“The beautiful Irish countryside has so much to offer. When this is combined with the love for nature that the host Mary shares with you and staying in one of the shepherds huts all conditions for a perfect stay are there. Guidance to nice walks and places to see are part of the warm welcoming to Blackstairs Shepherds Hut. We enjoyed the quietness, a walk along the river Barrow and having dinner in the nearby town Borris.”

“We stayed in the cabin in the back which was
. Absolutely adorable and as pictured. I would highly recommend to communicate with the host ahead of time, because while the contact phone number is listed at multiple points on the property, it can be difficult for a traveler without phone service. I was traveling from another country and had data only, I was fortunate to have a local person lend me their phone so I could check in that first evening. That is my only advice for anyone wanting to stay...

“We stayed with our lovely hosts Jo and Jim at their beautiful B&B. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived. Lovely Jo showed us to our room and it really did exceed expectations. “Quirky from the outside but nice inside. Comfortable and clean. We were in a room next to the pub so we didn’t have any noise except from guests using the hot tub and they quieted about 930. Only issue we had was it was warm so we wanted the windows open but the staff used the space by our window as a smoking area. We were able to open after they left for the night. Small nice kitchen with convenience store across the street that had basic groceries for all meals. ”

“Sadly this was only a short overnight stay, arriving mid-evening and departing early, between getting off the ferry at Rosslare and driving west the next day. Even though it was a bank holiday and there was the Fleadh in Wexford, so the hotel was fully occupied, the staff coped very well. Our room was spacious, well decorated, well equipped and comfortable - and given the crowds also mercifully quiet. Our evening meal and breakfast in the hotel (not included in the Expedia rate) were good. ...

“Total gem and worth going a bit off the beaten path. Wonderfully renovated and welcoming spaces. On a cool night there were small fires in the fireplaces in the lobby and in the restaurant. The dinner at the restaurant was the best of our trip, and the included breakfast in the morning was also fabulous. Walkable little town with several historical points of interest, a Friday morning farmers market, and lots of locals at Joyces pub and bakery. We wished we had booked for more than one night. ”
