The Historic Buckley House - 4 En-Suites - Walk Downtown

  • The Historic Buckley House – Elegant Riverside Retreat in the Heart of Marietta

Step into timeless charm and modern comfort at the Historic Buckley House, a beautifully preserved 19th-century home nestled in the heart of Marietta, Ohio. Originally built in the late 1800s, this grand Victorian residence has long been a cornerstone of the community—first as a private estate, and later as a beloved fine dining restaurant. Today, it has been thoughtfully reimagined as a distinctive guest retreat, blending historic elegance with modern luxury.

Located just steps from downtown Marietta, the Buckley House offers the perfect setting for weddings, reunions, or relaxing riverfront escapes. Enjoy an easy 7-minute stroll to the People’s Bank Theater, boutique shops, riverfront trails, and the town’s vibrant dining scene—all while returning to the quiet charm of this stately home.

The house features four beautifully appointed bedrooms—three with queen beds, and one with a king—each with its own private en-suite bathroom and walk-in shower. The second floor is fully dedicated to sleeping quarters, offering guests comfort and privacy.

On the main level, you’ll find:

A newly renovated gourmet kitchen with high-end appliances and a dedicated coffee bar.

An elegant dining room featuring seating for eight and hand-carved hardwood furniture, a nod to the home`s rich craftsmanship.

A cozy parlor and spacious living room, perfect for gatherings or quiet reflection.

Outdoors, guests can enjoy the landscaped backyard gardens, complete with brick walkways, a tranquil koi pond, a gazebo, and a large covered deck just off the kitchen—ideal for al fresco dining or morning coffee.

The second-floor balcony offers picturesque views of East Muskingum Park and the Muskingum River, just across the street.

With ample private parking, walkable access to local attractions, and a legacy that captures the spirit of historic Marietta, the Buckley House is more than a place to stay—it’s a place to experience.

Buckley House is absolutely perfect for a family gathering. Four en suite bedrooms, large kitchen with a coffee bar (Kuerig, coffee press, Mr Coffee, .) Stove, microwave, dishwasher,. Kitchen island. Two living room areas for time alone for reading or phone calls. Powder room on first floor and a dining room. We enjoyed the front porch for our first cup of coffee and discussing plans for the day. The back porch has several tables that we used for eating and visiting. The house is perfectly located for a walk into town…great stores. Restaurants and Pubs. The house is across the street from a beautiful little park..take a walk, ride a bike..even has a circuit of strength machines. We will definitely return to this location for a future family gathering.

L&L Landing Boat Crew

Our group of eight friends set off from New Martinsville, WV aboard a pontoon boat, cruising the Ohio River toward Marietta. We docked at the Marietta Boat Club, and from there, it was just a short walk to The Buckley House—perfectly located in the heart of town. The timing couldn’t have been better. Right across the street, a lively festival was underway, featuring a fantastic selection of Ohio microbreweries. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, adding a fun local flavor to our stay. The Buckley House itself was beautiful—immaculately clean, well maintained, and full of charm. It felt like a true home away from home. In the morning, we strolled over to Busy Bee for a delicious breakfast, then returned to gather our things and continue our river journey. This stop in Marietta was a highlight of our trip. The Buckley House’s location, comfort, and proximity to local attractions made it an ideal choice for our group. Highly recommended for anyone exploring the Ohio River or looking for a memorable stay in Marietta.

My family and I recently enjoyed a four-night stay at The Historic Buckley House, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. Traveling with my parents and husband, we chose this property not only for its charm but also for its proximity to the small town where my father grew up. It served as the perfect setting for a mini family reunion. The home is beautifully maintained, with a spacious back deck that easily accommodated our gathering. There were plenty of tables and seating for everyone, and the kitchen island worked perfectly as a buffet setup. Parking was never an issue, with ample space available both in the driveway and along the street.Inside, the house was spotless and thoughtfully arranged. Each bedroom featured a comfortable bed and a private en suite bathroom, which made our stay especially convenient and enjoyable. The location was ideal—directly across from a picturesque park that added to the peaceful atmosphere.Communication with the owner was excellent. They were friendly, responsive, and helpful throughout the booking process and our stay.I would absolutely stay at The Historic Buckley House again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, well-appointed rental in a charming and historic setting.
