The Space:
Set on flat green land with open mountain views, Matariki Akura by Tiny Away sits quietly with no neighbours in sight. The tiny house is surrounded by grass, sky, and changing light.
Step outside and move straight into the outdoors or pick fresh produce from the veggie garden to use during your stay. Located in the town of Masterton, this rural pocket of joy still keeps everyday comforts close.
Cafés, Queen Elizabeth Park, local pools, and a skate rink are all nearby, while Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre, Tararua Forest Park, and Greytown are easy day trips. All of this is just 1.5 hours from Wellington, making it easy to unplug without going far.
The 139-square-foot tiny home includes water access, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking gear, and a private bathroom with a gas-heated shower, hand basin, and eco-friendly cassette toilet.

Guests have full access to the tiny house and the surrounding outdoor space, including the open area directly in front of the tiny home.
The Neighborhood:
Set just outside Matahiwi and in the town of Masterton, this part of the Wairarapa feels tied to land and seasons. Farming life, open spaces, and community events define the place here at Matariki Akura by Tiny Away. Nature is part of daily life. Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre is located north of town and features native forest, walking tracks, eel feeding, and connections to conservation and Māori culture. Queen Elizabeth Park brings families together with lakeside walks, miniature trains, putt golf, pools, and a skate park all in one place. The Tararua Forest Park rises nearby, drawing walkers who enjoy bush tracks and changing weather patterns.
