Outer Banks get away
Had a wonderful time aboard The Starry Banner! It definitely exceeded our expectations. Dan and Katherine are amazing hosts. They were very prompt with answering questions and gave us several great suggestions on various places to eat and things to do around the area. The location is great, within walking distance of several restaurants and shops. They also offer sunset sailboat cruises, which I highly recommend! Would definitely stay at The Starry Banner again.

Reliving boating
Starry Banner was just as depicted....very clean, well appointed and an unusual and enjoyable experience. Katherine and Dan go out of their way to ensure the property is set up properly and explain the nuances and practices for living on board. The "yacht" has been metculously restored and is moored in an excellent location in the Manteo marina within walking distance of everything you might want or need. Parking was also very accessible. For a fun, different and enjoyable stay you really should climb a board Starry Banner.

Sweet town!
Dan and Katherine were so sweet! The boat is decorated so beautifully and we felt at home for our short stay. The town is a Mayberry sort of town with everything quiet by 9 pm which was great. Would definitely recommend! Hope to stay there again😊

Wonderful location and relaxing stay
We spent 8 nights on the Starry Banner and it was fantastic! The location is perfect. Easy walking to shops and restaurants and a quick drive to Nags Head and beyond. The boat had everything we needed and it was so relaxing to be there. The only drawback was spotty internet, but I just took that as a good sign that I should unplug! I would definitely recommend a stay here.

My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary aboard the Starry Banner boat in Monteo, and it was truly unforgettable! Even more special, we brought our two cats, and they surprisingly loved it despite being boat novices. The boat itself was a sight to behold - elegant, spacious, and immaculately clean. Its location on the dock provided stunning views that enhanced the experience. We were so captivated by its beauty that we extended our trip by an extra day. Relishing the boat life, we spent hours on the upper deck, absorbing the charming vibes of Monteo town. It felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience we'll always treasure. Katherine and Dan, the hosts, were warm and caring. They recommended local restaurants, ensuring we savored the best of Monteo's cuisine. They even suggested the finest beach in Nags Head. Our stay was beyond delightful, and we're already planning to return soon. The Starry Banner boat is an exceptional choice for a unique vacation in Monteo. Highly recommended!

5 of 5 Stars for the Starry Banner!
Katherine and Dan are truly wonderful hosts! I traveled solo with my pup, Oakley Alexander (Yorkie), and they ensured we both had a wonderful stay! The Starry Banner was cozy and had had a nice ‘homey’ feel…very nicely decorated and equipped with everything I needed, and more! The best experience on the boat is being rocked gently to sleep every night! For the busy professional, this is HEAVEN! I traveled to the OBX for a change of scenery…a ‘workation,’ if you will, and although I worked most days during the week on the boat, I found it very relaxing and just what I needed to power through a tough week! On a scale of 1-5, I give my experience with Katherine and Dan a 10!

Great Stay!
Had a fantastic stay on the Starry Banner! Really appreciate how clean it was - I'm talking VERY clean. The kitchen was very well stocked with cooking supplies (pots, pans, dishes, etc.) so we had fun making some meals on the boat. Definitely recommend if you want an out of the ordinary stay in the OBX.

Great experience
My husband would like to live on a boat so what better way to see what it would be like than to rent one for a few nights. It was a wonderful relaxing experience. We would definitely rent a boat again. Manteo is a very welcoming town, we really enjoyed the area and our stay on the Starry Banner.

