Lacked basic tools for self catering. Poor quality utensils, cutlery and cooking essentials. Dear Susan. I'm saddened to read my first negative review in over 4 years of renting my lovely lodge but I am, of course, open to constructive criticism! I'm sorry you found my lodge to be "very basic" for the price you paid. I price my lodge very competitively and it is always considerably cheaper than the equivalent Shorefield owned lodges. Also, it is situated in one of the best spots on the park, being right by the fishing lake, so you know exactly where you will be, unlike with a Shorefield lodge (where extra charges apply to reserve specific lodges). I have just spent £5,000 on a new deck (which was my priority spend this year) and the bathroom is being upgraded next week (my next priority spend) so I absolutely agree with your shower and door comments. The kitchen cold water tap has always been like that, no matter what we do… one of those things! As for a fish filleting knife, I don't know what that is! There should be a pairing knife and at least one other type of utility knife, as well as a bread knife, in the drawers but I will look for a knife block. I replaced the cutlery and glassware at the beginning of this season and it is not poor quality. There are various pots and pans and all the usual utensils so I simply wont accept your comment that my lodge lacks basic tools for self-catering. The French doors can be a bit stiff, depending on the weather. They are wooden and expand and contract accordingly. I am looking at having them replaced with PVC ones in due course but this is an expense I can ill afford at the moment after losing so many rentals over the past 15 months due to Covid. Washing up bowl - I don't use one. I simply use the sink. No cushions on the sofas - most accommodation providers are doing away with un-necessary soft furnishings due to Covid. In normal times, I provide cushions and extra blankets as well as other 'home comforts' but have been advised not to for the time being. I do hope these relatively minor issues did not affect your stay too much and you were able to enjoy your break. Kate

Thanks for your review Lucy. I can only assume the estates team have not pruned the lakeside shrubs lately as usually there is a great, unobstructed view of the lake, which is just 10ft from the deck.
