The caretaker was made aware of the booking at the time of your booking, however, what followed failed. We were on holidays and unexpectedly were having terrible computer problems being out of wifi range. My normal system is to notify the caretaker, as I always do, when I get a booking, then send a reminder when I get one from the HomeAway site, which is about three days before the arrival of our next guests. In my opinion our crew began to rely on the second reminder, ignoring the original booking. We took this issue very seriously and when I followed up I was told that the guests were told by the caretaker, who was out of town, that the house was not ready. Everyone agreed that they would be willing to change the bedding and tidy. The caretaker told them how to access the house and where everything was. Both the caretaker and we, the owners, regret what happened. I doubt it would ever happen again as we have put in a better system. My understanding is the guests were refunded their cleaning fee and were given one additional night at no cost. We realize this was a huge inconvenience and humbly apologize. My understanding is the guests were satisfied with the compensation. They were very pleasant and a pleasure to host according to the caretaker. We send our great appreciation to their help in rectifying a bad situation.

My understanding is there was an unusual heat wave on the dates you visited our home that struck most of the Country. With 3 other operating fans (2 ceiling fans) we have never been asked for more. Geographically it is a 50 mile drive to where we could buy more. Tim did a marvellous job, dropping everything, to drive in that heat to buy another fan and bring it to you. Thus, you were supplied 4 operating fans which we realize was only able to make it more bearable but not eliminate the extraordinary heat wave we suffered. There is no place in our description of the property ( now or then) that suggest 2 showers, there are two bathrooms, one of which is equipped with a large bathtub the other a shower and no tub. I can only believed you became confused while surfing the various homes available of our honest description. On the day of your arrival both Tim and I responded to your calls as soon as we became aware of the error that was made in the phone number. I am glad Homeaway was able to assist you. We regret that our home was not suitable for your needs. When you stay in someone’s home you do have the opportunity to experience the way they live . . And in this case it simply wasn’t right for you.

As one reads the previous reviews one can see that others have commented on how comfortable the beds in our home are, which makes one realize everyone has indivual and personal taste. Our beds are new and good quality. They, also offer an additional featherbed cover topping. In general, thie best way to describe our beds are firm mattress with about a 1" feather covering. Most guests fine them luxuriously dreamy. We are very sorry they weren't a good fit for you. Laundry is available, like most hotels, at a small fee.
