He showed me how to access once the pub was closed, helped me empty the bags from the car and carried them to our room all with a friendly, nothing was too much trouble approach. “The location is a perfect ten, but the staff was far from good. First of all, it took us 1.5 hours to check in, and we didn’t sense any effort to speed up the process. There was a complete lack of willingness from the staff to make our experience enjoyable. Our room was also dirty, which unfortunately aligned with the poor check-in experience. The Tan Hill has the potential to be amazing. It has everything going for it—except the staff, who failed to make our stay pleasant.”

“The only downside was breakfast only one staff member to take order and cook as well which meant the self service area was not restocked so there was no juice or cutlery left so had to improvise. Area very small had to move table backwards and forwards to get legs under table from both sides. Long wait for breakfast and only one piece of toast would be better with 2. Plus side excellent coffee machine fresh coffee flavoured syrups and able to choose type of coffee. Bar well equipped friendly...

“was able to park just in front of stable room work is in progress at the property so didnt look its best on the outside,inside was fab we had everything we needed plus extras like fridge ,toaster,microwave plenty of plates mugs dishes good drinks making equipment,single beds were comfy and spotless,tv was a bit confusing but we managed in the end,we had a lot of noise on the 2 nd evening and early morning could have been the workmen🙄 the royal oak pub is extremely welcoming drinks and meals...

“We booked the cottage and were so glad we did. The photos although good, don’t really do it justice. The bedroom opens out onto a spacious balcony with good quality wooden table and chairs. The view is very serene, as you can see the river. The hot tub is really amazing. It was very clean and we were shown how to use it properly. If anything it was a little hot at 40c. It kept this heat for several hours. Bathroom was beautiful. Living room immaculate. And a 2nd bathroom with toilet and shower....

We had a good sized twin room with all amenities and a large shower room. A good variety of options at breakfast with lovely views overlooking the fields..,, Would happily recommend.”