Quick getaway

The Spirit of Manteo
I’ve spent a lot of time in Manteo and on every trip I’ve passed by The Starry Banner as I’ve walked the boardwalk - and wondered what it be like to stay on the yacht. During the 11th Annual Bluegrass Island Festival I finally had the opportunity to do so, and it a truly wonderful experience! A stay on The Starry Banner, in my opinion, is the perfect way to truly experience the spirit of Manteo. My time was spent taking foggy morning strolls over to Charis Coffee and good exchanging morning greetings with folks along the boardwalk, enjoying a glass of wine beneath a star filled sky, browsing all of great local shops, catching sunrise at the Roanoke Island Lighthouse, and dining at the nearby restaurants. I was in town to photograph the festival at the Roanoke Island Festival Park that’s located just over the bridge from where The Starry Banner is docked. My days were long but the bed was a cozy slice heaven! That mixed with Shallowbag Bay gently rocking me to sleep and I had some of the best nights of sleep that I’ve had in a long time. The interior of the yacht is very clean, well decorated, & has a very good nautical vibe to it. Storing belongings as well food & drinks was simple with plenty of space. The onboard handbook not only provided plenty of helpful information but it also made staying on the yacht a learning experience thanks to added details and vocabulary about the boat. The location is perfect for spending time in downtown Manteo but most certainly if you’re attending any of the events at the festival park. Staying in downtown Manteo is also an excellent way to have a central base camp for seeing everything that The Outer Banks has to offer. I made trips to Bodie Island Lighthouse, Pea Island, Buxton & Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Elizabethan Gardens, Kill Devil hills, plus more - and all were easily accessible with a beautiful drive. I could go on but I’ll cut myself off with simply saying that if you’re looking for a unique experience that allows you to take in the beauty & true spirit of Manteo - The Starry Banner needs to be on your “Book The Trip!” list! I know I’ll certainly be back! Cheers!

Die Wohnung ist gut ausgestattet. Backofen fehlt allerdings. Bäcker ist direkt nebenan. Die Betten waren nicht so bequem. Die Lage ist super. Man kann viele Ausglüge machen ohne weit zu fahren.

Super experience on the Waterfront!
Had a wonderful time! Super location, walking distance to cute boutiques, coffee, Poor Richard's Sandwiches, and minutes drive to many restaurants. We enjoyed sitting up on top of the deck, to watch the world go by and bask in the moment with our drinks in hand. Amenities below were carefully explained in advance as well as an informative book. Katherine and Dan are engaging as well as respectful of your time. They proved to be warm and engaging during our sunset sail with their other sailing vessel in the same marina. I surprised my husband and he took to sailing quite well. Dan was kind enough to allow both of us solid time with learning how to sail. We were able to bring our 2 dogs on board both water craft. We were mindful and very respectful of how well they maintained the Starry Banner. Katherine and Dan helped us to make wonderful memories together. Katherine recommended a place to stop to pick up fresh seafood on Sunday for our trip home. Super, lovely , memorable experience. We will surely miss the Starry Banner and our delightful hosts - Katherine and Dan.

We cannot say enough about how wonderful this trip wasn’t to Manteo. Starry Banner was a great boat! A very unique VRBO experience. The boat was set up to perfection and the owners, Katherine and Dan were extremely helpful and accommodating. They had great suggestions of where to explore and eat. Schönes Wohnen im Altbau
Es war eine tolle Erfahrung in so einem alten Haus mit moderner neuer Ausstattung zu wohnen! Die große Dusche hat uns sehr begeistert, nur die Couch war für uns etwas zu unbequem! Das Doppelbett ist mit ca. 135 cm sehr schmal, aber es gibt noch 3 weitere Einzelbetten! Die knarrenden Dielen und der abendliche Nachtwächter passen zum Flair des Hauses! Der Kontakt zu den Vermietern war sehr nett und unkompliziert!

Fabulous in Every Way!
Katherine and Dan were the perfect hosts, with perfect accommodations. All of the comforts of home while on a beautiful, large boat central to everything in the Outer Banks! Do not be hesitant about vacationing on a boat when you have a luxury yacht like this! It was the perfect place to spend a week to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and we couldn’t have had more fun! Spacious gallley in which we prepared several meals and all breakfasts. Spacious salon and the flybridge was our place of relaxation, after busy days visiting north and south along the coast, to view the most amazing sunsets. The Marina is central to many local restaurants and the local seafood markets were superb! It is truly a must do venue! Thank you, Katherine and Dan! It was truly a pleasure to spend our anniversary aboard The Starry Banner!

