Ett hotell vi rekommenderar.
Hotellet är mycket trevligt med vänlig personal som är service inriktade. Ligger mycket bra nere vid hamnen och havet. Vi är mycket nöjda.

Välbevarat och charmigt med perfekt läge nära de gamla stadsdelarna. Härligt rum med skön säng och fantastisk utsikt över havet. Rent och fräscht, underbar frukost. Rekommenderas å det varmaste, vi skulle definitivt välja det igen i Funchal.

Trevligt hotell med fantastiskt läge
Trevligt hotell med ett fantastiskt läge nära gamla stan i Funchal. Bra frukostbuffé och trevlig plats både ute och under tak att äta frukost på.

Bra hotell men riskvarning för flygplats
Bra ort och mycket bra hotel med bästa läge och med mkt fin mat. Man bör dock var beredd på att flygplatsen på Funchal är blåsig Vilket kan innebära som för oss att efter 2 försök till att landa fick flyga vidare till grannön och landa där. Sedan fick vi fortsätta resan på egen bekostnad med båt och taxi till Funchal. Då flygbolaget Lufthansa ville flyga tillbaka planet med alla passagerare till Frankfurt. Det innebar att resan dit var krävande lång och seg. På plats till slut kanonbra!

Väldigt trevligt hotell. Rent och snyggt och trevlig personal. Bad att få byta rum då vårt låg på nedre botten och nästan utan utsikt. Hotellet var fullbokat men receptionisten ordnade så vi fick byta till en våning högre med sjöutsikt. Den gästen skulle checka in 1 timme senare och fick vårt rum i stället.

Mycket bra att barn inte fick bo där. Tyst och bra
Vi hade tur med vädret och hotellet var mycket avkopplande och tyst.

Sea view, kanske inte
Om man vill ha "Sea View" finns alla varianter från "kan anas mellan träden" och "tunn strimma ovanför muren 20 m bort" till hela havet framför dig. Begär front row high up eller avboka. Annars ett bra lyxhotell med oftast bra o tjänstvillig reception. Vi hade dock otur direkt vid ankomst med dubbla budskap om incheckning, sur receptionist och obefintlig havsutsikt när vi valde hotellet där alla rum har "Sea view". Det tog 4 dagar och 2 rumsbyten att komma rätt. Det finns bara 1 in-/utgång så det blir långa promenader. Bra frukost. Simbassängen liten och grund, inget att simma i. Utanför hotellet finns betong/stenstrand där man kan simma ut i havet. Ytterligare 200 m bort finns en bekväm betongstrand där simbassängen heter Atlanten. OBS! Kräv front row high up, boka om annars.

Great hotel much value for money!
We really enjoyed our stay, very good location, great breakfast with bubbles! They have a wonderful terrace with great views and great dinner buffet. As a bonus we had live music every evening in the cozy bar area. Could not been more perfect! We will definitely come back and we can’t wait for the opening of a new hotel in Lisbon! Don't hesitate to book this hotel!

Das Hotel ist sehr guenstig gelegen mit direktem Zugang zum Kiesstrand vor dem Hotel. Alles ist von dort aus fusslaeufig bequem zu erreichen. Wenn man in der Stadt bleiben will, braucht man keinen Mietwagen. Aber folgende Zimmer sind zu vermeiden: Nr. 18, 19, 20. Die haben zwar einen schoenen Blick direkt aufs Wasser, aber sind nachts wegen der davorliegenden Generatoren fuer die Anlage sehr laut. Wir bekamen am naechsten Tag ein anderes Zimmer Nr. 156, das direkt zu einem Park hinaussieht. Dort treibt sich komisches Volk herum. Die Gaeste in den danebenliegenden Restaurants sind nachts sehr laut. Aber normalerweise ab Mitternacht herrscht Ruhe. Man sollte besser ein Zimmer buchen das aufs Wasser ausgerichtet ist, aber nicht die Nr. 18 - 20. Das Fruehstueck war excellent.

