friends over memorial weekend and it was the perfect location for hiking and exploring the north shore. The property's shore line is beautiful and the place was well stocked with everything we needed. I would definitely stay again!