Wonderful getaway
We had such a great time, everything was awesome. All the people staying there at the docks treated us like family. I can't say enough about the owners, they were genuinely concerned that we had everything we needed, and that we were having a great time. The boat was beautiful and very spacious. A relaxing and romantic adventure!
The Starry Banner is a vintage and unique treasure. We enjoyed so many things about our stay, including the comfortable bed, quiet location, outdoor (fly bridge) lounge, access to kayaks, the walkable town with tasty restaurants and so much more. It was a romantic and relaxing vacation, a second honeymoon. Our hosts Dan and Katherine were terrific! They made everything perfect with their excellent communication and suggestions for best beaches & restaurants. The little details like fresh flowers from their garden, down-stuffed bedding and their hosting a sailing adventure where we played with the dolphins were wonderful and unexpected. Celebrating the 4th of July, on a bicentennial yacht under the Manteo fireworks added to the fun. We had a magical visit and would do it again in a heartbeat! Thanks so much!

Wonderful Anniversary Trip
What a great and unique experience. We enjoyed just sitting on the boat in the evening with a cocktail and talking to people who strolled by on the boardwalk. You literally are in walking distance of shops and restaurants in quaint downtown Manteo. It is a quick drive to go sit on a beach and relax. Plus all kinds of things to do and see on the outer banks. Dan and Kathy were absolutely wonderful hosts. We even had flowers on the boat along with an anniversary card. Very special.

Perfect OBX Basecamp!
This was easily the most unique and enjoyable stay I've found in VRBO!! Manteo is a fantastic launchpad for seeing app the Outer Banks have to offer, and Dan and Katherine make sure that the Starry Banner is an experience to remember. Great Boat Adventure in OBX
I loved staying on the boat! I would absolutely rent this property again. It’s a boat so be prepared to watch your head and adjust to some smaller spaces. The marina and local folks were wonderful as were the hosts. It’s a great central location in OBX for day trips north or south. About 10 minutes to the beach. Lots of cute shops and restaurants in town and a fabulous boardwalk for jogs and walks.

Schöner Urlaub in toller Wohnung!
Die Wohnung ist mitten im wunderschönen alten Teil von Turckheim gelegen, schön ruhig, Bäcker quasi nebenan, genug kostenlose Parkplätze in kurzer Laufdistanz, viele Gelegenheiten zum Essengehen und einen kleinen Supermarkt gibt es auch. Sie ist super ausgestattet - sogar ein Sortiment scharfer! Messer ist vorhanden....Induktionsherd, Spülmaschine, Toaster, Wasserkocher, Kaffeemaschine, schönes Geschirr, Kochzubehör, .... Sie hat ein Schlafzimmer mit Doppelbett und davon abgehend ein Zimmer mit drei Einzelbetten, evtl. für gemeinsam urlaubende befreundete Paare interessant. Wir wurden herzlich durch Familie Schneberger empfangen und verabschiedet. Turckheim liegt günstig für Ausflüge: Vogesen, Basel, Straßburg, Colmar, Burgen, Wanderungen im Weinberg, Silberbergwerksbesichtigung, Weinverkostungen, kurzer Abstecher in den Schwarzwald (z.B. Glottertal oder Kaiserstuhl) - unheimlich viele Möglichkeiten gut erreichbar, man kann sich gar nicht entscheiden, was man in 14 Tagen davon machen möchte. Sollten wir nochmal ins Elsass/die Vogesen fahren, buchen wir wieder diese Wohnung! PS: Da in die Wohnung auch Hunde dürfen, ist vlt. interessant, dass in Frankreich Hunde nicht mit dem Bus fahren dürfen, wir waren sehr überrascht.

Unique experience in the heart of Manteo
We loved sitting out at the topside of the yacht at sunset; that was our favorite part! It's moored just off of downtown and affords the ability to walk to a number of restaurants, shops, etc. Parking wasn't a problem for us and we were able to travel to the beach when we desired. There are unique aspects to living on a yacht but it doesn't take long to master them.

Unique and fun
We had a great time! So fun to hang out on the boat dock and enjoy the beautiful scenery and chat with the folks passing by on the boardwalk. The owners were super friendly and there if we needed them. Our dog loved it too!

Unique and Charming!
Fantastic communication, great directions, easy check-in. Manteo is charming and floating on the water at night very restful. Truly enjoyed our time on the Starry Banner!