Jan 2024 stay
Very nice hotel in great location in the "old town" and on the sea front. We had a standard room with a small balcony overlooking the park. This was a bit noisy on the Friday and Saturday nights so it's best to pay the extra for a sea view room. Funchel itself is very nice and not expensive, the people are very friendly.

Great location and facilities. We were there for New year, the gala dinner was excellent , the staff went above and beyond to entertain the guests. I would definitely recommend hotel for older or infirm as they seemed very well catered for. The only thing I could fault was the breakfast juice from a machine was awful, more like squash.

Great location to explore old town and generally of a high standard. Be careful which room you book as the basic ones are on the side of the hotel and get no sun nor views. We switched to an another room after a couple of days which was more money but had a great sea view(145).

Hotel Porto Santa Maria
Clean, comfortable and friendly, efficient staff that gave good service. Lots of food at breakfast but not quite of the quality expected. If visiting you should know that ground floor rooms are sold as being full sea view.

Lovely hotel, clean. Good location within walking distance of town. Close to the old town where there are lots of good restaurants less than 5minutes away Staff friendly but service at Happy Hour was a little slow - due to not quite enough staff Our room on the ground floor was close to the pool pump room and quite noisy from 7am

This is an excellent hotel and Ive stayed here for many years. The only issue, for no fault of the hotel, is the west facing bedrooms. They overlook a small park area where local undesirables congregate until the very early hours, also some bars close to the hotel, are open until 2am on the weekends. Unless you are a heavy sleeper its noisy.

Overall, it was a good stay. The air conditioning wasn’t the best. It was loud, wasn’t cooling the room enough and it took a long time to get the room to a cool enough temperature to make it easy to sleep. The staff also turned off the AC after they cleaned our room, so it was a daily challenge to get the room cool enough. The shower in our room wasn’t mixing cold and hot water well. While showering you would get alternating cycles of hot and cold water. The front desk staff were welcoming. Breakfast was very good

Ruhiges Luxushotel in zentraler Lage
Absolut top. Zentraler in Funchal geht es nicht. Sehr ruhig. Eigenes kostenfreies Parkhaus. Geschäfte, Restaurants direkt nebenan, ebenso Meerpromenade. Sauberes funktionales Zimmer. Sehr gutes Frühstück. Empfehlenswert!

Excellent Resort and Great Buffet Food
We had an sea view and the room was excellent and spacious with stove and cooking utensils. The staff is great and will help book and answer all questions. Tip for improvement: Front desk staff is nice, they will help answer your questions, but we felt they lacked conviction, more enthusiasm, more 1-1 chats (maybe culture or training), like really going above and beyond. For example, asking where we are from, have you tried the local dishes, giving us recommendations, more personal service would have been helpful. The Buffet dinner is great when its outdoor BBQ, but the indoor was hit and miss. Some nights the food was ok, but we would not go for half board and try the local restaurants instead .

Most outstading property right on the ocean. Impeccably managed and maintained. Meals at hotel were fabulous and good value. This was a gem in the paradise of Madeira. Our room came with a lovely small kitchen, a balcony and every comfort. Clean, beautiful, peaceful and supremely comfortable. I regret having to leave. Best hotel value I have experienced.

Our stay at Hotel Porto Santa Maria was wonderful. The hotel is in a central location, close to the waterfront, dining options and the cable car. The staff was friendly and professional and we all enjoyed the pool, hot tubs and other amenities, including the free parking. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a Madeira holiday.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay at Hotel Porto Santa Maria. Our room was spacious with a great view. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our only complaint was that when we checked in, no one let us know that the breakfast buffet was included for all of us each morning. We did not find out until one of our traveling companions asked that last morning if she could get coffee, and the staff informed her she could get anything because the buffet was included. The buffet looked delicious, so had we known, we definitely would have had it every day.
